宾语从句就是由一个句子来构成主句的宾语,同时有一个连接词引导。

什么是宾语从句的三要素?
引导词:当宾语从句是特殊疑问句时,疑问词就是引导词,此时疑问词在宾语从句中作一定的句子成分,不可省略。
语序:陈述语序。
主句为一般现在时,从句可以是任何时态
时态: 主句为一般过去时,从句进行相应的过去变化
客观真理,自然现象等不变

2.whether/if (表疑问语气,意为“是否”)

常见引导词
1. that 在句中无词汇意义,在从句中不充当成分时,可以省略。
I hear (that) he will be back in an hour.
He said (that) he missed us very much.
2.由从属连词 if, whether引导的宾语从句
I want to know if/whether she is right.
They didn’t know whether Tom could come back or not.
if/whether 引导宾语从句 表示“是否” if/whether可互换。
注:以下几种情况只能用whether。
1.与or not 连用时。
2.和动词不定式连用时。
3.所引导的从句作介词宾语时。

3.由连接代词 who, whom, whose, which, what和连接副词 where, how, why, when引导的宾语从句
e.g.
1. Do you know whose book it is
2. Please tell me when we’ll have a meeting.
3. Could you tell me why the train is late
4. He asked who could answer the question.

不论从句由什么引导词引导,也不论主句是陈述句还是疑问句,宾语从句一律用陈述句语序,即“引导词+主语+谓语+其他”结构。 如:
We don’t know when will they arrive. (×)

4.语序:陈述语序。

注意:当疑问代词what/who在特殊疑问句中作主语时,该特殊疑问句本身即是陈述语序,所以转变成宾语从句后无需再调整语序。
“What’s wrong with the TV ” Tom asks.
= Tom asks what’s wrong with the TV.

在宾语从句中,谓语动词时态要受到主句谓语动词时态的制约,一般要遵循以下三条原则:
1.如果主句是祈使句或主句中的谓语动词是一般现在时或一般将来时,则宾语从句可根据实际需要选用时态。如:
Mary says she will come back soon.
Will you tell us which places you visited during the vacation

2.如果主句中的谓语动词是一般过去时,则宾语从句需要使用表示过去的某种时态。如:
He said that he played computer games last night.

3.如果宾语从句所表达的是客观事实、真理、自然现象、名言、警句、谚语等,用一般现在时。如:
He said time is money.

宾语从句的简化结构
由特殊疑问词引导的宾语从句通常可以简化成“特殊疑问词+不定式”结构,此时主从复合句也就变成了简单句,但简化必须符合以下两种条件:
1.简单句的疑问词为原宾语从句的引导词;
2.原从句的主语应与主句的主语或间接宾语一致。
I want to know how I get there.
→ I want to know how to get there.
