①When you take the subway, you might notice many people, old and young, listening to audiobooks instead of reading paper books. Audiobooks have become quite popular these days. Why are more and more people choosing audiobooks over traditional books Is listening to an audiobook just as good as reading a paper book
②You need to find time available and a quiet place to sit down and read. However, you can listen to audiobooks anytime and anywhere you like, and it gives your eyes a break, too.
③But the big question is, do we get as much knowledge from audiobooks as we do from paper books Researchers did an experiment to find the answer. Volunteers in Group One were asked to listen to an audiobook while volunteers in Group Two read a book of the same content (内容). It turned out that they recalled as much information, whether they listened to or read it. ▲
④Another study from The Journal of Neuroscience further supported the result above. In the study, researchers scanned people’s brains when they listened to and read books. The result showed that listening to audiobooks activated (激活) almost the same parts of the brain as reading did.
⑤However, some people still believe that they learn better from reading paper books. One reason might be that when we listen to audiobooks, we are often doing some other tasks at the same time. “If you’re trying to learn while doing two things, you’re not going to learn as well,” Daniel Willingham, a researcher at the University of Virginia, told The New York Times.

Do you feel tired in the middle of a class Do you think the class is so boring that you would fall asleep during the class Are you sleepy when listening to the teacher The reason why you feel like this maybe is not the class is boring, but because you don’t get enough sleep. Why do you need sleep Sleep can help our body grow and keep healthy. It can also give us more energy so that we can stay active all day long. According to Doctor Wang, a famous doctor in Beijing Xiehe Hospital, who is doing research in teenagers’ sleep, sleep is the best medicine in the world for many illnesses. “For teenagers, they should sleep for 9 to 10 hours every day. However, sadly, many students can only get less than 8 hours because of the heavy study tasks,” said Doctor Wang, “When we sleep below six hours per 24 hours, we’re at a higher risk of health problems. Some of us might think we can make up the hours lost during the weekend. But there is no storage system for sleep in the brain.” As for Jenny, a 15-year-old middle school student in Shanghai, she usually sleeps 9 hours every day. She feels energetic every day and has a good mood to study. So she never feels sleepy in class and gets good marks. A new research suggests a kind of strong connection between purpose in life and sleep. People who have a greater sense of purpose usually have better physical and mental health. They have enough sleep and then have a strong body to do everything.
