一、表委婉请求
用法:用于疑问句,向他人客气地提出请求、征求许可,比 “can” 语气更委婉,无时间上 “过去” 含义,回答常用 “can” 回应。
e.g. Could you pass me the book 你能把书递给我吗?
e.g. Could I use your umbrella 我能用下你的雨伞不?
二、表推测(多用于否定句、疑问句 )
用法:对现在、过去情况进行不确定推测,疑问句式里体现 “会不会、可能吗” 的怀疑、探究语气。
e.g. Could it be true that he won the lottery 他中彩票这事儿能是真的吗?
e.g. Could she have forgotten our appointment 她会不会忘了咱们的约会呀?
