(24·泰州)I lived with my parents in the center of the city. But as a little boy, there was nothing I liked better than Sunday 161 at my grandfather’s farm in western Pennsylvania. With miles of stonewalls, the house and barn provided endless hours of fun 162 a city kid “be yourself” like me.
I can still 163 one afternoon when I was eight years old. Since my first visit to the 164 , I’d wanted more than anything to be allowed to climb the stonewalls. My parents would never 165 . Still, my willing to climb those walls grew so 166 . One spring afternoon, I used all my courage and entered the living room, where the adults had gathered after lunch. “I want to climb the stonewalls,” I said uncertainly. Everyone 167 up. “Can I climb the stonewalls ”
A chorus (异口同声) went up from the women in the room at once. “No!” they cried. “You'll hurt yourself!”
The result was just as I thought. But 168 I could leave the room, I was stopped by my grandfather’s low voice.
“Just a minute,” I heard him say. “Let the boy climb the stonewalls. He has to learn to do things for 169 .
“Go,” he said to me, “and come and see me when you 170 .”
For the next two and a half hours I climbed those old walls and had the 171 of my life. Later I met with my grandfather to tell him about my experience. I’ll never forget 172 he said.
“Fred,” he said, “you made this day a 173 day just by being yourself. Always remember, there’s only one person in this whole world like you, and I like you 174 as you are.”
Many years has passed since then, and today I host the television programme Mister Rogers Neighbourhood, seen by millions of children throughout America. There have been 175 over the years, but one thing keeps the same: I’ll tell my children what my grandpa told me at the end of almost every visit.

It was a cold day in 2017, and I didn’t want to drive up the mountain road to my daughter Carolyn’s house. 191 , she really expected me to see something at the top of the mountain. So here I was, unwillingly making the journey through 192 . When I saw how thick it was near the top, I’d gone too far to turn back. “ 193 could be worse than this,” I thought as I moved along the dangerous road.

Finally, we parked the car and got out. We walked along a path that was 197 with old pine needles (松针). Gradually, the peace and silence began to 198 my mind.
Then we turned around a corner and stopped in amazement. Hundreds of daffodils (水仙花) in different 199 —from white to lemon to red—shone like a carpet before us. At the center were purple hyacinths (风信子). Here and there were coral-colored tulips (郁金香).

The second “One at a Time.” The third “ 202 in 1978.”
As we drove home, I was so moved by what we had seen, I could hardly speak.
“ 203 changed the world,” I finally said, “One flower at a time. She started almost 40 years ago, 204 just the beginning of an idea, but she kept at it. ”
“Imagine,” I said, “if I’d had a goal and worked at it, just a little bit every day, what might I have 205 ”
Carolyn looked at me, smiling. “Start tomorrow,” she said, “Better yet, start today. ”
