What's work education
1 Read the passage and underline the two parts of work education.
The goal of the work education program is to encourage students’ all-around physical and mental development. In general, the program has two parts: theory and practice. The first part is about the value of labour. Working with their hands teaches students to respect hard work and working people.
This experience helps students develop positive attitudes, relationships, and skills related to the world of work. They will be better prepared for their futures.
The practice part is problem-solving. The students in China take part in many activities outside the classroom. They practice planning and preparing meals, taking care of homes, working in the fields or factories, and volunteering. Students in Germany try cooking and managing an office.
In a shop class, for example, a teacher might bring a broken bicycle and teach students to repair it. In Russia, work education focuses on the connection between education and productive work. Students learn to work in factories and the service industry.
