①Then the front door bell rang. Claire took a deep breath, smoothed her dress, and opened the door with a forced smile. Gladys and her friends stepped in, their eyes widening in amazement at the transformed house. The elegant decorations, the soft lighting, and Claire’s new look left them speechless. “Claire, this is... incredible!” Gladys exclaimed, looking around with envy. Claire felt a mix of pride and unease, constantly glancing at the corner where Tony had disappeared. As the party went on, she couldn’t stop thinking about Tony’s words, her heart pounding whenever she recalled the warmth of his embrace.
②The next morning a car drove up and took Tony away, for it had to be rebuilt. Claire stood at the window, watching silently as the car disappeared from sight. A strange emptiness filled her heart. Larry returned as scheduled, but Claire found herself lost in thoughts, often spacing out during conversations. She couldn’t forget Tony, the robot who had not only changed her appearance and home but also touched her heart. Looking at the elegant house, she realized that what she missed most wasn’t the transformation, but the unique connection she shared with Tony, a connection that blurred the line between human and machine.
