For animals, bad weather can be a big problem. Some animals like mice can go underground, but how do birds live through bad weather
A bird’s feathers(羽毛)help to keep the bird warm. But if those feathers are full of rainwater, the bird’s body temperature could fall too quickly, and it could die. Many birds can keep water away from their feathers by using something special in their tails( 尾巴). This makes them fly in the rain for short trips. Some animals may eat them if they can’t fly a long way, so most birds wait in trees or find a place to stay until the rain stops.
Some storms are more terrible. Luckily, some birds can tell when a storm is coming as they feel changes in air pressure( 压力). So some may leave earlier to stay away from the storm, while others look for places to keep safe.
Winter is also dangerous for birds because it snows a lot. Some birds get ready for winter by eating a lot of food to keep them warm while some birds fly to the south for the winter.
As you can see, birds have many ways against bad weather. Although danger is always around them, they will probably be just fine.

A bottle of water may not seem like much to you, but thousands of bottles will be of great help to people living in drought(干旱)-hit areas in China.
Since last autumn, there has been very little rain in Southwest China. Some places in Yunnan, Guangxi, Sichuan and Guizhou have experienced a serious drought. Crops died, the land cracked (裂开), and wells and rivers dried up. More than 20 million people are having difficulty in finding safe drinking water.
After learning about the drought, many people around the country helped by giving water, money and other things.
Last week, every member of the Communist Youth League(共青团)and Young Pioneers(少先队)was encouraged to give one bottle of water to the drought-hit areas. Students in primary schools and middle schools quickly joined in the activity. In Yuhua Primary School in Xi’an, 900 students bought over 1,000 bottles of water with their pocket money. They also wrote their wishes on the bottles.
The serious drought has also made students realize the importance of saving water. Students from Nanshan Middle School in Huizhou, Guangdong went on the street to tell people to take part in water-saving activities.
“I’ve heard that some children in drought-hit areas don’t have enough drinking water. They have to drink muddy (含泥的) water and I feel really sad about that,” said Su Xiaolei, a student in Hangzhou. “I decide to take a shower twice a week instead of every day to save water,” he said.
( ) 63. Why has there been a serious drought in Southwest China

C. Because there have been fewer wells and rivers.
D. Because people have cut down too many trees.

( ) 65. Which of the following may be the best title for the text

When you look at a mountain with snow on top, you may think it is so beautiful and wonderful. But is it still amazing when an avalanche(雪崩)happens
An avalanche is snow, ice and rocks moving together quickly down a mountain. Different things can cause avalanches. For example, when snowfall (降雪) is at its greatest, it happens easily. Also, about 90 percent of avalanches have to do with human activities, like mountain climbing and skiing. Besides, strong winds, earthquakes and even animal activities like running and fighting can also make them happen.
Avalanches are most common during the winter, from December to April. But they do happen all year round. Most of them are small, with only little snow. But in high mountains, such as the Alps(阿尔卑斯山) and the Himalayas(喜马拉雅山), they can be huge and dangerous. Some places in France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy see the greatest number of avalanches and deaths every year. When an avalanche happens, the fast-moving snow, ice, and rocks can sweep away everything on the way. They bury (埋) skiers and mountain climbers alive. And the snow is so heavy that people often die of being breathless (窒息的). When an avalanche stops, the snow becomes too hard to move. That can make people under it die of coldness.
But what can we do to keep ourselves safe when an avalanche happens Education and right practice on avalanches can help. Learn about the danger of avalanches before going out.

A. Where small avalanches happen.
B. How climbers die in avalanches.

D. Why avalanches happen.
( ) 69. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing this passage

B. To give ways to keep safe when meeting avalanches.
C. To introduce some facts and information about avalanches.
D. To tell us where and when avalanches happen.

I was lying under a tree and didn’t know what was happening around me. My body was hot. I had a terrible headache. A few minutes later, I was on my way to the hospital.
It was a hot summer day. I, along with hundreds of other runners, came to Beijing for a running race. Halfway through the race, I started to feel dizzy (眩晕的). I didn’t want to give up, so I decided to go on. But it was too hot, and before I could finish the race, I fell down.
Some people said I had heatstroke(中暑). Later, however, I learned I had heat exhaustion(热衰竭). What’s the difference
If we exercise too long in the heat, our bodies can lose too much water and get too hot and we will experience heat exhaustion. If so, our body temperature will increase. We will feel tired and want to drink water. Often, we have a headache. If you get heat exhaustion, find a cool place right away. Drink enough water and rest. Soon you can get better. If you don’t do these things, heat exhaustion may turn into heatstroke.
Heatstroke is very dangerous. It happens when one’s body gets too hot from being in hot weather for too long. If someone has heatstroke, his body temperature will go up to 40°C or even higher. They need to see a doctor at once. They won’t get better without treatment (治疗). People who get heatstrokewill feel dizzy, breathe fast and even die.
During the summer, please be very careful when you’re out in the sun.

①They make people feel dizzy.
②They make body temperature go up.
③People need a long time to get better from them.
④People get them from staying too long in hot weather.
A. ①②③ B. ①②④
C. ①③④ D. ②③④
( ) 72. The writer wrote the passage mainly to .
A. tell readers why he gave up the race
B. show the importance of drinking water
C. ask people to be careful in hot weather
D. advise people to stop doing exercise in summer
