本句是祈使句。祈使句是用来表示请求、命令、劝说、号召、告或叮嘱的句子。它常以动词原形开头，一般省略主语 you。有时为了表示礼貌，常在动词原形前加 please。please 也可以放在句尾，前面常用逗号与其他成分隔开。

cut up 相当于 cut... into pieces。cut up 是个“动词＋副词”型短语，代词作宾语时只能放在 cut 和 up 之间；名词作宾语时，既可放在 cut 和 up 之间，也可放在 up 的后面。

half 一般放在冠词之前。

of 后面的名词或代词若为单数意义或名词为不可数名词，则其谓语动词用单数形式；of 后面的名词或代词若为复数意义，则其谓语动词用复数形式。
