Born into a French aristocratic family, he became an academic and studied a broad range of topics, most notably education and history. From his work in education he came to see how organized sports helped balance body and mind to promote health. As a historian, he loved ancient Greece, and believed the ancient Olympics was a great example and high point in the history of mankind.How much do you know about Pierre de Coubertin Although some Olympic-style competitions had already been held in different countries, Pierre de Coubertin was the first to bring the idea of different countries competing together in a modern international competition. He found the IOC (International Olympic Committee) in 1894 and the first modern games were held two years later.
