Step 1 Leading in
1.Greet the class.
2.Show some pictures or videos of bamboo,allowing students to observe its appearance and arouse their interest.
Step 2 Work on 2a-2c
1.Play the recording of the conversation.Ask students to listen and fill in the blanks.
2.Ask students to read the conversation again and answer the questions in 2b.Let them discuss in pairs and then complete the mind map in 2c with the information from 2a.
3.Check the answers.Ask students to read the conversation aloud to better understand the content.
Step 3 Work on Pronunciation 2
1.Ask students to listen to the recording of Pronunciation 2 and notice difference in stress and meaning of the same sentences.
2.Play the recording again for students to check and practise reading aloud.
Step 4 Work on 2d
1.Listen to the conversation in 2a again and select key sentences from the conversation.Let students imitate and read them to experience the differences in meaning expressed by different stresses.
2.Divide students into pairs and ask them to role play the conversation,focusing on the correct use of expressions and intonation.
Step 5 Work on 2e
1.Set a scenario for students.For example,there are foreign exchange students in the school and students as tour guides need to introduce bamboo and its importance to them.
2.Divide students into pairs.Ask them to make up a conversation.Walk around to listen to their conversations and offer guidance.
3.Invite some pairs to share their conversations with the class and give comments and suggestions for improvement.

　　本课时通过多样化的活动,学生对最高级的运用有了进一步提升,在从不同方面描述竹子时也有了更深入的思考。然而,在发音教学部分,部分学生对句子中区分性重音理解仍存在困难,需要在后续教学中增加更多针对性练习,如句子重音对比练习、情景对话练习等。

一、单元内容分析
本单元属于 “人与自然” 范畴,涉及“自然生态”主题群。通过本单元学习,学生能学会用英语描述动植物特点、运用最高级比较、研究其与人类生活的联系及重要性,增强对动植物的认知和保护意识。
Section A引导学生谈论神奇的动植物,学会用最高级比较,描述其特征,并掌握字母a、i、y和字母组合ai、ay、igh、oy、oi、bl、cl、gl、br、cr、gr在单词中的发音规则及句子中区分性重音。
Section B通过阅读文章,引导学生深入探讨动植物与人类的联系,了解其在生态系统中的作用,培养生态平衡意识,巩固拓展词汇运用和写作能力。

1.Greet the class.Show some pictures or short videos about bees or other insects to lead in the topic.
2.Ask students what they know about bees and encourage them to share their ideas.
Step 2 Work on 1a-1c
1.Ask students to look at the title and pictures in 1b and guess what the text is about.
2.Let students read the text in 1b and underline the adjectives used to describe bees.
3.Check the answers and ask students to summarize the characteristics of bees described in the text.
4.Ask students to read the text again and complete the mind map in 1c.
5.Check the answers and explain some important language points.
Step 3 Work on 1d-1f
1.Organize a class discussion.Ask students to discuss the questions in 1d,such as giving another title for the text and sharing other interesting facts about bees.
2.Ask students to imagine they are the writer and write one more paragraph about bees.Walk around to monitor students’ progress and offer help if necessary.
3.Let students work in pairs to discuss the connection between people,plants and animals in 1f.Then invite some pairs to share their ideas in class.
4.Select a few students to share their paragraphs with the class.After each sharing,encourage the rest of the class to give positive feedback and suggestions.
Step 4 Work on 2a-2d
1.In 2a,ask students to circle the odd ones and give their reasons.Check the answers and explain the differences between the words.
2.Ask students to add the endings to form nouns in 2b.Let them use their dictionaries if needed.
3.In 2c and 2d,ask students to complete the sentences and the passage with the correct forms of the words in the boxes.Check the answers and explain some useful language points.
Step 5 Work on 3a-3c
1.Let students read the text about the blue whale in 3a and complete the table.
2.Check the answers together and explain some important language points.
Step 6 Work on 3b-3c
1.Ask students to imagine they are blue whales and rewrite the first paragraph in the first person.
2.Based on the text in 3a,ask students to complete their own passage about the blue whale in 3c.Walk around to monitor students’ writing and offer help.
3.Select a few students to share their passages with the class.Encourage students to learn from each other.

　　本课时为阅读和写作课。学生在阅读和讨论与动植物相关的内容时表现出较高的积极性,但在表达自己对动植物与人类联系的理解和感受时,部分学生存在表达不清晰、不深入的问题。后续应加强阅读技巧的指导,提供更多相关的词汇和表达方式,帮助学生提升语言表达能力。在写作方面,部分学生文章内容不够丰富,逻辑不够清晰。后续教学应注重引导学生丰富写作内容,合理组织文章结构,使文章更加有条理。

2.Introduce the project task of making a poster about a plant or an animal and the goals students can achieve through it.
Step 2 Work on 4a-4c
1.Divide students into groups.Let each group choose or create the title of their posters.
2.Ask students to collect pictures and find out information about the plant or animal they chose.
3.Ask students to make their posters.Walk around to monitor students’ progress and offer help if necessary.
Step 3 Work on 4d
1.Each group presents their poster in class.
2.After each presentation,the other students can ask questions or give comments and suggestions.Then vote for the best one.
Step 4 Work on Reflecting
1.Let students answer the questions in Reflecting,such as what amazing plants and animals they learnt about,when to use superlatives,etc.
2.Ask students to share their answers with the class.Give some suggestions and exercises for improvement according to the students’ answers.

2.Have a class discussion.Ask students to explain the formation and usage of each superlative in the sentences.Encourage them to share their understandings.

1.Ask students to complete the sentences with the superlative forms of the words in brackets.Let them work individually and then check their answers with a partner.
