Could anyone really sleep for a hundred years Dance in glass slippers Hundreds of years ago, the idea of flying to another city through the air would have sounded like a fantasy. Yet now people do those things all the time. Science has made these dreams real. Could it someday make other fairy tale wishes come true
Sleeping Beauty Could anyone really sleep for 100 years Probably not. But some animals can sleep for months when they hibernate (冬眠). A hibernating animal slows down its breathing and heart rate (心率), lowers its body temperature, and doesn't eat or drink. If scientists can find out how animals hibernate, maybe one day people could hibernate too. But even hibernating animals
still grow older — so if a future Sleeping Beauty ever did manage to hibernate for 100 years, she might wake up as Sleeping Grandma.
Glass Slippers Would you really want shoes made of glass It's hard and breaks easily. But if a modern-day Cinderella wants to wear glass slippers, modern science can make her wish come true. Glass makers have discovered a way to make stronger glass. This glass is strong and scratch-proof(防刮擦).
Talk to the Animals Where would all those lost princesses be without their kind animal helpers In the real world, talking to animals isn't quite so easy — yet. But scientists are making progress. Someone Like You was popular with millions of people. The slow and emotional beats help deal with the pain of heartbreak and loss. There is no doubt that music can calm you down, and it could also be a medicine for treating physical pain. A new study showed listening to favorite songs could reduce people's feelings of pain, and the sad songs were the most useful.
Researchers invited 63 adults to bring two songs. One was their favorite, and the other was the song they would bring with them on an island. Then the researchers also asked the adults to pick one of the songs that the team considered relaxing and were unfamiliar to the adults.
In one group, each person was asked to look at a screen while listening to their favorite song, one relaxing song or a mixture of their two songs and the relaxing song. The other group was asked to sit in silence. All the while, the researchers put a hot object — similar to the
pain of a boiling hot teacup on your skin — on the participants'
(参与者的) left arms.
When rating(评价) their experiences, people were more likely to report feeling less pain when listening to their favorite songs compared with listening to the unfamiliar relaxing song or silence. The mixture did not reduce pain, which might mean music was more than a distraction
(分散注意力的事) from an unpleasant experience. After interviewing the participants about the songs they brought and their rating of pain, the researchers found that people who listened to sad songs felt less pain.
Music provides many other health benefits, including stress reduction and a good night's sleep.
25.What kind of music can reduce the feeling of pain best according to the study ( )
A.Favorite music. B.Sad music. C.Exciting music.

Forming a habit depends on the habit, you, and your efforts. Scientists say it could take from 21 days to eight months. That's because each habit is different. Many believe it takes 21 days to form a habit. This idea came from Maxwell Maltz, a doctor. He found that his patients spent about 21 days getting used to a new way of seeing themselves.
But not all habits take 21 days to develop. Some need more time to become a part of your life.
Mark Vahrmeyer, a therapist, says the 21-day rule seems easy. But often, it takes longer to form a habit.
Maurice Duffy, who teaches thinking patterns, says that our daily actions are our habits.
Alyssa Roberts, who researches eating habits, says habits are formed by repeating. When we do something many times, our brain starts to do it without thinking.
Charles Duhigg explains the “habit loop”. A habit has three parts: a trigger, the behavior, and a reward. For example, stress(a trigger) might lead to overeating(the behavior). Overeating can bring some comfort(a reward). If this repeats, the brain will see stress as a chance for a reward.
How long it takes to form a habit depends on the habit. A 2009 study showed it can take 18 to 254 days to form a habit. Simple habits like drinking water are quicker to form than harder ones like exercising.
A 2016 review found that believing in yourself is the key to forming habits. If you think you can form a habit, you likely will. This belief helps in stopping smoking, losing weight, drinking less, and
exercising more.
Vahrmeyer suggested that it was important to make the habits more attractive(吸引人的). “If the process of building your habit is not attractive, you are unlikely to stick to your goals,” Vahrmeyer said. He advised making the process as easy as possible. For example, if the goal is to go to the gym three times per week, a person should pick a nearby gym.
34.Maxwell Maltz noticed it took 21 days for his patients to ___________ changes.
35.According to the passage, the “habit loop” is made up of ___________.
pared to hard habits, simple habits will take _________ to form.

My Unforgettable Trip
Traveling is an exciting adventure that creates unforgettable memories.
One such trip that stands out in my mind is the school trip to the countryside.
Filled with excitement, I set out with my teachers and classmates on a Sunday morning. Our destination was a small village not far from the city, where we experienced the simple life. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly villagers. In the afternoon, we helped them with some farming tasks, like planting and watering crops. It was a completely new experience for me. In the evening, we got together at the village square, listening to stories and enjoying the beautiful sky.
That trip holds a special place in my heart, as it reminded me of not only the beauty of nature, but also the warmth of human
relationships. More importantly, I experienced a different life.
