Ice sculpting (is a special art that turns blocks of ice into amazing shapes.
However,the ice can start melting in minutes.This means sculptors must work quickly
and carefully before the ice melts().How are these amazing sculptures produced
The first important step is choosing the right ice.Ice sculptors check the ice very
carefully.They look for clear ice without bubbles ()just like choosing perfect
diamonds().Sometimes this takes hours in freezing weather.When sculpturing
begins,sculptors face two big challenges.On the one hand,they need to work fast.On
the other hand,they must keep warm.
Different designs need different amounts of time.A simple wedding sculpture
may take 2hours,but difficult designs like dragons can take over 6 hours.The more
intricate(复杂的)the design,,the longer time is needed.“The ice decides when we
finish."says expert sculptor Zhang Wei."And if the ice melts too quickly,we have to
stop working immediately -no matter how much we've done.
Ice sculptors are expected to design pieces for happenings such as galas ()
events,parties,weddings,movies,winter festivals and so on.The ice works are
beautiful,so many people think this job makes much money.Actually,even the top ice
sculptors don't carn a big pay day from the competitions.
Ice sculptures look like both beautiful and breathtaking.It 's hard not to be
