My name is Reuben Kozary,and I'm a student from Australia.I was lucky enough to
have the chance to travel to Shanghai for a one-month exchange (program at East
China Normal University(华东师大)in the summer of2o23.
We received a warm welcome on the first day,and the teachers showed us around the
beautiful campus().After the tour,we enjoyed a delicious meal on campus.
Our language classes were taught in Chinese,and our teacher didn't allow us to speak

cream for the whole class."she said with a smile.This was challenging at first,but in the
end,my listening and speaking skills improved much faster than they did when I studied in

Life outside the classroom was just as fun.The shopping center stayed open until
10 p.m.every night,and there were many restaurants,museums,and other popular places

nearby.All of these were just a 15-20 minute subway ride away.Besides traveling around
Shanghai after class,we spent our last day visiting the headquarters (of a Chinese
company(公司).
Although I've been away from Shanghai for nearly two years,this program truly
changed my life.I will continue studying Chinese so that I can use my language skills in my
