Heidi, a poor little girl, is sent by her aunt to live in the country with her grandfather, whom she has never met. Fortunately, they accepted each other, kept each other company, and led an easy life. On the way, Heidi's aunt tricked her into working as a companion for the daughter of a rich family, where Heidi met the kind Clara and had many happy hours. But Heidi still misses her grandfather and her free life in the country, so she resolutely decides to return to him and continue to be an unconstrained "wild child".
