The house seemed to be holding its breath when I stopped my accusation, still weeping.

Ever since her childhood, Ginni, now 71, has had a deep love for travel.Throughout her career (职业) as a professional dancer, she toured in the UK, but always longed to explore further. When she retired from dancing and her sons eventually flew the nest, she decided it was time to take the plunge.

I just wanted to do it.And I wanted to do it alone as I always prefer it that way.”
In March 2008, Ginni boarded a ship with 48 passengers she'd never met before, to begin the journey towards Antarctica.“From seeing the wildlife to witnessing sunrises, the whole experience was amazing.Antarctica left an impression on me that no other place has,” Ginni says.“I remember the first time I saw a humpback whale; it just rose out of the water like some prehistoric creature and I thought it was smiling at us.You could still hear the operatic sounds it was making underwater.”
The realization that this is a precious land, to be respected by humans, was one of the biggest things that hit home to Ginni.

(2022·全国甲卷·阅读理解C篇)As Ginni Bazlinton reached Antarctica, she found herself greeted by a group of little Gentoo penguins (企鹅) longing to say hello. These gentle, lovely gatekeepers welcomed her and kick started what was to be a trip Ginni would never forget.
Ever since her childhood, Ginni, now 71, has had a deep love for travel.Throughout her career (职业) as a professional dancer, she toured in the UK, but always longed to explore further. When she retired from dancing and her sons eventually flew the nest, she decided it was time to take the plunge.
After taking a degree at Chichester University in Related Arts, Ginni began to travel the world, eventually getting work teaching English in Japan and Chile. And it was in Chile she discovered she could get last minute cheap deals on ships going to Antarctica from the islands off Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of the South American mainland.“I just decided I wanted to go,” she says.“I had no idea about what I'd find there and I wasn't nervous. I just wanted to do it.And I wanted to do it alone as I always prefer it that way.”
In March 2008, Ginni boarded a ship with 48 passengers she'd never met before, to begin the journey towards Antarctica.“From seeing the wildlife to witnessing sunrises, the whole experience was amazing. Antarctica left an impression on me that no other place has,” Ginni says.“I remember the first time I saw a humpback whale; it just rose out of the water like some prehistoric creature and I thought it was smiling at us.You could still hear the operatic sounds it was making underwater.”
The realization that this is a precious land, to be respected by humans, was one of the biggest things that hit home to Ginni.

(2025·济宁模拟)Travelling seemed like falsehood to me.I grew tired of backpackers expressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them.Globe-travelling to me held no more promise than finding a few bills in the pocket of an old coat.I needed something deeper than an Eat, Play, Love moment.
One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade-old promise: After our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens.Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise.
I finally boarded the plane.Vasilis picked me up at the airport.I smiled, thinking how improbable this moment seemed all those years ago.
The decade-long wait proved to be well worth it.Every step through the ancient streets revealed new wonders. However, none of them truly mattered. What would forever alter my perception of travel was a chance encounter with a local.
Vasilis and I were wandering Athens when a special sound caught our attention — a rhythmic clinking disturbing the quietness of the residential street.Curiously, we followed the sound to a humble workshop.Inside, a welder (焊工) gave no mind to our presence behind him.He wore no flashy protective suit — this was just another day for him, another dance with fire and metal that had become second nature.Under the sunshade, his orange cat rested in the comforting warmth ...
As the man continued welding, I felt a bit of envy.I envied his peace and contentment.I admired the simplicity he embodied.I imagined the welder happy, finding fulfillment in his craft (手艺) and returning to his loving family ...The moment moved me to tears.Leaving the workshop, rain blending with tears, I realized how easily life's poetry could pass unnoticed.
Home again in Montreal, I stop simply pursuing better things, better experiences and better people that are never grasped.I realize the real journey is inward — to appreciate life's ordinary magic. That sure beats petting any baby elephant.I may not have returned home “transformed”, but I'll always think of the welder and his cat.

“97% of the US population faces noise pollution from sources like flights and highways. In fact, the more quiet we have, the more we can see and hear about the world, so we are thrilled to be able to offer it at Niobrara National Scenic River. From a quiet starry night to peaceful natural escapes, it uncovers what cannot be enjoyed in many other places,” stated Susan Cook, another director.

[1] Though traveling is not a big deal for me today, before my trip to the mountains, I used to be a homebody. I had friends to hang out with, several hobbies, and I felt completely comfortable spending weeks or even months in my hometown — or sometimes even on my block — without going anywhere.
All my demands of traveling around the world were satisfied by the Discovery and National Geographic channels, and I seriously thought there was no difference between seeing something on TV and with my own eyes.
[2] The situation changed when one day David, my best friend who is always full of crazy ideas, walked into my room and declared his dislike for civilization. I will not describe how he managed to persuade me to join him on his journey to the Rocky Mountains. This was my first time in the mountains, so I was turning my head in all directions. Unfortunately, the weather was foggy most of the time, and the higher we got into the mountains, the worse we saw the scenery around us.
[3] Even despite this fact, I still enjoyed the hike — I felt like I was Bear Grylls, whose show I used to watch with excitement: in the wild, with food and water in my backpack, carrying a flashlight and a knife. On the first day, we were making our way along the foothills; but the next day, we started to climb on one of the peaks. Though it was not that steep and high, I was still excited. I regularly walked fast, and because of that, I ran out of energy long before we got to the top; David, on the other hand, was more well-paced.
[4] When we finally got to the top, nothing had changed. The same fog was covering the surroundings, and even though I was filled with positive emotions, I felt disappointed, because I counted on seeing the view from above and perhaps being able to take some photos.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back.

Seeing all this scenery with my own eyes was truly an eye-opening experience for me.
①What did we see then as the fog began to lift
②How did I feel about the landscape
③Did I find the significance of the real world?(所感——衔接下文)
④How did I find the scenery
⑤How did I feel about what I did
⑥What lesson did I learn from this experience?(所感——主旨升华)
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The sight of the scenery below and the distant peaks was more than I could have imagined. The reality of the mountains was far more impressive and awe-inspiring than any TV show could convey.
(感悟式结尾)_____________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________
(自然式结尾)_____________________________________________ _________________________
This trip was not just a physical journey; it was a personal one that changed my perspective on life and the world around me.
Since then, I have not been that homebody and fallen in love with traveling.
We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back. ___ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I regularly walked fast, and because of that, I ran out of energy long before we got to the top; David, on the other hand, was more well paced.
[4] When we finally got to the top, nothing had changed. The same fog was covering the surroundings, and even though I was filled with positive emotions, I felt disappointed, because I counted on seeing the view from above and perhaps being able to take some photos.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back.

Seeing all this scenery with my own eyes was truly an eye opening experience for me.

We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back.

Seeing all this scenery with my own eyes was truly an eye opening experience for me.

1.The sight of the scenery below and the distant peaks was more than I could have imagined. The reality of the mountains was far more impressive and awe inspiring than any TV show could convey.
This trip was not just a physical journey; it was a personal one that changed my perspective on life and the world around me.
Since then, I have not been that homebody and fallen in love with traveling.
二、 We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back. As the fog began to lift slightly, we caught a glimpse of the breathtaking landscape that had been hidden from us. The sight of the scenery below and the distant peaks was more than I could have imagined. (环境描写) The reality of the mountains was far more impressive and awe inspiring than any TV show could convey. (对应伏笔1) It was not until then that I realized that the world was much bigger and more magnificent than I could have imagined.
Seeing all this scenery with my own eyes was truly an eye opening experience for me. The fresh air, the sounds of nature, and the challenge of the climb all contributed to a sense of adventure and discovery that I had never felt before. It was then that I understood the difference between experiencing something through a screen and immersing oneself in it. (对应伏笔1) The disappointment of the foggy view was replaced by the satisfaction of having stepped out of my comfort zone and into the unknown. (对应伏笔2) This trip was not just a physical journey; it was a personal one that changed my perspective on life and the world around me.

(2025·济宁模拟)Travelling seemed like falsehood to me.I grew tired of backpackers expressing too much praise about how petting a baby elephant in Thailand “transformed” them.Globe travelling to me held no more promise than finding a few bills in the pocket of an old coat.I needed something deeper than an Eat, Play, Love moment.
One day, Vasilis, my Greek best friend, reminded me of our decade old promise: After our final exams, I would visit his hometown in Athens.Maybe, it was time to make good on that promise.
I finally boarded the plane.Vasilis picked me up at the airport.I smiled, thinking how improbable this moment seemed all those years ago.
The decade long wait proved to be well worth it.Every step through the ancient streets revealed new wonders.

Areas like the Niobrara National Scenic River offer an opportunity to showcase quiet, unspoiled areas in a noisy world.Today, as people's life is overloaded with noise, the intentional seeking out of quiet areas is on the rise and with it, the opportunity to engage new travelers in visiting the beautiful, yet still largely hidden treasure of the wild.

How Taking Short Vacations Can
Improve Your Well Being at Work
Without doubt, the nonstop demands of work and life can be bad for your well being, exhausting your physical resources and cognitive capacities — and possibly resulting in adverse health and performance results.
__9__. Research emphatically shows that vacations improve our physical and mental health while also boosting our performance at work.Perhaps surprisingly, they can even increase the likelihood of receiving a pay raise or promotion.
__10__. In fact, nearly half of US workers take less time off than their job allows, leaving an average of 9.5 days of paid time off (PTO) on the table, according to a 2023 survey by the Pew Research Center. And for 30 percent of employees, this unused vacation time doesn't roll over to the next year.__11__, taking mini vacations throughout the year can improve their overall well being. That means you can just use a long weekend to explore a new small town in your state, go camping in a national park, or do a biking tour of your local wineries.
We know that being on vacation feels good and that it's good for us.__12__? Naturally, there is the expense, and the bill involved in long trips — room, board, airfare, rail, sightseeing, everything — can be daunting.__13__. The Pew survey of over 5,900 US workers found that 49 percent of participants indicated they worried they might fall behind at work if they take more vacation time.
No wonder, then, that most people don't use all their vacation time. And over half (52 percent) of US employees work while on vacation.
A.If working hard is the way to earn more bread
B.Even if many workers don't use all their PTO
C.But that doesn't mean we always use our vacation time
D.Taking a real break is important for so many reasons
E.So why do we neglect to take all the time we've earned
F.Do you know why people like to take vacations whenever possible
G.It also turns out that taking extended time away from the office causes a lot of stress
