How to form comparative and superlative adjectives
当我们将两个对象进行比较时，我们要用形容词的比较级，表示“较……”“更……一些”“比……更……”。
当被比较的对象是三个或三个以上时，我们会用形容词的最高级，表示“最……”，最高级前通常要加定冠词 the。
1. 大多数词后加er或est
2. 以字母e结尾的词后加r或st
3. 以一个辅音字母结尾的重读闭音节词 ，双写最后一个辅音字母，再加er或est
形容词比较级和最高级的构成方法
e.g. small—smaller—smallest
near—nearer—nearest
e.g. large—larger—largest
fine—finer—finest
e.g. hot—hotter—hottest
slim—slimmer—slimmest
4. 以辅音字母+y结尾的词，去掉y，再加ier或iest
5. 部分双音节词和多音节词在前面加more或most
e.g. busy—busier—busiest
tidy—tidier—tidiest
e.g. beautiful—more beautiful—most beautiful
wonderful—more wonderful—most wonderful
口诀
比较级要变化，一般词尾加-er。
词尾若有哑音e，直接加r就可以。
重读闭音节，单个辅音字母要双写。
辅音字母加y，要把y改i。
最高级加-est，前面加the莫忘记。
形容词若是多音节，只把more，most前面写
注意：
构成形容词比较级和最高级的er和est，自成一个音节，读作/ (r)/ 和/ st/。如果原级词末为不发音的字母 r，加er和est 时，r 要发/r/ 音，如clear /kl (r)/、clearer / kl r (r)/、clearest / kl r st/。如果原级词末的发音为/ /，加er 和est 时，/ /音后得加上/ɡ/音，如 long /l /、longer / l ɡ (r)/、longest / l ɡ st/。

注意：
有些形容词有两种比较级和最高级的变化方式。如：
clever—cleverer/more clever—cleverest/most clever
far—farther/further—farthest/furthest
形容词比较级常见用法
1. A + be + 比较级 + than + B.
e.g. This picture is more beautiful than that one.
这幅画比那幅画更漂亮。
2. Which/Who ... + 比较级 , ... or ...
e.g. Which picture is more beautiful, this one or that one
这幅画和那幅画，哪个更漂亮
3. 比较级前用a little、much、even 等词来修饰
e.g. China is much larger than Japan.
中国比日本大得多。
4. “比较级 + and + 比较级” 越来越……
e.g. China is becoming stronger and stronger.
中国正变得越来越强大。
1. the + 最高级 + of/in+表示范围的词语
e.g. I am the tallest of/among the three.
我是三个人中最高的。
Russia is the largest country in the world by area.
俄罗斯是世界上面积最大的国家。
2. one of 后面的形容词常用最高级
e.g. It's a present for one of my children.
这是送给我的一个孩子的礼物。
形容词最高级常见用法
4. 用序数词修饰形容词的最高级。
3. 形容词性物主代词 + 最高级
注意：此时形容词的最高级前不需要加定冠词the。
e.g. Peter is his oldest son. 彼得是他的长子。
e.g. In the USA, the second largest city is Los Angeles.
美国的第二大城市是洛杉矶。
