Friends can be different in many ways, but these differences can make friendship more interesting. Some scientists have studied how friends with different personalities get along.
Friends who are outgoing and friends who are quiet can learn from each other. The outgoing friend may help the quiet one become more confident in talking to others. The quiet friend may teach the outgoing one to listen more carefully. For example, Lily is outgoing and often invites her quiet friend Anna to parties. Anna, in return, helps Lily calm down when she is too excited.
Friends with different hobbies can also share new things. If one likes reading and the other likes sports, they can introduce their hobbies to each other. This way, they both get to try new activities. A reading lover may start playing tennis, and a sports fan may start reading novels.
Differences in friends' backgrounds can make them see the world in new ways. A friend from a big city may tell stories about busy streets, while a friend from a small town may share stories about nature. This helps them understand different lives.
So, it's not necessary for friends to be the same. Differences can make friendship richer.

Last week, our school did a survey among 600 students on "Should friends be similar or different ". 350 think friends should be similar, and 250 think differences are good. I think both are fine.
My friend is Lin Tao. We are both kind, but he is outgoing and I'm quiet. He likes playing basketball, while I like reading.
From him, I learned to be more active in groups. He started reading because of me. Differences make our friendship great.
