Last summer vacation, my parents surprised us with a weekend camping trip to Pinewood Forest. I had never been camping before, so I felt both excited and nervous. My younger brother Jake, however, was jumping for joy, already imagining the adventure.
Early Saturday morning, we packed our tent, sleeping bags, and plenty of snacks into the car. The two-hour drive took us far from the noisy city into peaceful countryside. Tall pine trees stood like quiet guards as we entered the forest.
When we arrived, Dad gave me an important job. “Emma, you’ll lead us to the campsite (营地) using this map,” he said. My hands shook as I unfolded (打开) the map — I’d never done this before! Jake helped by pointing at landmarks like special-shaped trees and colorful flowers. After some wrong turns, we finally found our perfect spot by a beautiful lake.
While Dad and Jake worked on setting up our blue tent, Mom taught me how to collect good firewood. “Look for dry branches about this thick,” she said, showing me with her fingers. I found some interesting things too-shiny rocks, fuzzy caterpillars (毛毛虫), and even a bird’s nest!
As the sun began to set, we built our campfire. The dancing flames made funny shadows on our faces while Mom showed us how to cook noodles over the fire. Just when our food was ready, disaster struck-a sudden rainstorm! We grabbed everything and ran into the tent, laughing as we ate sandwiches instead of our planned meal. The rain beat loudly on the tent all night, but Jake slept through it all like a baby.
When it was time to leave, Mom asked if we’d like to camp again. Jake shouted “YES!” before she even finished the question. I thought about the rain, the map troubles, and my empty fishing line... and realized I’d had the best time ever. “Definitely!” I answered, smiling. “But next time, let’s bring a better map!”

China is taking great strides (进展) to help people manage their weight and lead healthier lives. The government has started a three-year “Weight Management Year” program from 2024 to 2027 to fight obesity (肥胖), which can lead to serious health problems such as diabetes (糖尿病) and heart disease. Here’s what you should know.
Firstly, it is necessary to check your BMI (Body Mass Index). For adults, a healthy BMI falls within the range of 18.5 to 24. If your BMI is between 24 and 28, you are considered overweight; a BMI of 28 or higher shows obesity. Moreover, doctors recommend measuring your waist: men should keep it under 90cm , and women under 85cm.
Eating right is important, and exercise matters just as much. When it comes to diet, choose whole grains like brown rice, fresh vegetables, and fish, chicken, or beans. Say no to fried foods and sugary snacks, and also limit your salt and oil intake.
When exercising, aim for 150 to 300 minutes of activities like walking, cycling or dancing each week, and strength exercises twice a week. If you find yourself sitting for hours while studying, make sure to stand up and stretch (伸展) for 3 to 5 minutes every hour.
Besides diet and exercise, small daily habits can also make a big difference. Teens should get 7 hours of sleep nightly, as poor sleep can make them put on weight. Try eating vegetables first, then meat, and finally rice or bread during meals to control part sizes.
Schools and communities are also paying attention to it. For example, schools in Shanghai now make sure that students, do at least two hours of daily exercise, and hospitals offer “weight clinics” with diet plans, exercise tips, and even traditional Chinese methods like acupuncture (针灸). By 2030, China hopes to slow down the growth of obesity through education and support.
Remember, losing weight isn’t about perfection—simply start with small changes, like having water instead of soda or taking the stairs instead of lift. With these effortless steps, everyone can build a healthier future.
31.In which way is China taking great strides according to the passage
A.Starting a three-year program to fight obesity.
B.Helping people control their weight and live a healthy life.
C.Leading to serious diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
D.Enabling Chinese to put on weight and lead a healthier life.
32.What are you considered if your BMI is 27
A.Too thin. B.Healthy. C.Overweight. D.Obesity.

A.4 minutes. B.15 minutes. C.An hour. D.2 minutes.
34.What is TRUE according to the passage
A.Eating right is more important than exercising.

35.What is the writer’s attitude towards the future of weight management in China

Have you ever tasted a kind of snack, which is also of the traditional Chinese of forms of art—sugar painting.
Sugar painting started from the Ming Dynasty and became popular in the Qing Dynasty. At that time, many people made a living through sugar painting, setting up stalls(货摊)in crowded streets, in front of theatres and busy public places. And now it can still be found in many areas of China.
The sugar painters usually sit before a wooden table. On the side, there is a wooden plate with a revolvable arrow(可旋转箭头)on it. The plate is painted with different pictures such as a dragon, a bird, a flower and so on. After paying, the customers turn the arrow and wait till it stops. The picture pointed by the arrow is the one the painters will make.
Sugar painting is very different from normal painting. The sugar painters use syrup(糖浆)as the material, a spoon as the “paintbrush”, and a smooth slab(台面)as the “paper”. To make the syrup, they have to make sugar hot before painting. Since the syrup may become solid(固体的)if it cools, the painters have to produce the work very quickly. They move the spoon full of the syrup up and down, left and right. Soon a sugar painting of an animal, a flower or a bike is done.
The number of sugar painters is getting smaller. However, some of them still insist on this art. They make their efforts to hold different activities such as offering classes and giving speeches. Now, sugar painting has already been listed as National Non-Material Culture Heritage.
