I’m so glad that you are interested in the discussion on the topic “How can we build up our bodies ”. Here are the results of our communication.
During the discussion, several ideas were raised. Many students emphasized the importance of regular exercise. Suggestions ranged from engaging in sports activities, such as running, cycling, and swimming, to practicing yoga or tai chi for flexibility and balance. The significance of sufficient sleep and rest periods was also emphasized. Some students underlined the need for an average of 8 hours of quality sleep every night.
I believe that it is crucial to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet. Undoubtedly, consuming a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can contribute to our health.
第二节
One possible version:
Upon arriving at the school, the woman alone managed to meet the headmaster for David’s being late. The woman was guided to the headmaster’s office, and settled in a comfortable chair. She explained how David had helped her find the lost wallet and the importance of the paper in it. With a look of deep respect, the headmaster said, “I am proud of what David, you and your grandmother did. I promise to help you find the student you are looking for.” Surprisingly, with the information on the paper, they found that the student being supported was exactly David. With excitement, the woman requested to meet David again to deliver this last gift in person.
The headmaster led the woman to David’s classroom to give him the gift. The headmaster knocked at the door and went in with the woman. “Excuse me,” the headmaster began, as the students turned their curious gazes towards him. “I have someone very special with me who has a story to share with you all.” With a smile, the woman explained the whole unexpected event in detail. Turning to David, the woman said, “You are a kind boy who deserves all.” Applause for the turn of kindness broke out in the classroom.宁夏六盘山高级中学

National Parks You Should Never Miss
Since the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) started keeping records in 1904, its mountain landscapes, seaside wildernesses, and high desert acres have registered more than 16 billion visits. Some of the best-known parks experienced record crowds in 2024. The following national parks are decent travelling and visiting destinations, but they offer just a glimpse of the variety to be found in the 429 park units of the NPS.
Joshua Tree National Park
Drawn by out-sized rock formations and distinctive yucca brevifolia plants, 3,270,404 travelers entered Joshua Tree National Park in 2024. It offers hiking, rock-climbing, and star-gazing in the Sonora and Mojave deserts east of Los Angeles, California.
Grand Teton National Park
The peaks of the Teton Range, solemn and imposing, tower nearly 7,000 feet over the Wyoming valley floor, making them some of the boldest geological statements in the Rockies. Grand Teton National Park’s jewel-like lakes, blue and white glaciers, and naked granite (花岗岩) summits received 3,417,106 visitors in 2024.
Yosemite National Park
Nearly 4 million visitors came to this national geopark of granite cliffs and towering waterfalls in 2024. Most spent time in Yosemite Valley, a mile-wide, seven-mile-long canyon that was cut by a river and then widened and deepened by glacial action.
Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park—the world’s first national park—was visited by more than 4.5 million people in 2024. The vast reserve—covering 2.2 million acres in Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana—has craggy (陡峭的) peaks, explosive geysers, alpine lakes, deep forests, and a wealth of wild animals. The stars are bison, bears, sheep, moose, and wolves.

Elon Musk has been talking about turning the social media platform Twitter into X for months, while being vague about what that exactly means. Does X represent a major business experiment A totally new concept for on-line living Or is it simply one man’s addiction to the 24th letter of the alphabet
Probably it’s all of the above, according to Ashlee Vance, the author of Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future. In one of his earliest business adventures, Musk called his online bank X. com. That name was later dropped when the platform was bought by a competitor and became PayPal.
“Everyone tried to talk him out of naming the company that back then, but he really liked it and refused to give in,” said Vance.
X is already in the name of Tesla’s third electric car model, which was announced to the public in 2015. His spaceflight company is called SpaceX. In 2020, Musk even named his youngest son “X E A-12”.
But lately, naming his social media platform “X” may refer to Musk’s newest ambition, building an “everything app” like China’s popular WeChat. “He wants to create an app similar to how WeChat is used in China, where it’s part of day-to-day life. You use it to communicate, to consume news, to buy things, to pay your rent, to make appointments with your doctor and even to pay fines,” said Vance. “Following the WeChat model makes sense with what Musk wants for Twitter. The company clearly needs a new, bigger business if it’s to make the type of money that would justify his investment and satisfy his ambition.”
But social media experts are questioning about Musk’s “everything app”. “I’m not sure he has enough trust from his user base to get people to actually exchange money or attach any type of financial institution to his app,” Jennifer Grygiel, a professor at Syracuse University, told NPR. “I think this is a way to destroy it, instead of recreating it as something else.”
24. Which is closest in meaning to “vague” underlined in paragraph 1
A. Unspecific. B. Curious. C. Uninterested. D. Eager.
25. What does the X in “X E A-12” most probably stand for
A. Musk’s plan to have 26 babies. B. Musk’s blind love for the letter X.
C. Musk’s doubt about his son’s DNA. D. Musk’s ambition to create a new business.
26. What does Ashlee Vance mean in paragraph 5
A. Musk paid too much to buy Twitter.
B. WeChat is more popular than Twitter.
C. X may indicate Musk’s new business plan.
D. It is not safe to model X on China’s WeChat.
27. What is Jennifer Grygiel’s attitude to the “everything app”
A. Favorable. B. Doubtful. C. Unconcerned. D. Unclear.

Smart-glasses, a type of wearable device, have evolved significantly since the pioneering yet ill-fated Google Glass failed commercially in 2013, with early adopters being laughed at as “Glassholes” due to its strange appearance. However, newer devices like Meta’s Ray-Ban Wayfarer Smart Glasses have improved in both design and functionality. These glasses now closely resemble ordinary eyewear, making them more socially acceptable, and their second-generation technology has contributed to a significant increase in sales.
While smart-glass technology has evolved, previous research often overlooked the broader social concerns and public perceptions. Our study seeks to address these gaps by exploring how smart glasses are used in everyday contexts. We surveyed 1,037 adult Australians to gather their views on the devices, revealing a range of polarized opinions about them. The research specifically aims to understand the concerns regarding privacy, social behavior, and the potential benefits of these devices.
Our findings show a clear divide between owners and non-owners. Smart-glass owners tend to see the devices as enhancing their self-image and social status. However, they are also more likely to engage in risky behaviors, such as using the glasses while driving or filming people without their permission. In contrast, non-owners are deeply concerned about privacy problems and view the use of these glasses in public spaces as rude or inappropriate. Despite these differences, both groups agree on the potential benefits of smart glasses, such as aiding those with vision difficulties.
It is important to note that using Facebook ads to promote our survey may have introduced sample bias (偏差), as it likely attracted smart-glass enthusiasts who own the devices. This may not fully represent the views of the general public. Furthermore, the dominance of Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses could influence respondents to view the technology more favorably.
In conclusion, the study highlights the urgent need for strong regulation to address the growing concerns about privacy and social behavior. As smart glasses become more advanced, the risk of misuse, such as the installation of facial recognition software, increases. Policymakers must closely monitor smart-glass technology and establish frameworks that ensure privacy, security, and fundamental rights while promoting innovation.
28. What might contributed to the increase in sales of Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
A. Stylish function. B. Better appearance.
C. Acceptable technology. D. Improved battery.
29. What is the purpose of the study in the second paragraph
A. To explore smart glasses’ daily use. B. To investigate public privacy concerns.
C. To study social risks and public views. D. To analyze the devices’ potential benefits.
30. What words can best describe Smart-glass owners
A. Rude and inappropriate. B. Tech-minded and cautious.
C. Innovative and considerate. D. Status-driven and risk-taking.
31. What is the key to addressing privacy and social concerns
A. Enforcing powerful regulations. B. Promoting technology innovation.
C. Monitoring established frameworks. D. Limiting facial recognition software.
D
A can of soft drink and two large eggs may have a similar number of calories, but the eggs will provide us with protein, vitamins and other nutrients, and satisfy our hunger, while a fizzy drink provides little more than calories. The important concept here is nutrient density (密度), which refers to the number of nutrients we take in for each calorie consumed. No one would suggest replacing sweet drinks with eggs, but what can we do to increase nutrient density in our diet
“Have you had your five a day ” on British supermarket shelves is a reminder to customers to ensure they are eating at least five slices of fruits and vegetables per day, promoting a healthy diet. Many countries have launched similar campaigns to encourage people to eat more healthily. Fresh, natural produce is usually very dense in nutrients. Eating a wide range of fruits and vegetables is important, so some advice focuses on including different colors of food in our diets. “Eating a rainbow” could be one way to get more nutrients.
Other advice recommends that we should be more adventurous in what we eat. Cooking food that we haven’t eaten before can lead us to use ingredients that we don’t usually consume. This can give us a wider range of nutrients. It’s not just about fruit and vegetables. Even flavorings such as garlic, ginger or turmeric can have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, while also leading people to use less salt. Dairy products such as milk and cheese, are high in calcium, while in limited amounts, meat can be a good source of protein.
If you’re not feeling that adventurous, then swapping food items can be beneficial. Choosing wholegrain bread or rice instead of white bread or rice can increase fibre intake. Unsalted nuts provide more nutrients than snacks such as crisps. Possibly surprisingly, popcorn is a wholegrain snack that is high in fibre.
So, fresh fruit and vegetables, swapping the worst things, and just a little bit more adventure could be the secret to a more nutritious diet.
32.What does “Eating a rainbow” suggest
A.Focusing on low-calorie foods.
B.Avoiding white and black foods.
C.Adding variously colored foods to what we eat.
D.Including rainbow-colored snacks in our diets.
33.What can happen if we are more adventurous in our food choices
A.We reduce calories in our diets. B.We eat more fruits and vegetables.
C.We consume more unhealthy food. D.We gain access to diverse nutrients.
34.Which of the following is the healthiest swap
A.Swapping white rice for wholegrain rice.
B.Swapping two eggs for a can of soft drink.
C.Swapping popcorn for wholegrain bread.
D.Swapping unsalted nuts for white bread.
35.Which of the following serves as the best title
A.Eating a balanced diet is essential.
B.Nutrient density is key to a healthy diet.
C.Eggs are a better choice than sugary drinks.
D.Fruits and vegetables are always the best choice.

It was a Monday morning. David, whose school fees (学费) were continuously supported by an old woman anonymously (匿名地),got up late. He got dressed and rushed to the bus stop for his last school bus, his mind full of the day’s schedule. The streets were busy with people heading to work. As he was waiting for the school bus, he noticed a woman worriedly searching through her bag.
“Excuse me,” David called out, “do you need some help ” The woman looked up anxiously, “I’ve lost my wallet, and there is something important in it.”
Without a second thought, David offered to help. They retraced (折回) the woman’s steps, looking through the sidewalk carefully and asking passersby if they had seen a wallet. At this moment, David’s bus arrived. Looking at his watch, the school bus and the anxious woman, he decided to continue helping her find the wallet despite the pressure of his own schedule.
Luckily, several minutes later, they found the small wallet under a car. The woman’s face was a picture of relief (宽慰) as she carefully cleaned the dirt on it. “I can’t thank you enough,” said the woman, opening the wallet and pulling out a piece of paper. “It includes my grandmother’ s wish to find the poor student who has been supported by her. She passed away yesterday, and she wanted to send out her last gift.” Then, the woman was sorry for David’s missing the bus so she called a taxi, and said, “I’ll get you to school in no time.”
