Best, Easy Part-Time Jobs for 2025 (Up to $10k/ Month)
Finding an easy part-time job is a great way to make some extra money. Fortunately, there are
a bunch of good-paying options, including a bunch that let you work from home!
Food Delivery
Estimated pay: varies based on delivery
Delivering for Doordash has become one of the most flexible and easiest part-time jobs you
can have these days. Drivers can pick their hours and deliver in their spare time. Another serious
advantage is that this is a very low-responsibility side job because you’re not required to work a
certain number of hours each week.
Bookkeeper
Estimated pay: $500 to $10,000/ month
Bookkeepers help business owners record and manage daily financial activities. This job can
include paying bills, managing payroll (薪资管理) and collecting payments. If you’re good with
numbers, bookkeeping is an excellent part-time job! Bookkeepers need to be familiar with popular
financial software like Quickbooks and know how to read and create balance sheets.
Online Surveys
Estimated pay: $1-$5 per survey
Taking online surveys isn’t quite a part-time job, but it is one of the easiest ways to make a little
extra money. Surveys help companies improve their products and the overall customer experience,
which is why survey companies are willing to pay for your feedback.
Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
Estimated pay: $30 to $70/ day
Finding a trusted pet sitter is crucial if you have pets and want to go out of town, and it’s why
you can make $30-$70/ day by pet sitting. Pay for pet sitters varies based on where you live, and you
can typically earn on the higher end if you work in a busy urban area or anywhere with a higher cost
of living. The same goes for dog walkers who can make $20-$40/hour. You can start finding your
first consumers by sharing your services on social media, with friends and family, or by talking to
your neighbors.
21. Which part-time job is the most flexible in terms of work hours
A. Food Delivery. B. Bookkeeper.
C. Online Surveys. D. Dog Walker & Pet Sitter.
22. What is a requirement for a bookkeeper
A. Ownership of a bookstore. B. Ability to work flexible hours.
C. Familiarity with financial software. D. No prior experience in finance.
23. How can a new dog walker find his first customer
A. By lowering the service price. B. By starting walking his friend’s dog.
C. By working in a busy urban area. D. By sharing services on blog.
B
It was a normal day, Julia and I were working in the container checking the instruments and
doing other routine operations when the phone rang. It was Ian. He wanted to know if one of us could
go outside to be their polar bear guard for the next few hours. We looked at each other and it was
soon decided that I would go. Julia had more work to do in the container.
Obviously shooting was our last resort; there were a lot of other actions that needed to be taken
beforehand in order to scare the bear away. But, if worse came to worst, we needed to be ready. The
other reason for which a female “newbie” like me was allowed to guard was that I would be working
at the balloon site that is the closest to the ship. This means that in case a polar bear comes we could
reach the ship in just a few minutes and thus it was really unlikely that I would have to use the rifle
Being a polar bear guard is not the most exciting job out there: you have to stand in the cold,
downwind from the group, from where the polar bear is likely to approach because of the smell,
looking at the horizon for several hours. On the other hand, the guard job gives you a lot of time to
think and reflect while staring at this breathtaking landscape. This is one of the reasons why I often
volunteer to be a polar bear guard.
During the last period we had several interesting observations about a big puzzle that we were
trying to solve. While I was reflecting on some elements, I realized that Ian and Julia recovered the
balloon, so I joined them and we headed back to the ship just in time for dinner. We stayed outside
only for a couple of hours but this was enough to refresh my brain with clean Arctic air and come up
with new ideas and thoughts to discuss with the other scientists on board. Similar “recreational”
activities were one of the reasons for which I enjoyed so much this experience and I will certainly
miss them afterwards!
24. Why does the author guard at the balloon site
A. To admire impressive landscapes. B. To withdraw safely from here. C. To send off warning
signals. D. To gather with her colleagues. 25. What does the author mention about her working
place as a polar bear guard A. It is frequently visited by polar bears.
B. It is filled with various wildlife smells.
C. It provides opportunities for reflection.
D. It is extremely cold near the pole.
26. What does the author gain from the work shift
A. Friendship and joy. B. Confidence and courage.
D. Relaxation and insight.
C. Responsibility and duty. 27.
What is the text most likely to be
A. A novel. B. A journal. C. A report. D. A review.

In 1998, a group of friends was making soup together when inspiration struck: they wondered
if they could turn their vegetables into musical instruments. The idea started as a joke, but they
decided to test it out since they were signed up to perform at an upcoming music festival. That's when
the Vegetable Orchestra was born. In the 25 years since, the group has used fresh carrots, pumpkins,
and other vegetables to create around 100 instruments, release four albums, and perform more than
300 concerts all over the world.
Not all vegetables are suitable for music; they need to be fresh enough to handle drilling and
shaping and the right size and shape to produce the required sound. The most challenging part is
preparing for each performance, as the musicians have to constantly make new instruments. Fresh
vegetables only last a few hours after being cut and handled. Therefore, for each city on their tour,
they need to buy fresh vegetables that look and sound interesting in local markets. They then use
drills(钻头), knives, and other kitchen tools to turn the vegetables into violins, flutes, and other
instruments.
Over the decades, the Vegetable Orchestra’s performance style has changed significantly. Even
though the carrot flute and leek violin that appeared at the first concert remain dependable parts of
the collection, the way the orchestra approaches them has matured and transformed over the years.
"In the early days, we were trying to make the vegetables fit our musical compositions; now, it tends
to be the other way around," explains Ingrid Schl gl, a classically trained musician and singer who
joined the orchestra in 2004. "We are developing towards exploring the music of the vegetables and
digging deeper into this element."
Today, the group engages in a variety of musical styles — from free jazz to experimental
electronic. Each member builds their own instruments and develops their specialties over time. They
create their musical compositions through an intensely collaborative process and have developed their
own system of musical notation They have no leader and perform without a conductor,
relying on body language to communicate during performances. "We are such individual people, but
when we are on stage, we are like one body," says Schl gl.
28. What inspires the formation of the Vegetable Orchestra
A. A cooking experience. B. A joke about soup.
C. A music festival. D. A performer's suggestion.
29. What is the most challenging part for the group of musicians A. Finding suitable
vegetables.
B. Making vegetables sound interesting.
C. Creating new instruments for each show.
D. Keeping vegetables fresh during their tours.
30. What does Ingrid Schl gl reveal about their current performances A. They are
experimenting with more types of vegetables.
B. They are exploring the musical potential of vegetables.
C. They are trying to perform classical music with vegetables.
D. They are improving the appearance of vegetable instruments.
31. Which of the following words can best describe the group
A. Disciplined and talented. B. Thoughtful and humorous.
C. Ambitious and conservative. D. Cooperative and innovative.

California has lost half its big trees since the 1930s according to a study published Tuesday.
The number of trees larger than two feet across has decreased by 50% on more than 46, 000 square
miles of California forests, the new study finds. No area was spared or unaffected from the foggy
northern coast to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the San Gabriels above Los Angeles. In the Sierra
high country, the number of big trees has fallen by more than 55%; in parts of southern California the
decrease was nearly 75%.
So serious is this issue that many environmentalists show their concern and try to figure out the
main reasons behind it. Many factors contributed to the decline, said Patrick McIntyre, an ecologist
who was the lead author of the study. Woodcutters preferred big trees. Housing development
encroached on the woods. Heavy wildfire control has left California forests crowded with small trees
that compete with big trees for resources.
But in comparing a study of California forests done in the 1920s and 1930s with another one
between 2001 and 2010, McIntyre and his colleagues documented a widespread death of big trees
that was clear even in wildlands protected from woodcutting or development.
The loss of big trees was greatest in areas where trees had suffered the greatest water shortage.
The researchers figured out water stress with a computer model that calculated how much water trees
were getting in comparison with how much they needed, taking into consideration such things as
rainfall, air temperature, dampness (潮湿) of soil and the timing of snowmelt (融雪) .
“Since the 1930s”, McIntyre said, “the biggest factors driving up water stress in the state have
been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt, which
reduces the water supply available to trees during the dry season. Although the government and
organizations have been taking measures to deal with these problems, we may see even fewer big
trees surviving in the next few decades, if these trends continue.”
32. What’s the purpose of the figures listed in Paragraph 1
A. To prove the seriousness of big-tree loss in California.
B. To present the distribution of big trees in California forests.
C. To compare the differences of big trees in the north and south.
D. To show the different decrease of big trees in different regions.
33. The underlined phrase “encroached on” in Paragraph 2 means_________.
A. Benefited from. B. Pushed into.
C. Kept away from. D. Gave way to.
34. What is McIntyre’s attitude towards the current situation of big trees from the last paragraph
A. Confident. B. Doubtful. C. Concerned. D. Praising.
35. Which can be a suitable title for the text
A. California’s Forests: Why Are Big Trees Important
B. California’s Big Trees: Will Cutting Be Prohibited Soon
C. California’s Forests: Where Have All the Big Trees Gone
D. California’s Big Trees: Should More Be Grown in California

The heavy rain beat against the classroom window as Amelia stared blankly at her math paper.
Ms. Green’s red pen marks were like fresh wounds on the paper — 58/100. She bit her lip until it
hurt, her father’s angry voice ringing in her ears, “If your grades don’t improve, you’ll quit the art
club immediately!”
A shadow fell across her desk. “May I ” Ms. Green’s gentle voice surprised her. Before Amelia
could react, the math teacher had already settled into the nearby seat. “I notice you’ve been struggling
since the parent-teacher meeting,” she said softly, her eyes fixed on the test paper’s crumpled (弄皱
的) edge. “Want to tell me what’s really weighing on your heart ”
Amelia’s tears fell freely as she told the story, especially speaking of her father’s words. Ms.
Green listened quietly, her warm hand covering Amelia’s trembling fingers. “Math and art aren’t
enemies,” she finally said, pulling colored markers from her bag. “Let me show you how math can
dance.”
For the next days, quadratic functions ( 二次方程式 ) were turned into blooming ( 盛开 )
flowers under Ms. Green’s guidance. X-axis became flower stems, parabolas (抛物线) curved into
petals (花瓣), and each solution step blooming. Until one day when the school bell rang, Amelia
breathed a sign of relief — she’d solved three practice problems easily!
“Your mind works in colors, not numbers,” Ms. Green smiled, pressing a new set of study notes
into Amelia’s hands. “We’ll find your unique way to bloom.”

故选 A 项。
The most challenging part is preparing for each performance, as the
musicians have to constantly make new instruments."可知,最具挑战性的部分是为每次演出做准备,因为
音乐家们需要不断地制作新的乐器。故选 C 项。
30. 细节理解题。根据第三段中的"In the early days…digging deeper into this element."可知,Ingrid Schl gl
They create their musical compositions through an intensely collaborative
process"和"relying on body language…like one body"可知,该乐队的乐手们通过紧密的合作创造他们的
We are developing towards exploring the music of the vegetables and digging deeper into this
element."及最后一段中的"have developed their own system of musical notation"可知,他们探索蔬菜本身

California has lost half its big trees since the 1930s according to a study published
Tuesday. The number of trees larger than two feet across has decreased by 50 percent on more than 46, 000 square
miles of California forests, the new study finds. No area was spared or unaffected from the foggy northern coast to
the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the San Gabriels above Los Angeles. In the Sierra high country, the number of big
trees has fallen by more than 55 percent; in parts of southern California the decrease was nearly 75 percent.(根据周
故选 A 项。
Many factors contributed to the decline, said Patrick McIntyre, an
ecologist who was the lead author of the study.
Since the 1930s”, McIntyre said, “the biggest factors driving up water stress
in the state have been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt,
which reduces the water supply available to trees during the dry season. Although the government and organizations
have been taking measures to deal with these problems, we may see even fewer big trees surviving in the next few
decades, if these trends continue.”(McIntyre 说:“自 20 世纪 30 年代以来,导致该州水资源压力上升的最大
California has lost half its big trees since the 1930s according to a study published
Tuesday. The number of trees larger than two feet across has decreased by 50 percent on more than 46, 000 square
miles of California forests, the new study finds. No area was spared or unaffected from the foggy northern coast to

One month later, a maths test arrived. Amelia felt a flutter of nerves at first, but as she opened the paper, her
mind was filled with vivid images of Ms. Green’s colorful teachings. The quadratic functions were transformed into
the petals of flowers in her mind, and the axes became stems supporting them. Her pen danced across the paper,
effortlessly putting down solutions that once seemed like puzzles. When the bell rang, she handed in her paper with
a newfound sense of pride and certainty. Soon the graded test paper was handed out and in bold letter on it was a
perfect score 91/100.
Amelia rushed to Ms. Green’s office happily. “Look!” she exclaimed, waving her test paper. “You showed me
that I could blend my love for art with math,” Amelia said, her voice thick with gratitude. Ms. Green beamed,
“You’ve blossomed in your own way.” Just then, Amelia’s father, who’d been secretly waiting outside, stepped in.
His eyes widened in disbelief, then softened with pride. “I was wrong to doubt you,” he said, pulling Amelia into a
hug. From that day on, Amelia continued to explore both math and art, her heart full of joy and confidence, all
thanks to Ms. Green’s special guidance.

M: If you are interested in investing in startups, this class is perfectly designed for you. I’m Jeffrey Bussgang,
who has been giving this class to college students for over a decade. Today I’m going to share with you two stories.
Songe LaRon and Dave Salvant found themselves drawn to business, and the lack of change in the barbershop
experience caught their attention. So they began the building of Squire, originally a customer-facing app. To
spread the word about it and get immediate feedback, they set up a pop-up barbershop. They discovered that the
app effectively solved the issues they’d experienced as customers but it failed to satisfy barbers’ needs. So they
decided to shift from targeting end consumers to targeting barbershop owners, and purchased a barbershop to learn
how to adapt Squire. Salvant called this a “bet-the-company” move because they used over half their funds. The
risk paid off. They learned the challenges of running a barbershop.
Another story is about Tanya Menendez, who studied Economic Sociology in college. After working in
law, she decided to make a change after graduation. She first joined a leather goods company. After working there
for a year, she noticed it was difficult to find American factories that could make leather goods. To solve this
problem, Menendez created Maker’s Row, an online platform that connects American factories with designers.
These startup stories shed light on the importance of understanding customer needs and adapting business models

Best, Easy Part-Time Jobs for 2025 (Up to $10k/Month)
Finding an easy part-time job is a great way to make some extra money. Fortunately, there are a bunch of good-paying options, including a bunch that let you work from home!
Food Delivery
Estimated pay: varies based on delivery
Delivering for Doordash has become one of the most flexible and easiest part-time jobs you can have these days. Drivers can pick their hours and deliver in their spare time. Another serious advantage is that this is a very low-responsibility side job because you’re not required to work a certain number of hours each week.
Bookkeeper
Estimated pay: $500 to $10,000/month
Bookkeepers help business owners record and manage daily financial activities. This job can include paying bills, managing payroll(薪资管理) and collecting payments. If you’re good with numbers, bookkeeping is an excellent part-time job! Bookkeepers need to be familiar with popular financial software like Quickbooks and know how to read and create balance sheets.
Online Surveys
Estimated pay: $1 $5 per survey
Taking online surveys isn’t quite a part-time job, but it is one of the easiest ways to make a little extra money. Surveys help companies improve their products and the overall customer experience, which is why survey companies are willing to pay for your feedback.
Dog Walker & Pet Sitter
Estimated pay: $30 to $70/day
Finding a trusted pet sitter is crucial if you have pets and want to go out of town, and it’s why you can make $30 $70/ day by pet sitting. Pay for pet sitters varies based on where you live, and you can typically earn on the higher end if you work in a busy urban area or anywhere with a higher cost of living. The same goes for dog walkers who can make $20 $40/hour. You can start finding your first consumers by sharing your services on social media, with friends and family, or by talking to your neighbours.

It was a normal day, Julia and I were working in the container checking the instruments and doing other routine operations when the phone rang. It was Ian. He wanted to know if one of us could go outside to be their polar bear guard for the next few hours. We looked at each other and it was soon decided that I would go. Julia had more work to do in the container.
Obviously shooting was our last resort; there were a lot of other actions that needed to be taken beforehand in order to scare the bear away. But, if worse came to worst, we needed to be ready. The other reason for which a female “newbie” like me was allowed to guard was that I would be working at the balloon site that is the closest to the ship. This means that in case a polar bear comes we could reach the ship in just a few minutes and thus it was really unlikely that I would have to use the rifle(步枪).
Being a polar bear guard is not the most exciting job out there: you have to stand in the cold, downwind from the group, from where the polar bear is likely to approach because of the smell, looking at the horizon for several hours. On the other hand, the guard job gives you a lot of time to think and reflect while staring at this breathtaking landscape. This is one of the reasons why I often volunteer to be a polar bear guard.
During the last period we had several interesting observations about a big puzzle that we were trying to solve. While I was reflecting on some elements, I realized that Ian and Julia recovered the balloon, so I joined them and we headed back to the ship just in time for dinner. We stayed outside only for a couple of hours but this was enough to refresh my brain with clean Arctic air and come up with new ideas and thoughts to discuss with the other scientists on board. Similar “recreational” activities were one of the reasons for which I enjoyed so much this experience and I will certainly miss them afterwards!
24. Why does the author guard at the balloon site
A. To admire impressive landscapes. B. To withdraw safely from here.
C. To send off warning signals. D. To gather with her colleagues.
25. What does the author mention about her working place as a polar bear guard
A. It is frequently visited by polar bears.
B. It is filled with various wildlife smells.
C. It provides opportunities for reflection.
D. It is extremely cold near the pole.
26. What does the author gain from the work shift
A. Friendship and joy. B. Confidence and courage.
C. Responsibility and duty. D. Relaxation and insight.
27. What is the text most likely to be
A. A novel. B. A journal. C. A report. D. A review.
C
In 1998, a group of friends was making soup together when inspiration struck: they wondered if they could turn their vegetables into musical instruments. The idea started as a joke, but they decided to test it out since they were signed up to perform at an upcoming music festival. That’s when the Vegetable Orchestra was born. In the 25 years since, the group has used fresh carrots, pumpkins, and other vegetables to create around 100 instruments, release four albums, and perform more than 300 concerts all over the world.
Not all vegetables are suitable for music; they need to be fresh enough to handle drilling and shaping and the right size and shape to produce the required sound. The most challenging part is preparing for each performance, as the musicians have to constantly make new instruments. Fresh vegetables only last a few hours after being cut and handled. Therefore, for each city on their tour, they need to buy fresh vegetables that look and sound interesting in local markets. They then use drills(钻头), knives, and other kitchen tools to turn the vegetables into violins, flutes, and other instruments.
Over the decades, the Vegetable Orchestra’s performance style has changed significantly. Even though the carrot flute and leek violin that appeared at the first concert remain dependable parts of the collection, the way the orchestra approaches them has matured and transformed over the years. “In the early days, we were trying to make the vegetables fit our musical compositions; now, it tends to be the other way around,” explains Ingrid Schl gl, a classically trained musician and singer who joined the orchestra in 2004. “We are developing towards exploring the music of the vegetables and digging deeper into this element.”
Today, the group engages in a variety of musical styles — from free jazz to experimental electronic. Each member builds their own instruments and develops their specialties over time. They create their musical compositions through an intensely collaborative process and have developed their own system of musical notation(音乐符号). They have no leader and perform without a conductor, relying on body language to communicate during performances. “We are such individual people, but when we are on stage, we are like one body,” says Schl gl.
28. What inspires the formation of the Vegetable Orchestra
A. A cooking experience. B. A joke about soup.
C. A music festival. D. A performer’s suggestion.
29. What is the most challenging part for the group of musicians
A. Finding suitable vegetables.
B. Making vegetables sound interesting.
C. Creating new instruments for each show.
D. Keeping vegetables fresh during their tours.
30. What does Ingrid Schl gl reveal about their current performances
A. They are experimenting with more types of vegetables.

The number of trees larger than two feet across has decreased by 50% on more than 46,000 square miles of California forests, the new study finds. No area was spared or unaffected from the foggy northern coast to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the San Gabriels above Los Angeles. In the Sierra high country, the number of big trees has fallen by more than 55%; in parts of southern California the decrease was nearly 75%.
So serious is this issue that many environmentalists show their concern and try to figure out the main reasons behind it. Many factors contributed to the decline, said Patrick McIntyre, an ecologist who was the lead author of the study. Woodcutters preferred big trees. Housing development encroached on the woods. Heavy wildfire control has left California forests crowded with small trees that compete with big trees for resources.
But in comparing a study of California forests done in the 1920s and 1930s with another one between 2001 and 2010, McIntyre and his colleagues documented a widespread death of big trees that was clear even in wildlands protected from woodcutting or development.
The loss of big trees was greatest in areas where trees had suffered the greatest water shortage. The researchers figured out water stress with a computer model that calculated how much water trees were getting in comparison with how much they needed, taking into consideration such things as rainfall, air temperature, dampness(潮湿) of soil and the timing of snowmelt(融雪).
“Since the 1930s”, McIntyre said, “the biggest factors driving up water stress in the state have been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt, which reduces the water supply available to trees during the dry season. Although the government and organizations have been taking measures to deal with these problems, we may see even fewer big trees surviving in the next few decades, if these trends continue.”
32. What’s the purpose of the figures listed in Paragraph 1
A. To prove the seriousness of big-tree loss in California.
B. To present the distribution of big trees in California forests.
C. To compare the differences of big trees in the north and south.
D. To show the different decrease of big trees in different regions.
33. The underlined phrase “encroached on” in Paragraph 2 means _____________.
A. benefited from B. pushed into C. kept away from D. gave way to

She bit her lip until it hurt, her father’s angry voice ringing in her ears, “If your grades don’t improve, you’ll quit the art club immediately!”
A shadow fell across her desk. “May I ” Ms. Green’s gentle voice surprised her. Before Amelia could react, the math teacher had already settled into the nearby seat. “I notice you’ve been struggling since the parent-teacher meeting,” she said softly, her eyes fixed on the test paper’s crumpled(弄皱的) edge. “Want to tell me what’s really weighing on your heart ”
Amelia’s tears fell freely as she told the story, especially speaking of her father’s words. Ms. Green listened quietly, her warm hand covering Amelia’s trembling fingers. “Math and art aren’t enemies,” she finally said, pulling colored markers from her bag. “Let me show you how math can dance.”
For the next days, quadratic functions(二次方程式) were turned into blooming(盛开) flowers under Ms. Green’s guidance. X-axis became flower stems, parabolas(抛物线) curved into petals(花瓣), and each solution step blooming. Until one day when the school bell rang, Amelia breathed a sign of relief — she’d solved three practice problems easily!
“Your mind works in colors, not numbers,” Ms. Green smiled, pressing a new set of study notes into Amelia’s hands. “We’ll find your unique way to bloom.”

第二节
One month later, a maths test arrived. Amelia felt a flutter of nerves at first, but as she opened the paper, her mind was filled with vivid images of Ms. Green’s colorful teachings. The quadratic functions were transformed into the petals of flowers in her mind, and the axes became stems supporting them. Her pen danced across the paper, effortlessly putting down solutions that once seemed like puzzles. When the bell rang, she handed in her paper with a newfound sense of pride and certainty. Soon the graded test paper was handed out and in bold letter on it was a perfect score 91/100.
Amelia rushed to Ms. Green’s office happily. “Look!” she exclaimed, waving her test paper. “You showed me that I could blend my love for art with math,” Amelia said, her voice thick with gratitude. Ms. Green beamed, “You’ve blossomed in your own way.” Just then, Amelia’s father, who’d been secretly waiting outside, stepped in. His eyes widened in disbelief, then softened with pride. “I was wrong to doubt you,” he said, pulling Amelia into a hug. From that day on, Amelia continued to explore both math and art, her heart full of joy and confidence, all thanks to Ms. Green’s special guidance.
