My family first moved to Colorado 22 years ago. Los Angeles was too expensive and it was difficult to find well-paying jobs and affordable housing. Colorado became our next dream place. Settling into a small town in the Front Range, my parents found hard jobs.
Growing up in this small town, I remember my parents working hard to get past the language barrier. My mom, especially, tried her best to ensure she knew all that she needed to know about like my parent-teacher meetings and extracurricular (课外的) activities. One of those extracurricular activities that I signed up for was football. At that age, football was cool and all, but I was more into playing Pokémon and other video games. Football didn’t draw me in.
Big football tournaments (联赛) would come around like the World Cup, the Copa América and the Gold Cup, and the Mexican National Team would play in these tournaments. I would sit there in our living room and unmindfully watch the games while my parents would go crazy with enthusiasm ( 热情). I would sit there and play my game. My dad would look over and tell me that I should be paying attention carefully to the game and that I should care more about whether Mexico would win the match than my video games.
Both of my parents’ workspaces were crowded (占满的) with other workers. My mom worked with people from all over Latin America. Everyone’s topic of choice at work would always turn to how their national football team was doing. It was a way to show pride in the countries where they had grown up.

When we drove through a twenty-foot-tall fence and entered the Okonjima Camp in central Namibia, the first question on our minds was whether the fence was being used to keep animals in or out. Our guide was quick to say, “Out.” The Okonjima Camp works with the AfriCat Foundation that accepts injured big cats. So there was no shortage of cats, and on that first night, we heard growls (咆哮) from our houses. How close we were! I hope nobody left the gate open.
The next day of our Africa trip started with a journey outside the fences and protected zone to track a mother leopard (花豹) and her baby the guide had seen the previous day, and we were happy to find them very quickly. The mother leopard was aware of our presence but was relaxed since our car was a healthy distance away, and we sat for 45 minutes watching the sweet interactions between mother and baby.
Later in the day, the guide said we would go on a hike. Everything we were told before about staying in the vehicle and not leaving the fenced arca of the camp was put aside. We were going to find cheetahs (猎豹). It is safer to approach cheetahs, keeping a safe distance, and our guide got out earphones to listen on the leopards’ radio collar (颈圈) frequency to see if any were in the area. No leopards, no problems. Let’s go look for cheetahs, and we did find them. Well, I didn’t. Our guide’s tracking skills were phenomenal. He quickly found them somehow lying in the shade of some tall grass. After some time, they stood up on their long legs. No cheetah-fast speed, but a silent walk into the bushes (灌木丛).

A.Tourism in Namibia.
B.An adventure with big cats in Namibia.

How to teach kids responsibility
We'd all like our kids to develop into responsible people. How can we help to ensure that our kids learn the lessons of responsibility Here are some ideas:
Start them with tasks when they're young.
36 They can do a lot more than you think if you're patient and creative. Encourage them to begin at an early age, and this helps them build confidence and enthusiasm for later tasks in their life.
Don't use rewards with your kids.
If you want your kids to develop a natural sense of responsibility, they need to learn what they do affects others not just themselves. 37
Use natural consequences when they make mistakes.
If they keep losing their baseball glove somewhere, let them deal with the consequences. Maybe they have to ask to borrow one for the game. 38 If you rescue them every time they make a mistake, they'll never learn responsibility.
39
This is where they'll learn it from. Take care of your stuff. Try to be on time. They're watching you very closely.
Give them an allowance(零用钱) early in their life.
Let them make their own money decisions from an early age. They'll learn their lessons in a hurry. 40
A.Model responsible behavior for your kids.
B.Maybe they have to buy a new one if it's lost.
C.Don't help them out if they run out of money.
D.Train your kids to be responsible and careful.
E.They won't learn that if they're focused on what they're going to “get”.
F.Young kids have a strong desire to help out, even as young as age two.
G.They'll pick up on this belief and they'll tend to rise to the level of expectation.

第二节(满分25分)
67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Last Saturday, I drove back home from a long hard day. It was snowing heavily and the traffic inched slowly forward like snails. I was so hungry because I skipped my lunch that I decided to stop by KFC and had a quick bite before I continued my journey home. It took me a long time to find a place to park my car. With my face buried in my collar, I walked slowly in the snow. Soon my hands were numb(麻木) with cold, so I pulled my gloves out of my coat pocket and put them on.
I ordered some fried chicken and dug into my pocket for my wallet to pay, only to find it was not there! I remembered I did bring it with me before I set out. Embarrassed, I left the chicken on the counter and said I would return in a minute. Deeply worried, I got out of KFC and ran towards my car, wondering where my wallet, with everything in it, was.
Fresh snow was like a blank paper, recording my tracks. My attention fixed on the ground, I expected to find it on my way. Unfortunately, what I found was only the shape of it in the snow. Obviously, I lost it when I pulled my gloves out. Judging from the footprints on the ground, I was not the only one. There was someone else joining my way. But the footprints of this guy were messy. It seemed that he walked back and forth. My heart sank. At a loss of which way he went, I knew I could never claim my wallet back. Bye, fried chicken, not today. I walked towards my car helplessly.
A short, skinny man was standing by my car. He seemed like homeless because he was dressed in oversized worn-out coat and his face was dirty. He was stamping his feet to keep warm. I felt sorry for him because I had nothing to help him, no money, no food.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;

66.Traveling in China
Last summer, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to Xinjiang. The moment I stepped onto the vast prairie, I was captivated by the breathtaking view of flocks of sheep and horses roaming freely against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
The trip to Xinjiang broadened my horizons. I witnessed the magnificent natural scenery and experienced the rich and diverse cultures of different ethnic groups. Traveling, to me, means stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring the unknown. It allows me to see the world from different perspectives, learn new things, and gain a deeper understanding of life. It enriches my mind and makes my life more meaningful.
67.The man noticed me and asked if this was my car. Surprised as I was, I nodded, waiting for what he was going to say. He seemed excited, directly coming closer and quickly taking out a wallet, which I knew was mine at the first glance. I couldn’t stop staring at the surprising packet. I knew I wouldn’t say goodbye to my fried chicken today. But first, I need show my sincere gratitude to the good soul, who must have stayed in the cold for long just to find the owner. I opened my wallet, pulled out two banknotes and delivered to him as my thankfulness. However, he just smiled, shaking his head.
Refusing my money, he was about to leave. Seeing him disappearing in the distance gradually, I finally made up my mind to stop him and asked him to wait a minute. I grabbed the money, rushed to the counter and ordered two fried chickens. On heading back, I slipped the package into his hand, inviting him to enjoy the food together. We exchanged our thoughts a lot as we were eating and laughing. It was on that night that I came to realize that there are always people who try to help others despite their own trouble.
