"I told them, 'Of course, I'll take the bird," "said Sevcenko,who has spent her spare time helping birds in need since 2012.With help from volunteers, she estimates that Diva Crows has rescued more than 2,000 birds. In 2023, Sevcenko took in a two-foot-tall bird that had been shot with a gun. Although the bird could no longer fly and couldn't be freed to the wid after he had been cured,she found a home for him at the Cayuga Nature Center in Ithaca, N.Y.
Sevcenko and her volunteers briefly put Hope in a cage with some rescued young black crows and there weren't any issues. Then they put Hope in with an adult crow. Things did not go well.
Everyone who spends time with Hope is delighted by her personality."She loves bird baths,and when I change her cage, she'll sit on top and talk to me like she's a little person," Tijona Owens,a Dive Crows volunteer, says. "She's a very interesting bird.She loves exploring,and she'll stay on your arm. She enjoys hanging out in the center to see what's going on."

Farmers often grow so-called cover plants between main crops. They are used for purposes such as for animal feeds or remain on the field as nutrients. In this way,they supply the soil with nutrients before the next planting. However, cover plants also protect against the soil being

Actually,using plants to deal with contaminants in the soil is nothing new. For example,contaminated soil on industrial sites is already being tackled in this way. But agriculture could also benefit from this method, says Marie Muche, head of the Plant Biogeochemistry working group at the UFZ and senior author of the publication.
Then which plants are suitable for phytoremediation（植物修复）in agriculture？ And which pollutants could be managed with which plants The UFZ team investigated these questions and analysed the current research. Based on the results of the former studies, the research team developed concepts for phytoremediation for the respective pollutant categories. For example,sunflowers could be used as a cover plant to prevent nitrate（硝酸盐）in the soil from being washed out and polluting the groundwater. The plants absorb the nitrate from the soil to grow.However, it was difficult to identify cover plants that are particularly suitable for phytoremediation targeting the contaminant categories of plastic."A lot of research still needs to be done here-working together with farmers. Other than that, there is no other approach to effective and practicable strategies for phytoremediation, tailored to different locations, soils and pollutant problems," says Marie Muche. "From our perspective, using cover plants to manage soil pollutants could be an efficient future concept for healthier soils and more sustainable agriculture." A UFZ research team will be launching a field study together with farmers as part of the SmartManure project in the summer of 2025. Their aim is to more closely investigate different cover plants and their remediation performance and to test the practicability of phytoremediation in agricultural practice.

W: Yes. In fact, she now owns two. The original one is in the west end, and she now has a second one in the south side. Why do you ask
M: My brother, Dylan, has recently graduated from art school. He was top of his class, and he spent all summer creating new works of art. Also, he won many prizes in all kinds of art competitions.
W: So he is looking to show them
M: Yes. What does she usually show
W: Janet mostly focuses on oil paintings. She hardly takes pencil paintings and watercolor paintings.
M: She’ll probably like my brother’s work then.
W: Cool, then he can send Janet some photos of his paintings, and see if Janet can arrange a show of them in her museums.
M: Sure. He has about 20 pieces in total.
W: Here’s her email address. Ask him to send five of his most satisfied works.
M: Great. I’ll get Dylan to send them today.
W: Excellent. I need to run. I have a meeting in 15 minutes.

M: Hello, everyone. I am your new manager. I am happy to join this company and to meet all of you. I want to give a short speech to introduce myself to you. I hope to know each one of you very well. I am from Washington D.C., and I have worked at technology companies for my whole career. I love working with computers, and I am good at it. I believe that I can help you a lot. But I know you will teach me things, too! I want us to have regular meetings every month where we can talk about our ideas for the company and for our customers. But still, it’s up to you guys. My goal is to make our company a place where we can discuss everything about our work. In the following week, please feel free to come to me and talk about your new ideas or any change you want us to make.
