When I was a kid, my mom would let me help her make popcorn on cold winter nights. We would get out a pan, some oil and butter, and wait for the first popcorn to jump with an exciting sound. Then, we would shake the pan over the stove to prevent(防止) the popcorn from burning - shake, shake, shake, and pop, pop, pop - until the pan was filled with delicious popcorn! Mom would pour it all into a big bowl and add some sugar on top.
Later, we would all come to the living room. Dad would sit in his chair, while my mom, brothers, and I would relax on the sofa. Although there was always a lot of popcorn, we could eat it up quickly. And mom even let me eat the half-popped kernels(玉米粒).
The funny thing is that I have already forgotten the shows we watched, but I still remember the smell of the popcorn and the warmth of the bowl. The joy of being with my family made me feel so loved, safe and happy. We didn’t have a big house, expensive snacks or much money, but our love for each other was everything.
It’s the little moments like these that matter most. They’re magical everyday gifts and memories that last forever. So, remember to enjoy these moments and the love that comes with them. They are what truly make life beautiful.

The Taklamakan Desert, known as the “Sea of Death”, is the biggest desert in China and the second-largest moving desert in the world. It covers 337,600 square kilometers and now has a 3,046-kilometer-long green belt around it.
Building the green belt faced many problems. As we all know, the desert is very large with sand dunes(沙丘) as high as 300 meters. So more time, money, and effort are needed. The dry climate added more challenges. The desert has little rain (50mm) but loses much more water (2,500mm) to evaporation (蒸发). Due to the shortage of water, plants are hard to grow. The frequent sandstorms are another problem. The Taklamakan Desert is one of the most active areas for sandstorms in China, creating further difficulties.
Even with these problems, finishing the green belt is a huge success. Experts say it’s amazing, and the hard work paid off. The green belt protects oases (areas with water and plants) from sandstorms, improves the local environment, and supports farming. It also shows China’s strong skills in managing large environmental projects.
A local farmer said he was happy about the project and hoped it would help his family in the future. In the coming years, Xinjiang will keep growing the green belt to stop deserts and bring more desert land back to life. People living near the desert are looking forward to better living conditions.
27. How long is the green belt around the Taklamakan Desert
A. 2,500 kilometers
B. 3,046 kilometers
C. 337,600 kilometers
28. Which problem about building the green belt is NOT mentioned
A. The high sand dunes.
B. The shortage of water.
C. Too many wild animals.
29. What does the underlined phrase “paid off” mean in paragraph 3
A. 取得回报 B. 全部付清 C. 注意到
30. What’s the passage mainly about
A. The dangers of desert sandstorms.
B. The success of a desert project.
C. The life of farmers in deserts.

第一节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面的语篇,根据语篇内容回答问题。
Changsha middle schools started the “15-Minute Break” policy in February 2025. Students now have longer breaks between classes than before. The goal is to help them relax, stay healthy, and prepare better for lessons.
To make breaks fun, schools paint colorful games on playgrounds like number grids(数字跳格). Teachers lend sports equipment such as jump ropes and balls to students. Many schools also organize clubs so that students can talk about hobbies or practice simple English dialogues.
Most students enjoy the breaks. Now they feel happier and less stressed, with fewer reports of headaches or tired eyes. Teachers notice that students concentrate better in class after these activities.
However, there are some small problems. Noisy games sometimes disturb nearby classrooms. A few students forget to prepare for the next class because they are too excited. Also, the short breaks feel too quick for games that need more time.
Teachers give suggestions. “Breaks help students work together and stay active,” says Mr. Li from Sunshine School. “But we need quiet activities near classrooms. Students should also remember to check their books before class.”
56.When did the “15-minute break” policy start in Changsha
57.Can students practice simple English dialogues in clubs
58.How do most students feel now
59.Why do students forget to prepare for the next class
