1 Li Daiyu and Her cousin Liu Qian went to Canada to visit their cousins in Halifax on the Atlantic coast. Rather than travel by commercial airline all the way, they decided to fly to Vancouver and then take the train. For both of them, the thought of crossing the whole country by rail was exciting.

Dear Xiao Ming,
I’m writing to share my amazing train journey across Canada! First, my cousin and I flew to Vancouver, where we spent two days exploring the city. Despite the rain on the first day, we took a boat ride in the bay and visited an island with shops selling crafts—then the next day, we hiked in a forest near the city, amazed by the mountains looking out over Vancouver.
Then, we boarded the train bound for Lake Louise. As the train passed through the Canadian Rockies, we saw massive mountains through the window, and when we arrived, the blue water of the lake took our breath away. However, the most exciting part came when we traveled to Jasper by coach. With spectacular mountain peaks and forests around us, we were lucky to see deer, mountain goats, and even a grizzly bear—In fact, it was the most awesome journey I’d ever taken!
Finally, after passing through Edmonton and the vast Canadian Prairie, we arrived in Toronto four days later. The trip taught me that traveling by train allows you to truly experience a country’s beauty, and I can’t wait to share more stories with you when I’m back!
