在英语中,外公和爷爷都是 grandfather(grandpa),外婆和奶奶都是 grandmother(grandma)。哥哥和弟弟都是 brother,姐姐和妹妹都是sister。
由于中西方在家庭观念方面的文化差异,西方国家不分嫁娶,只要结婚就是一家人,除了以上词汇通用以外,叔叔舅舅,阿姨姑姑,表堂等称呼全部通用。如果需要特别说明的情况,可以用 “on my mother’s side” 或者 “on my father’s side” 来区分。
Language focus
1. Hello 和 Hi 的用法:都是 “你好” 的意思,“Hi”多用于熟人间的打招呼;“Hello” 多用于初次见面打招呼。
2. How are you? 你较为熟悉且能直呼其名的人。
3. How do you do? 用于初次与同学或朋友见面的正式场合。
4. Nice to meet you. 用于第一次见面的陌生人。
