You may know the English letters A, B and C. But do you know the people called ABC
You may like eating bananas. But do you know there is such a thing as a “banana person”
How strange!
ABC means American-born Chinese. An ABC is a Chinese, but was born in the United
States. Sometimes, people call an ABC a “banana person”. A banana is yellow outside and
white inside. So when a person is a “banana”, he or she is white inside ----thinking like a

ABCs know little about China or the Chinese language. Some of them do not speak Chinese.
But they have Chinese blood. They are Chinese. But they are not Chinese citizens ( 公

Once upon a time, there lived an old man called Yu Gong. Two high mountains stopped
his family from waliking the other side. Although Yu Gong was old, he decided to move the
mountains with his family. Then Yu Gong started digging. At that time, a man called Zhi Sou
laughed at him and told him that it was impossible to move such high mountains. But Yu
9
Gong didn’t listen to him and said that his sons and grandsons would continue to move the
mountains after he died. Then a god was moved by Yu Gong, so he sent two gods to help him
move the mountains.
