In my backyard, there stands a strong and thick tree that has watched me grow up. It offers shade (阴凉处) on
hot summer days and a home to many birds. I remember climbing it up as a child, feeling like I was reaching for
the sky. The tree and I have always been there for each other.
One day, there would be a big storm. I worried about my friend. Papa said we should help it by tying ropes for
support. Working together, we tied ropes around the tree. After the storm passed, the tree stood strong, and I
learned that just like the tree, nature needs our care, too.
I started collecting rainwater in a bottle nearby. The tree seemed to love it, as its leaves grew greener. I also
planted flowers around it, and bees came to visit, helping them grow better. My friends from school helped me
make bird feeders, which hung from the branches (树枝), feeding the birds that sang their thanks every morning.
The tree taught me that we depend on nature, and nature depends on us. By respecting and s... it, we can both
live well. Now, more than ever, I understand our special relationship—we are one with the world around us, and
together, we can make it a better place.

Do you often compare yourself to other people It’s a natural behavior that helps humans learn from each
other, live happily together and achieve more. However, it’s not always helpful and you can find yourself fall in a
comparison trap (比较陷阱). This is when you always measure yourself against others and base your feelings on
how well they seem to be doing.
Comparison can make us feel good and bad about ourselves. “Comparing up” means seeing someone is better
than you and using that to encourage yourself to aim higher and try harder. However, sometimes it can make you
feel rubbish about yourself and undermine your confidence. “Comparing down” is when you see someone who
seems like they’re not doing as well as you. This might make you feel you’re doing well, but it can also stop you
from wanting to improve.
How can you run away from a comparison trap Notice how people make you feel and spend time with friends
who celebrate your strengths rather than compare themselves to you. If you follow social media accounts (媒体账
号) that make you feel you are failing in any way, unfollow them. Find ones that make you laugh or show you
lovely places instead. Finally, pay attention to your own achievements and how you can improve. The best person
you can compete with is yourself.
Let’s make positive, healthy comparisons. Instead of trying to be the best, aim to be your best. This means you
value your own achievements and not someone else’s. Celebrate progress instead of the final result. It doesn’t
matter if someone is better or faster than you. It’s how hard you try that’s important. Set some goals and pay
attention to your progress. Instead of saying “I can’t do it”, say “I can’t do it yet”.
66. What is the benefit of comparing yourself to others according to the text
A To knock your confidence. B. To learn from each other and achieve more.
C. To make others feel bad about themselves. D. To stop you from wanting to move.
67. What does the underlined word “undermine your confidence” mean in Paragraph 2
A. Make your confidence weaker. B. Have much confidence in yourself.
C. Wake your confidence up. D. Worry about your confidence.
68. What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraph 3
A. Competing with yourself is not necessary.
B. Your feelings always depend on other people.
C. We can follow the ways to avoid falling into comparison.
第 9页/共 16页
D. Friends can make you laugh and show you lovely places.
69. What is the key to make positive, healthy comparisons
A. Valuing others’ achievements. B. Trying to be better than everyone else.
C. Celebrating your progress. D. Trying to be the best in everything.
70. What is the best title (题目) for the text
A. Suggestions on “Comparing Up”. B. Benefits of Aiming High.
C. Keys to Stopping Comparison. D. Ideas about Making Comparison.

Smart schools will be the schools of the next generation. These future schools will use high technology to help
students learn more quickly. Students will also benefit from lessons that are suitable for their learning style and

A university in Canada has built the first 5G smart college in the country. A high-tech company helped to
build a 5G network across the schoolyard. This made it easy for everyone to use the smart system.
