Sniffer dogs or detection dogs are used for all kinds of situations. Some are used only in natural disasters to find survivors; others are used in public places like airports, train stations, etc., to find drugs or terrorists. Some are used in crime scenes to find clues and some are even used to search for dangerous wildlife in forests or on coasts.

Possible answer:
Good morning. Today is 13 May. A huge earthquake hit Wenchuan, China yesterday afternoon. It has killed at least 8,500 people by now. The earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. Injured survivors have been moved to safety by rescue workers, including medical workers, troops, and volunteers, who organized quickly.

First of all, you should stay calm if you’re in a tornado. Cover your ears if the noise is too loud. Stay indoors and get to a low place. Stay away from windows. Don’t drive or walk outside in a tornado.

Silent is free from sound or noise. It's an absolute adjective.
Quiet means something is not very loud. It's not an absolute adjective. Use quiet if there's sound, but it's not very loud.
Still is not moving; calm.
Calm is (of a person) peaceful, quiet, especially free from anger and anxiety.
(of a place or situation) Free of noise and disturbance.
(of water) with little waves on the surface.
