(2025·内蒙古自治区锡林郭勒盟高三期中)Artificial intelligence (AI) is showing promise in earthquake prediction, challenging the long held belief that it is impossible. Researchers at the University of Texas, Austin, have developed an AI algorithm (算法) that correctly predicted 70% of earthquakes a week in advance during a trial in China and provided accurate strength calculations for the predicted earthquakes.
The research team believes their method succeeded because they stuck with a relatively simple machine learning approach. The AI was provided with a set of statistical features based on the team's knowledge of earthquake physics, and then instructed to train itself using a five year database of earthquake recordings. Once trained, the AI provided its prediction by listening for signs of incoming earthquakes within the background rumblings (隆隆声) in the Earth.
This work is clearly a milestone in research for AI driven earthquake prediction. “You don't see earthquakes coming,” explains Alexandros Savvaidis, a senior research scientist who leads the Texas Seismological Network Program (Tex Net). “It's a matter of milliseconds, and the only thing you can control is how prepared you are. Even with the 70% accuracy, that's a huge result and could help minimize economic and human losses and has the potential to remarkably improve earthquake preparation worldwide.”
While it is unknown whether the same approach will work at other locations, the researchers are confident that their AI algorithm could produce more accurate predictions if used in areas with reliable earthquake tracking networks. The next step is to test artificial intelligence in Texas, since UT's Bureau Tex Net has 300 earthquake stations and over six years worth of continuous records, making it an ideal location for these purposes.
Eventually, the authors hope to combine the system with physics based models. This strategy could prove especially important where data is poor or lacking. “That may be a long way off, but many advances such as this one, taken together, are what moves science forward,” concludes Scott Tinker, the bureau's director.
篇章导读:本文是一篇新闻报道。文章主要报道了利用人工智能预测地震的新方法,该方法在试验中展现出较高的准确性,为地震预测领域带来了希望。

B.By analyzing background sounds in the Earth.
C.By modeling data based on earthquake recordings.
D.By monitoring changes in the Earth's magnetic field.
答案:B

In order to enhance the fire safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of the students, a fire drill themed “Focus on Fire Safety, Cherish Life” was successfully conducted in our school.
Initially, professional firefighters were invited to deliver on site explanations and demonstrated the correct usage of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. Then, during the drill, the moment the alarm sounded, all students covering their mouths and noses with wet towels bent down low, and promptly evacuated to a safe area in an orderly manner according to the predetermined escape route.
Through this fire drill, not only did we acquire essential fire prevention knowledge and skills but our fire safety awareness was further strengthened.

(2025· 广东省深圳外国语学校高中园高三月考)Tim and his father were sailing at sea. He tried to remember all the sailing knowledge his father had taught. However, it wasn't easy for him. He could only master the skills of tying ropes and wearing a life jacket in case of emergency.
Tim pulled in the sail (帆) of the boat over his head successfully. He looked back at his father, hoping for a smile or a nod. But his father was looking up at the sail, not at him. Tim enjoyed sailing with his father, but he also felt nervous and different from his confident father.
Suddenly, the wind was blowing angrily. He put on his life jacket nervously. By comparison, his father never wore a life jacket, for he had been swimming and sailing for his entire life.
“Tim, can you take the helm (方向盘) for a minute?” his father asked, “Just keep it going straight. I'll run up to the back of the boat to check something.” Considering the changing weather, Tim hesitated, but he didn't want to see the familiar disapproving look on his father's face. “Uh, sure,” he replied and went to hold the helm tightly.
Suddenly, the wind shifted direction and the boat heeled (倾斜) so sharply that it might turn over. Tim knew he had to let some air out of the sail to help right the boat, but he would have to let go of the helm to do that.
He looked back for his father, but the sail blocked his view. “Dad!” he called, but the wind swallowed his voice. His heart was pounding in his ears. The boat began to heel more. Tim knew he had to act fast. He held the helm with one hand and used the other hand to reach for the mainsail line, trying to loosen it. After a few attempts, he managed to let the air out of the sail. The boat quickly righted itself.
Tim gave a sigh of relief. Then he looked around for his father. But there was no sign of him.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;

His father finally climbed back into the boat with Tim's help.

Suddenly, he saw a flash of something in the water. Much to his surprise, the figure in the water was his father! Thoughts raced through his mind, but he struggled to maintain his composure. Tim reached the rope that his father had used to teach him sailing knots. As he recited the trick his father had taught him, he formed the knot and pulled it tight. He knew that his father's life depended on his ability to throw the knot accurately. Focused and determined, he tied one end of the rope onto the boat and aimed the knot at his father.
His father finally climbed back into the boat with Tim's help. Exhausted and shaken, his father's face was pale, but relief spread across it as he hugged Tim tightly. “I thought I had lost you,” Tim choked out, tears welling up in his eyes. His father nodded, “I'm sorry for putting you in this position, Tim. I never should have asked you to take the helm in such dangerous conditions.” “But you saved me, Tim,” his father continued, his voice filled with pride and love. Tim couldn't help but smile, finally feeling the affirmation he had longed for.
