On the afternoon of 26 July 1984, Xu Haifeng made Olympic history by becoming the first ever Chinese Olympic Champion.
In 1990, when the Asian Games were held in Beijing, he was one of the athletes lighting the flame.
He would again be honoured at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, being one of the runners with the torch in the stadium during the opening ceremony.
Since 1995, Xu has been one of the coaches of the Chinese shooting team.
He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for four teams from 1979 to 1999.
Nicknamed “The Great One”, he has been called “the greatest hockey player ever” by many sportswriters, players, and the NHL itself.
He is the leading point-scorer in NHL history and is the only NHL player to total over 200 points in one season – a feat he accomplished four times.
She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist (2004 and 2008), a three-time World Champion (2005, 2007 and 2013), the current world record holder in the event, who is widely considered the greatest female pole-vaulter of all time.
Isinbayeva has been a major champion on nine occasions (Olympic, World outdoor and indoor champion and European outdoor and indoor champion).
She was also the jackpot winner of the IAAF Golden League series in 2007 and 2009.
