When his brothers saw him, they were surprised. They felt sorry for treating him badly. In the end, the ugly duckling forgave (原谅) them. They learned not to judge a person by appearance and lived in harmony (和谐).

Language points
die是短暂性动词,不能与表示一段时间的状语连用。如表示状态,与表示一段时间的状语连用,要用be dead。
My grandfather died in 2020. 我的祖父2020年去世了。
The plant is dead for more than ten days.
这植物已经枯萎十多天了。
与die相关的词:

dying adj. 临终的;垂死的
die of 死于…… 用于因疾病、饥饿、年老等内部因素而死亡。
die from 死于…… 用于因事故、伤害等外部因素而死亡。
语境串记:
Mark’s grandma has been dead for three days. She died of cancer and died on her 75th birthday. Her death makes Mark so sad that he always can’t help thinking of her dying words.

(1) 富有的 →反义词: poor “贫穷的”
the rich表示“富人”,其作主语时,谓语动词用复数形式。

The fisherman said, “How can you live in a small bottle ” The genie said, “ I can make myself small.” The fisherman said, “Can you show me again before I die ” The genie became small and jumped in. The fisherman closed the bottle and threw it into the sea. He was happy and escaped.

Sima Guang hit the tank
Once upon a time, there was a smart boy named Sima Guang.
One day, he and his friends played in the yard. Suddenly, a boy fell into a big tank full of water. A child shouted,“Oh dear, our friend falls into the tank!” The other children were so frightened that they didn’t know what to do. But Sima Guang was very calm. He quickly said, “Don’t worry. We have to think of a way to save him!” The other children asked, “Then what shall we do ” Sima Guang answered,“I have an idea. We can save him by breaking the tank!” He picked up a big stone and threw it at the tank. Bang! The tank broke and the water ran out. Sima Guang saved the boy’s life.
