How Long to Spend at the Met
The museum is massive. It also has a dense collection of paintings and sculptures. You could easily spend the entire day or more inside, but that will really depend on why you’re headed to NYC．
I can tell you from experience that 3 hours tends to be the limit for most people. After that, you may get a bit tired — unless you have a deep passion for art. Personally, I stick by that same rule. Your mind can only absorb so much beauty at one time!
If you’re an avid (狂热的) museum-goer and really want to spend longer than that, then I highly recommend taking a break in a café or sitting in a nice spot every 75 minutes or so. If you go in the afternoon, then a break means a cocktail (鸡尾酒)!

Kids seeking hands-on fun can get on Peggy, an ancient steam engine that was originally built in 1909 and is now permanently parked outside the museum.

Ellen Swallow Richards (1842-1911)

Jagadish Chandra Bose (1858-1937)
Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose is known for his contributions to the fields of physics, botany and biology. He invented an instrument called the crescograph, which can detect minute changes in plant tissues in response to changes in light, temperature and other factors. His experiments in this field challenged the common view of plants as passive things and showed they were sensitive to their environments.

It’s looking for high-quality, meaningful photographs that illustrate the power of nature and the urgent need to protect our beautiful planet. The winning photographs will be featured in the printed WMO 2026 Calendar.
Judging Criteria
·Illustration of the impact — both positive and negative — of weather, climate, and water on people all over the world
·Technical quality, clarity, and composition
·Visual impact
WMO will make an initial selection of about 75 photographs, based on technical and artistic excellence. The shortlisted photos will be published on Facebook, Instagram and Flickr, making it convenient for our followers to vote for their favorites. The WMO council will have the final say on the photos for inclusion in the calendar based on the social media votes and the geographical balance.
How to enter
Take a striking photo that meets our submission guidelines. Enter your photograph into the competition by using our dedicated Entry Form. Photographers may submit multiple entries, but only one photo can be included in the final calendar. There will be 13 photos included in the calendar.
