A 12-minute piece of music composed by Mozart has been discovered in a library in Germany. Researchers think the composer wrote the previously unknown piece-called Serenade in C-when he was a young teenager.
The composition was found in the holdings of Germany’s Leipzig Municipal Libraries-some 280 miles north of Salzburg, Austria, where Mozart was born in 1756. Although Mozart wrote this piece when he was only a teenager, it was not uncommon for him to write music in his childhood. Mozart began to perform around Austria from the age of five and shortly afterwards became famous as a composer.
Mozart probably wrote the recently discovered composition between the mid and late 1760s, according to a statement from the Leipzig Municipal Libraries. Library researchers were compiling (编辑) an edition of the Kochel catalog, a collection of Mozart’s works, when they came across a mysterious bound manuscript (装订好的手稿) containing a handwritten composition in brown ink. The composition is thought to have been written by Mozart. The handwriting, however, is not Mozart’s, suggesting that the manuscript is a copy of the original composition. The researchers think it was made around 1780.
The researchers say the music fits stylistically with other works from the 1760s, when Mozart was between the ages of 10 and13. The young composer was no longer creating pieces that sounded like this one by the time he was in his late teens.
In his early years, Mozart wrote many chamber works like Serenade in C, which his father recorded on a list of his son’s compositions. Many of these works were thought to have been lost to history. Luckily, this particular piece was saved–thanks to the composer’ s sister. “It looks as if a complete string trio (二重奏曲) has survived in Leipzig,” Leisinger, a worker from the International Mozarteum Foundation, says. “The source was obviously Mozart’s sister, who perhaps preserved the work in memory of her brother.”
24.What does the second paragraph intend to show about Mozart
A.His talent at a young age. B.His connection to Salzburg.
C.His preference for performing. D.His popularity all around the world.
25.On what basis do the researchers date Serenade in C
A.The title of the composition. B.The style of the composition.
C.The number in the Kochel catalog. D.The color of the ink used in the copy.
26.Why is Mozart’s sister mentioned
A.She had a positive influence on Mozart.
B.She was the first to perform Serenade in C.
C. She helped Mozart compose Serenade in C.
D.She was the one who preserved Serenade in C.
27.Which of the following is the best title for the text
A.Mozart’s Works Need Updating.
B.Mozart’s Works Attract New Attention.
C.A Lost Mozart Composition Was Discovered.
D.Researchers Uncovered the Early Life of Mozart.

There can be no doubt that Stephen King, New York Time’s Best-Selling author, has found success in many aspects, but it wasn’t always like this. King witnessed tragedy and horrors from the very beginning. When he was 2 years old, his father told his mom that he was going out to get cigarettes but in fact, he never came back, he had abandoned his family.
This left his mother Ruth to care for Stephen and his elder brother David on her own. Ruth was forced to move often, desperately looking for work as she was now the only provider of the family, and she had to rely on relatives most of the time. One day Stephen went out to play with friends and when he came back, he wasn’t even able to speak a single word, it seemed he was hurt mentally or something, but he still got the courage to continue forward. It turned out that one of his friends was hit by a train and died, which left an emotional scar on him.
King, later on, dropped out of school due to some serious health concerns and was told that he had to enlist (入伍) again the next fall, which demotivated him too. Although Stephen King didn’t see his childhood as something extraordinary or special, he did say that he was always fascinated by scary things. People used to acknowledge the King family by their love of literature, in fact whenever Stephen’s mom had to go out, she didn’t hire a babysitter, for the kids used to read novels to each other so they would not get bored. Stephen King’s love of stories was developed from a very young age and he carried that tradition with his own children along with his wife Tabitha.
In 1973, Stephen King started his amazing journey of success when he published his first novel Carrie, which is scary. The rest followed from after that as he published many amazing books like The Shining, IT, Firestarter, and Cujo. All of these books became instant classics and got their own movie and television shows adaptions.

A.He was knocked down by a passing train. B.He was badly criticized by a close friend.
C.He was depressed by the constant moves. D.He was heart-struck by a terrible accident.
30.What does the underlined word “demotivated” in paragraph 3 mean
A.Discouraged. B.Relaxed. C.Embarrassed. D.Inspired.
31.Why didn’t Stephen’s mom hire a babysitter
A.The family was too poor to hire a babysitter. B.The family could not find a proper babysitter.
C.The children could actually entertain themselves. D.The children didn’t like to be cared for by others.

For years, doctors have given blood to patients who need it to survive. These transfusions usually include giving red blood cells to patients.
Blood transfusions aren’t as simple as taking blood from one person and giving it to someone else. There’re several different blood types that don’t all mix well. If someone gets a transfusion of the wrong kind of blood, their body will reject the blood cells, causing problems. For the first time ever, scientists from the University of Bristol, Britain, are carrying out a new trail: testing red blood cells grown in a laboratory on human volunteers. The scientists have used stem cells (干细胞) from a blood sample to grow billions of brand new red blood cells.
This could be even better than a regular blood transfusion. For one thing, they can be adjusted for people with different blood types. That’ll be extremely helpful for people with rare blood types. Also, a normal transfusion has red blood cells of all different ages, which means only a small part of them are brand new. The red blood cells grown in the lab are brand new, and this means they last longer and that patients will need fewer transfusions.
To test its safety, researchers have given a couple of teaspoons of the blood to two healthy people, both of whom seem to be doing just fine after the transfusions. In all, they’ll be tested on 10 people, and compared to normal transfusions. The new process doesn’t indicate that normal blood transfusions will disappear. Meanwhile, growing red blood cells in a lab is extremely expensive. And a lot of work and testing still need to be done. But if it’s successful, the process could make life much easier for patients who often need transfusions—even those with rare blood types.
32.Why are the scientists carrying out the research
A.The blood reserve is not adequate.
B.Normal blood transfusions are out of date.
C.More and more people need blood transfusions.
D.They want to find a new trail of blood transfusions.
33.What’s the advantages of the brand new red blood cells grown in the lab
A.They suit the patients of all different ages.
B.They have red blood cells from different races.
C.They are effective to the patients for a longer term.
D.It is extremely economical and makes life much easier.
34.Which of the following statements is true
A.The research still has a long way to go.
B.Normal blood transfusions will disappear soon.
C.Ten people have received the lab-grown brand new blood.
D.The brand new blood isn’t fit for those with rare blood types.
35.What is the passage mainly about
A.The test of lab-grown blood. B.Comparison of two blood transfusions.
C.An appeal for rare blood donation. D.The expense of blood transfusions.

The Sunday scaries refer to an over-whelming feeling of fear and anxiety about going to work or school the next day. 36 But even though the Sunday scaries are common, they are manageable. Here’s how experts say you can ease your end-of-weekend anxiety.
Structure your Sunday.
Structure can be a best friend when feeling the Sunday scaries. Instead of sitting on the couch and watching the clock, go to do something that you enjoy. You might still get a sense of fear. 37 Thus, you should anticipate the weekend as a time to relax, connect with friends and family, and address items from a to-do list that get neglected during the workweek.
Don’t forget to relax.
When structuring your Sunday, try not to stuff in large quantities of business and chores. 38 Whatever feels like a helpful distraction to revive yourself can be adopted, maybe a body meditation, maybe a midafternoon bath, maybe an engaging show.
39
Anxiety is a normal human experience, and one of the main ways to manage it is to find out your personal triggers. So you need to pinpoint what’s really causing you to fear the week—Is it a deadline meeting Or presentation Also, it is necessary to create multiple to-do lists, which can help put into perspective what’s important and what you can let go of for now. By doing all of these, you can decrease the anticipation of the stress and fear of the upcoming week.
Create some excitement for the week ahead.
Getting rid of the Sunday scaries isn’t just about minimizing the doom and gloom of the week ahead, either.
Having something to look forward to gives you something to think about what’s pleasing, rather than just noticing the fear you feel. It’s a form of reframing your thoughts: Instead of focusing on the awful things you expect from the week, build excitement over a coffee or lunch date with a friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with. 40 .
A.Reduce your sense of anxiety.
B.Identify your anxiety sources.
C.It is vital to make space for activities to relieve yourself.
D.It is being experienced physically and mentally by most people.
E.This can help decrease the feeling of stress and fear of the week
F.This gives you the opportunity to shift your mindset and will improve your mood.
G.But that feeling is harder to hold on to when you are really engaged in something that make you feel good.

It was a sunny autumn morning during the break at Sunshine High School. The passages were filled with sounds of the students chatting and laughing cheerfully. In a classroom on the first floor, some of the freshmen were catching up on their homework, while others were sharing stories about their weekends.
Among them were Alex, a tall and well-built boy crazy about fitness. He was tidying up the teacher’s desk in the front of the classroom. Alex was a popular fellow, always wearing a big smile on his face and ready to help others. Alex’s deskmate Ben was busy preparing for his favourite literature class to be given by their headteacher Ms Eyre. Ben was a newcomer who had just joined the class a week before. He had suffered from a rare condition that led to his extremely limited physical strength, a thin body and reliance on a wheelchair for mobility. Ben usually left his wheelchair outside classrooms during school due to the restricted room capacity. Despite his disability, his friendly nature and optimistic attitude to life quickly endeared him to his new classmates.
Every student was enjoying their brief break when suddenly the ground started to shake violently, sending almost all the books and learning tools flying off the desks. Next, the familiar sound of earthquake alarms rang loudly throughout the school. “Earthquake! Take cover under the desks!” shouted Alex. Thanks to the regular emergency drills (演练) by the school, the students didn’t panic but immediately sprang into action. They quickly pushed away their chairs and hid under the desks, just as they had been taught and practiced many times.
However, Ben, who had never experienced such a disaster, was terribly frightened and at a loss what to do. Seated on his chair and holding on to the edge of his desk, he was trembling along with the ground, his face turning deadly pale. Aware of Ben’s situation, Alex, rose to his feet from under the teacher’s desk.

Last week, we held a coming-of-age ceremony in the school hall, which left a deep impression on me.
During the event, we looked back on our growth and learned more about ing-of-age means a person grows up and begins to take social responsibilities. At 18, we should cherish our youth, learn to think, and learn to be grateful and independent.
Looking ahead, I dream of being a scientist. To attain my goal, I will attach greater importance to exercising my body and mind. I firmly believe my dream will come true.
67.One possible version
He made his way to Ben, saying firmly, “Don’t panic! We’ll get out safe.” Ben, his eyes wide with fear, nodded with a forced smile. The second the ground stopped shaking, the students didn’t hesitate to come out from under the desks and make for the exit in an orderly fashion, following the route they were familiar with from the drills. Alex quickly lifted Ben out of his chair, carried him in his strong arms and made his way out of the classroom. He put Ben into his wheelchair outside and pushed it forward quickly. They succeeded in escaping from the teaching building to the open ground.
As Ms Eyre made it to her classroom, she found nobody left behind. Relieved, she quickly reached the playground where her class gathered. When she scanned the crowd and finally spotted Ben, she hurried over, patting him on the shoulder and saying, “Thank goodness, Ben. You’re here.” “Alex helped me out,” Ben responded with gratitude. “You did a great job.” Ms Eyre praised Alex, who just shrugged, saying smilingly, “We’re all here. That’s what matters.” Everyone clapped. The students’ unity and courage made this earthquake an unforgettable experience, strengthening their bond and deepening their understanding of how vital it was to look out for each other.
