过去进行时
过去进行时表示在过去某个时刻或时间段内正在进行的动作或存在的状态。
考点1 过去进行时的构成
过去进行时句子中的谓语部分由“was/were+ 现在分词” 构成，与现在进行时结构相似，只是把现在进行时中的am/is/are 变成了was/were。由此可总结过去进行时的句式结构如下：
肯定句 主语+was/were+ 现在分词（+ 其他）. e.g. I was doing my homework at eight last night.
昨晚八点我在做我的作业。
否定句 主语+was/were+not + 现在分词（+ 其他）. e.g. I wasn’t helping my father in the garden at this time yesterday. 昨天这个时间，我没有在花园里帮爸爸干活。
一般
疑问句 —Was/Were+ 主语+ 现在分词（+ 其他）？
—Yes, 主格代词+was/ were./ No, 主格代词+wasn’t/weren’t. e.g. —Were you doing housework at that time 那时你在做家务吗？
—Yes, I was./No, I wasn’t. 是的，我在做。/ 不，我没在做。

考点2 过去进行时的基本用法
用法 例句
过去进行时表示过去某一具体时刻正在进行的动作，常与at that time, at that moment, at this time yesterday, at nine yesterday等表示过去的时间状语连用。 e.g. —What were you doing at seven o’clock last night 昨晚7点你正在做什么？
—I was watching TV.
我正在看电视。
用法 例句
过去进行时还可表示过去某一段时间正在进行的动作，常与those days, that week, last winter等时间状语连用。 e.g. He was visiting Beijing that week.
那个星期他在游览北京。
They were planting trees those days. 那些天他们在植树。
除此之外，过去进行时还常常出现在叙述事情的语境中。 e.g. Mary was dancing. But when she saw me, she stopped.玛丽正在跳舞。但是当她看到我时，就不跳了。
考点3 过去进行时和一般过去时的区别
过去
进行时 强调过去某一时刻或时间段内正在进行或持续的动作。 e.g. He was playing basketball at three yesterday afternoon.昨天下午三点他正在打篮球。
一般
过去时 表示动作发生在过去，且往往已经完成。 e.g. He played basketball yesterday afternoon. 昨天下午他打篮球了。
考点4 过去进行时可以和when, while, as引导的时间状语从句连用，形成复合句。
