Three years ago, my parents and I lived in a small apartment in a busy city. They worked all day, so we didn’t spend much time together. This made my mum sad, so one day she advised us to move to the countryside.

Once upon a time, there was a group of doves (鸽子) living by a lake. One day, under the lead of their king, the doves flew away to look for food. The smallest dove found some rice under a tree. So all the doves came down and began to eat.
Suddenly, a net fell over them and soon they were all in it. Then a man came. The doves tried to get out of the net, but they couldn’t. The oldest dove had an idea. A short time ago, a park in Selwood, England looked terrible. The lake water was dirty, the seats were broken and the place was full of rubbish (垃圾).
But now the park looks quite different, thanks to Michael Chambers, a 16-year-old student. Michael started a group called Park Rescue. Volunteers of the group used their free time to clean the park. They took away the rubbish and started cleaning the lake. They fixed a lot of the seats and bought some new tables. They also planted some flowers and 60 young trees.
Michael told people what they were doing in the park through the newspaper. In six months, about 120 more people joined Park Rescue. The group also organized concerts and raised money in the street. With these activities and with the help of some warm-hearted people, they have raised over 4,000.
“Birds start to come back to the park. The long-closed restaurant is going to open soon and that will be great. Zhao Chengnan is a college student. When her 22nd birthday was coming, she decided to celebrate it in a special way. She wanted to climb China's Five Great Mountains in five days.
When she was a middle school student, Zhao had an interest in sports and started to ride bikes and climb mountains. So when she talked about climbing the five mountains, her family thought it was a good idea.
On April 25, Zhao reached the top of Mount Hua after a four-hour climb. Then she took trains and buses, and even had a two-hour night climb in Mount Song. Whenever the sun went down and the blue sky appeared, my father and I used to climb the mountain near my house. When we were walking together, I often talked with my father, and I learned a lot from his experience. Six students from Beijing 101 Middle School looked deeper at this question and wrote a proposal (提案) to the China Youth Model Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (全国青少年模拟政协). They advised to build more old people’s service stations in the neighborhood. They also gave advice about how governments, neighborhoods and hospitals can work together to make this happen.
An old people’s service station is different from a nursing home. It offers things like daytime care, cooking, cleaning and friendship to old people who live in their own homes. Have you ever thought of what life is like for old people Have you ever helped old people who live alone Can they get help when they need it
Six students from Beijing 101 Middle School looked deeper at this question and wrote a proposal (提案) to the China Youth Model Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (全国青少年模拟政协). They advised to build more old people’s service stations in the neighborhood. They also gave advice about how governments, neighborhoods and hospitals can work together to make this happen.
An old people’s service station is different from a nursing home. It offers things like daytime care, cooking, cleaning and friendship to old people who live in their own homes. The students surveyed (调查) more than 1,100 people, and about 90 percent of them said they would prefer (更喜欢) using the stations’ services to moving into a nursing home. However, there are not enough of these stations, and many are not run very well.
The six students came up with a solution after reading more than 60 surveys, interviewing 108 people and visiting 25 different organizations. Their proposal beat out almost 100 others to win the Best. Proposal award (奖项) in 2021.
“This experience helps me to better understand the importance of caring old people. Also I seethe light and abilities in us,” said Xu Wanqing, one of the students.
“Taking part in the China Youth Model CPPCC has been good for students,” agreed their teacher Li Jie. “They’ve developed a sense of caring old people, as well as got more confidence (自信) about themselves since they’ve seen how much they can do for others.”
