Peter Rod found the purse outside a supermarket in Chula Vista CA. Using the address on the driver’s license (驾照) inside the purse, Peter drove to the house and knocked on the front door.
The purse belonged to Eliana Martin, a former roommate of Melina Marquez. Martin had not changed her address since her recent move, so the purse was brought to Marquez’s home. Marquez was not at home when Peter arrived. Travel is predicted to look extremely different in 2070.
Take airports for example, paperwork will be a thing of the past. Instead of paper passports,your information will be stored in the cloud. This type of technology won’t just include what we are familiar with today——like fingerprints or face scans—but also your heartbeat, as everyone’s heartbeat is unique.
There will be no need to check in. The facial recognition programme will instead be able to recognise you, match you with your booked flight and send messages to your phone as you walk through the airport without stopping.
Your bags, especially the heavy ones, will be sent directly from your train or taxi to the right plane. And that taxi will not be like the ones we know today. People will be expected to travel to the airport--and around their holiday destinations-in eVTOLs, which refers to électric air taxis that can take off and land without a runway.
As for the trouble of packing, 3D printers will provide perfect solutions. Simply provide your destination with your size using a body scan before you fly and, upon arrival, you will find a wardrobe(衣橱) filled with 3D-printed clothes. When you leave, these clothes will be recycled and. reprinted for the next tourist. Not only will this solve the problem of packing, but also make holiday fashion more environment-friendly.
While the predictions might seem unbelievable now, you only have to look back 50 years to realize it’s all possible. Think back to 1973 when smartphones were just a wild dream. “Google” seemed like a made-up word then, and notebook computers were still almost years away from being invented. Similarly, when we look forward to the next 50 years, the possibilities for development in technology for travel are endless.

A Spanish project is attempting to use 3D-printed coral reefs to provide habitat for fish and protection for beaches and coastal communities at risk from rising seas and other damage.
Coral reefs are decreasing globally, and some scientists say we could lose 70% - 90% of our reefs due to warming ocean waters. That has all kinds of serious influences because a quarter of the world’s fish live in and around reefs. Reefs are important protectors of coastal communities threatened by high waves, and they support the biodiversity (生物多样性). That led Nadia Fani and her co-founder Astrid Kramer to start Coastruction, a non-profit organization.
“Even if you start on a small scale (规模)... a square kilometer already, it could have a great impact,” Fani says. “It could really protect a coast, a beach, or an area where there is a community and it needs protection because the sea level is rising.”
Being able to use 3D printing is important, because you can match individual sites. Every location is different with different coral species. “It’s like everybody has a different house,” Fani says. “You can take into account habitat requirements of not just the coral but also the fish that live nearby. ”
Their present technology can print various shapes. The result can be an amazingly natural-looking man-made rock with plenty of corners for both coral and fish to attach themselves and make homes.
The Coastruction founders don’t think they can possibly meet the global demand, so their goal is to provide the tools — like the 3D printer — for local people and develop the technology to create the artificial (人造) coral reefs by using cheap and locally-available materials. No high temperatures or chemical additives are required, and any loose powder or sand material not used in one print will be used in the next. The 3D printer works on-site, so there’s no transport of finished blocks required.

Peter Rod found the purse outside a supermarket in Chula Vista CA. Using the address on the driver’s license (驾照) inside the purse, Peter drove to the house and knocked on the front door.
The purse belonged to Eliana Martin, a former roommate of Melina Marquez. Martin had not changed her address since her recent move, so the purse was brought to Marquez’s home. Marquez was not at home when Peter arrived. He left it with a relative at the house, and their dialogues were recorded by Marquez’s camera by chance. “I looked into the camera later, and I thought to myself “Oh my dear. He’s such a young kid. We need to find him and thank him,” recalled Marquez. She posted the video of Peter on the Internet and the Chula Vista community quickly went to work.
“I woke up and I had a lot of messages like, ‘Oh is this you ’” Peter said. The ladies invited him to Marquez’s house so Martin could say thanks in person. After they knew the boy’s poor family, they also started a GoFundMe page in his honor. The online fundraiser has received 677 donations (捐赠), totaling $15,145.
“It feels good. I appreciate it. I really do everything everybody’s doing,” Peter told NBC News. “My mom always told me since I was little to always do the right thing when nobody’s around.”

Travel is predicted to look extremely different in 2070.
Take airports for example, paperwork will be a thing of the past. Instead of paper passports,your information will be stored in the cloud. There will be no need to check in. The facial recognition programme will instead be able to recognise you, match you with your booked flight and send messages to your phone as you walk through the airport without stopping.
Your bags, especially the heavy ones, will be sent directly from your train or taxi to the right plane. And that taxi will not be like the ones we know today. People will be expected to travel to the airport--and around their holiday destinations-in eVTOLs, which refers to électric air taxis that can take off and land without a runway.
As for the trouble of packing, 3D printers will provide perfect solutions. Simply provide your destination with your size using a body scan before you fly and, upon arrival, you will find a wardrobe(衣橱) filled with 3D-printed clothes. When you leave, these clothes will be recycled and. reprinted for the next tourist. Not only will this solve the problem of packing, but also make holiday fashion more environment-friendly.
While the predictions might seem unbelievable now, you only have to look back 50 years to realize it’s all possible. Think back to 1973 when smartphones were just a wild dream. “Google” seemed like a made-up word then, and notebook computers were still almost years away from being invented. Similarly, when we look forward to the next 50 years, the possibilities for development in technology for travel are endless.

A Spanish project is attempting to use 3D-printed coral reefs to provide habitat for fish and protection for beaches and coastal communities at risk from rising seas and other damage.
Coral reefs are decreasing globally, and some scientists say we could lose 70% - 90% of our reefs due to warming ocean waters. That has all kinds of serious influences because a quarter of the world’s fish live in and around reefs. Reefs are important protectors of coastal communities threatened by high waves, and they support the biodiversity (生物多样性). That led Nadia Fani and her co-founder Astrid Kramer to start Coastruction, a non-profit organization.
“Even if you start on a small scale (规模)... a square kilometer already, it could have a great impact,” Fani says. “It could really protect a coast, a beach, or an area where there is a community and it needs protection because the sea level is rising.”
Being able to use 3D printing is important, because you can match individual sites. Every location is different with different coral species. “It’s like everybody has a different house,” Fani says. “You can take into account habitat requirements of not just the coral but also the fish that live nearby. ”
Their present technology can print various shapes. The result can be an amazingly natural-looking man-made rock with plenty of corners for both coral and fish to attach themselves and make homes.
The Coastruction founders don’t think they can possibly meet the global demand, so their goal is to provide the tools — like the 3D printer — for local people and develop the technology to create the artificial (人造) coral reefs by using cheap and locally-available materials. No high temperatures or chemical additives are required, and any loose powder or sand material not used in one print will be used in the next. The 3D printer works on-site, so there’s no transport of finished blocks required.
