A new study, conducted by British company Mindlab International, has found that listening to music at work increases accuracy(精确) and speed,The Telegraph reported.
Perhaps, some parents disagree with this idea, saying,“Switch off the music and concentrate!”Well,if that’s the case with your parents, you might now be able to convince them that you have science on your side.
The company gave 26 participants a series of different tasks for five days in a row, including spell checking, mathematical word problems, data entry, and abstract reasoning. The participants completed these tasks while listening to music or no music at all.
The results showed that while music was playing,88% of participants produced their most accurate test results and 81% completed their fastest work.David Lewis, chairman of Mindlab International, told The Telegraph,“Music is a very powerful management tool if you want to increase not only the efficiency of your workforce but also their emotional state...they are going to become more positive about the work.”
However, you may have a list of your favorite songs, but not all kinds of music match all homework. For maths or other subjects involving numbers or attention to detail, you should listen to classical music, the study found. In the study, pop music enabled participants to complete their tasks 58% faster than when listening to no music at all.If you are reviewing your English writing, pop music is the best choice,as it is the best kind for spell checking. It cut mistakes by 14%,compared to listening to no music. After finishing your homework,do you often take time to check your answers Maybe, some dance music is suitable for you.

Like all big cities, Paris has a traffic problem: lots of cars, lots of traffic jams and lots of pollution from exhaust fumes (废气). So the city began a scheme (计划) to improve the situation.
Under the Velib scheme (“Velib” comes from vélo liberté, or “bicycle freedom”) people can take a bicycle, use it for as long as they want, and then leave it at the same or another bicycle station. The first half-hour on the bike is free, but if you don't return it after 30 minutes, you have to pay. But it's only 1 a day or 29 a year! The bicycles are heavy (25 kg), and they are all grey and have baskets. There are about 20,000 of them in the city, and around 1,450 bicycle stations. So there are a lot more Velib stations than the 298 subway stations!
Paris is not the first city to have a scheme like this. But not everybody thinks it's a great idea. One Parisian said, “These bicycles are only for short journeys. If people want to travel across the city, they won't use a bicycle—they'll still use their cars.”
A city spokesman said, “The bicycle scheme won't solve all our traffic problems, of course. But it might help reduce air pollution. Traffic, together with factory fumes, is a big problem. There aren't any simple solutions to traffic problems and pollution in cities. But unless we do something now, there will be more traffic jams and temperatures will continue to rise, and therefore, the problems in our environment will get worse. The bikes might help people to lead a healthier life, too.”
28.What can we learn about the Velib scheme
A. Its bikes have no baskets. B. Its bikes are light and colorful.
C. It aims to make traveling easier. D. It owns more stations than the subway.
29.If you use a Velib bicycle for 1 hour, how much should you pay
A. l. B. 30. C. 29. D. No money.
30.Why do some people disagree with the Velib scheme
A. The cost is rather high.
B. It's hard to find a Velib station.
C. It's not suitable for a long journey.
D. The distance between two Velib stations is long.
31.What's the city spokesman's attitude towards the bicycle scheme
A. Doubtful. B. Positive. C. Uncaring. D. Worried.
D
For many years now, scientists have reported that we,as human beings, are affecting and changing the Earth’s climate. They say that,in particular, the last 50 years has seen a huge increase in the quantity of greenhouse gases being released into our atmosphere from factories and vehicles, and that this increase is speeding up the process known as global warming.Scientists believe global warming to be by far the biggest environmental problem of the 21st century. So what is it,how is it a danger, and why is it relevant to us
Global warming is the term used to show a rise in the Earth’s temperature which,in turn, causes changes to the Earth’s climate.Scientists have discovered that the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which trap the heat from the Sun,control the temperature. When the greenhouse gases increase, more heat is trapped and the Earth’s temperature rises.
The Earth’s temperature has increased by one degree Fahrenheit in the last 100 years.Much of this has been attributed to human activities, such as increased industry, agriculture, the falling of forests, the rise in transport and the burning of fuels.
One degree Fahrenheit may not sound like much, but if we continue to produce greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide,we will have to face the repercussions(影响,后果).Scientists warn that global warming will cause catastrophic climate changes, including more frequent flooding, drought and extreme weather. The increase in pollution will also cause serious health impacts and affect agriculture directly.
The melting of the polar ice caps will also have direct consequences, with sea levels rising causing flooding in low-lying areas, such as islands and coastal cities.
So,how can we stop this from happening Governments everywhere have a responsibility to reduce the production of greenhouse gases. But we can make small changes too.Every person needs to play his/her part.Suggestions include recycling, using public transport, using less water at home, using more energy efficient appliances and switching off lights.Small personal changes will add up to big changes worldwide if we all develop these habits for all of our lives, that is,70 years or so.
32.What is by far the biggest environmental problem of the twenty-first century
A.Air pollution. B.Greenhouse gases. C.Climate changes. D.Global warming.
33.How long did it take the Earth’s temperature to increase by one degree Fahrenheit
A. 50 years. B. 21 years. C. A century. D. 70 years.
34.What is the best summary of this passage
A. Global warming has become so serious that everyone should take action.
B. A detailed introduction to global warming.
C. Governments of all countries should call on everyone to take action.
D. It’s never too late for everyone to take steps to prevent global warming.
35.What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A. The author affirms that governments should take action firstly.
B. The author believes we will stop global warming some day.
C. The author takes it for granted that small personal changes can have a small influence.
D. The author suggests everyone should play a role in reducing the production of green gases.

故填 have graduated。
故填 The。
with。 60.
处用一般过去时,且动词 found 和主语 the People’s Republic of China 是被动关
系,所以用一般过去时的被动语态,主语为 the People’s Republic of China,谓语
故填 was founded。
that/which。 62.

Learning English Beyond the Classroom
Nowadays , with the growing popularity of smartphones and computers , an
increasing number of students are choosing to learn English beyond the classroom in
various ways.
It can easily be seen that the percentage of students who choose listening to English
songs and watching English movies is respectively 65% and 50%.However, those
choosing reading English books and visiting English learning websites only account for
18% and 12%.
As far as I’m concerned,it is a disturbing trend. For students, what benefits most to
their study is reading English books.Because of their lack of self-discipline,they’re
more easily addicted to chatting online or playing games. It’s urgent for students
themselves to improve their self-discipline , and it’s also urgent for parents and
teachers to strengthen the guidance.
