一、单元内容分析
本单元的话题是“人际交往”,属于“人与社会”主题范畴,涉及“社会服务与人际沟通”主题群。本单元主要由Starting out、Understanding ideas、Developing ideas、Presenting ideas和Reflection几个板块构成。
Starting out通过阅读名言和观看图片,引导学生思考人际交往的原则和应对冲突的方法。Understanding ideas借助《自私的巨人》这一故事,让学生体会分享与接纳对人际关系的影响,并区分现在完成时中“for”和“since”的用法。Developing ideas的第一部分主要是听说的内容,第二部分为读写的内容,通过介绍六尺巷的故事,引导学生懂得理解和宽容在人际交往的重要性,并让学生写一篇关于与人相处的故事。Presenting ideas要求学生分组合作创建人际交往指南,培养学生解决问题和团队协作的能力。Reflection部分则帮助学生总结单元知识,阐述自己在人际交往方面的理解并反思自己的不足之处。
二、单元教学目标
1.学生能够熟练运用本单元的词汇和表达,准确谈论人际关系相关话题。
2.学生能够正确使用现在完成时,生动讲述分享的故事。

三、单元重难点
1.重点:
(1)学生熟练掌握本单元的词汇、句型和现在完成时的用法。
(2)学生深入理解文章和故事所传达的人际交往道理,并能结合自身经历进行思考和分享。
(3)学生能够运用所学知识,完成写作任务和制作人际交往指南。
2.难点:
(1)学生准确区分现在完成时与一般过去时的用法,在实际情境中正确运用现在完成时。
(2)学生在表达自己对人际交往的看法时,做到逻辑清晰、内容丰富、语言准确。
(3)学生在团队合作中,有效交流、共同解决问题,完成高质量的人际交往指南。

Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class and start a simple conversation,such as asking students about their best friends.
Step 2 Work on Activity 1
1.Show the quotes by Confucius,Arthur Forman,and Earl Nightingale on the screen.
2.Have students read the quotes carefully and think about the questions:“What are the quotes about ” and “Which quote do you agree with most Why ”
3.Divide students into groups of 4 to discuss their answers.Walk around the classroom to listen to their discussions and offer help if needed.
4.Invite some students to share their group’s ideas with the class.Encourage other students to ask questions or express different opinions.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2
1.Let students look at the picture carefully.
2.Ask students to think about the questions in Activity 2.
3.Let students share their answers in pairs first,and then invite some pairs to share with the whole class.
4.Lead a class discussion on the best ways to handle the problems in the picture,and write down some useful suggestions on the blackboard.
Step 4 Summary
  Summarise the main points of the class,emphasising the importance of thinking about how to get along with others.

Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class and briefly review the key points of this unit,such as the importance of sharing,understanding and expressing thoughts in relationships.
Step 2 Group work
1.Have students work in groups of 4.First,they list common problems in getting along with others.Think about possible solutions,and then take a group vote to decide on one problem to focus on.
2.Provide an outline for the guide.Also offer some language tips.
3.Let students create their guides.Walk around to offer help if students have difficulties in writing,organising ideas or using language.
Step 3 Presentation and voting
1.Have each group practise presenting their guide within the group.
2.Invite groups to present their guides to the class one by one.Encourage the audience to listen carefully and take notes.
3.After all the presentations,vote on the best three guides and the best three presentations.Explain the voting criteria,such as content,practicality,language use,and teamwork.
Step 4 Reflection
1.Have students think about what they have learnt in this unit.Guide them to answer questions:“After completing this unit,what have you learnt about getting along with others ” and “What skills have you improved in terms of communication and cooperation ”
2.Ask some students to share their ideas about the unit learning.
3.Distribute a self evaluation form for students to evaluate their learning in this unit.The form can include items like the use of words and expressions,the mastery of grammar,the ability to share thoughts,and the performance in group work.
4.Ask students to share their problems during the learning process and invite other students to give advice.

Step 1 Leading in
Greet the class and show a picture of a beautiful garden.Ask students:“If this is your garden,would you share it with others Why or why not ”
Step 2 Work on Activity 1
1.Show the title “The Selfish Giant” and the picture related to the story.Ask students to predict what the passage is about,using the given words like “garden”,“selfish”,“play”,“children”,“angry”,“spring”.
2.Divide students into groups.Let each group discuss what they think might happen in the story based on the title and the given words.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2 and 3
1.Have students read the passage quickly to find out what the Giant does to his garden.
2.After reading,ask students to share their answers and then read the passage again carefully.This time,ask them to underline the sentences that show the changes in the garden and the Giant’s feelings.
3.Organise students to discuss in groups:“Why doesn’t spring come to the Giant’s garden ” and “Why do you think the Giant changes his mind ”
4.Ask students to read the passage again and choose the message of the passage.
Step 4 Work on Activity 4
1.Ask students to complete the reading chart with the words and expressions from the passage.
2.Check the answers together.
Step 5 Think and discuss
1.Ask students to think and share:“Do you know a story with a similar message,either from a book or from your own life ” Invite some students to share their stories with the class.
2.Have a class discussion on how to be a sharing person in daily life,and write down students’ ideas on the blackboard.

1.Show a picture related to the Six chi Lane.Ask students:“What can you see in the picture What do you think the story is about ”
2.Let students discuss the meanings of the words in Activity 1 and how they might be related to the story.
3.Ask students to predict the story based on the words and the picture.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2 and 3
1.Have students read the story quickly to check their predictions and answer the questions:“Where is Liuchixiang in the story ” and “What’s special about it ”
2.After reading,ask students to read the story again carefully.This time,they need to find out the answers to the questions about the problem,the solution and the influence.
3.Check the answers.
Step 4 Think and share
1.Organise students to discuss the questions in groups.
2.Ask some students to share their answers.
3.Guide students to analyse the poem in the story.
4.Discuss the meanings of “as a gift” and “as time continues to drift”,find the rhymes in the poem and talk about the effect of these rhymes.
Step 5 Work on Activity 5
1.Have students work in pairs to share their thoughts about the importance of understanding between people in daily life.
2.Guide students to organise their ideas for writing a short story about understanding between people.
3.Have students write their stories with the help of the chart.Walk around the classroom to offer writing guidance,such as grammar,vocabulary,and logical structure.
4.After students finish writing,ask them to check their stories.Remind them to include characters,a setting and events,use the words and expressions from the reading passage and give their opinion about the importance of understanding others.
5.Invite some students to share their stories with the class.Encourage other students to listen carefully and give feedback.

1.Play the conversation for the first time.Ask students to listen carefully and choose the main idea of the conversation.
2.Check the answer and play the conversation again.This time,ask students to complete the students’ thoughts about the roller coaster and choose the correct feelings.
Step 4 Work on Activity 3
1.Ask students to listen and complete the notes about Paul’s worries and Ms Thomson’s suggestions.
2.Check the answers and listen again and talk about how the teacher offers comfort.

2.Show more sentences from the reading passage with the present perfect tense.
3.Guide students to summarise the grammar rules of the present perfect tense when used to express an action or state that started in the past and continues to the present.Explain the usage of for and since,and give some examples.
