Can/Could表请求/允许的用法
情态动词can/could构成的句型可用于向对方委婉地提出请求或征求对方的许可。它们本身不能作谓语，只能和动词原形一起构成谓语。
1.用于委婉地请求别人做某事

2.用于委婉地请求别人允许自己做某事
— Could I go to the movies 我可以去看电影吗？
— Yes, you can. 是的，你可以。
— Can I open the door 我可以开门吗？
— I’m afraid you can’t. It’s too cold!
恐怕不行。天太冷了！
无论是“Could you (please) ... ”还是“Could I ... ” ，问句中的 could 都可用 can 来代替，但是 could 更委婉。且答语中一般都避免使用 could 来回答。
注 意
could 的其他用法如下：
(1)could 为 can 的过去式，表示能力。
He could ride a bike at the age of five.
他五岁时就会骑自行车了。

(2)表示可能性，指对过去、现在或将来的某种可能的推测。
The book could be Lily’s because she likes reading books.
那本书可能是莉莉的，因为她喜欢看书。
(3)表示建议。
