一、单元内容分析
本单元的话题是“探索数字生活”,属于“人与社会”主题范畴,涉及“科学与技术”主题群。本单元主要由Starting out、Understanding ideas、Developing ideas、Presenting ideas和Reflection几个板块构成。
Starting out通过图片引导学生观察并思考数字生活的现状。Understanding ideas以作者在英国的经历为线索,展现数字技术在不同场景下的应用及问题,并学习动词不定式作宾语补足语的用法。Developing ideas的第一部分主要是听说的内容,第二部分为读写的内容,通过对比未来学校和现实学校,启发学生想象未来数字生活并创作出50年后人们的数字生活的文章。Presenting ideas组织学生开展关于数字生活利弊的辩论,培养学生的批判性思维和语言表达能力。Reflection帮助学生总结单元知识,反思自己对数字生活的理解。

Greet the class and start a short conversation,such as asking students what digital devices they used in their daily lives.
Step 2 Work on Activity 1
1.Show students some pictures about the digital life and ask questions:“What facts do you know about the digital world ”“Which fact interests you most ”Give them three minutes to discuss.
2.Walk around the classroom to listen to their discussions and offer help if needed.Then,invite some students to share their answers with the class.Encourage other students to ask questions or add their own ideas.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2
1.Show the picture related to digital life on the screen.
2.Have students work individually to answer the questions:“What digital technologies have you used ”“How digital is your life ”.
3.Ask them to share their answers in groups of 4.Each group selects a representative to report their group’s ideas to the class.

Greet the class and briefly review the key points of this unit,such as the advantages and disadvantages of digital life,and the grammar of the infinitive as an object complement.
Step 2 Preparing for the debate
1.Have students work in groups and choose their side (for or against digital life).
2.Each group searches for more ideas about digital life.They should think of advantages and disadvantages and prepare examples or personal experiences to support their arguments.
3.Provide an outline for the debate and offer some language tips.
4.Let students organise their ideas and practise their speeches within the group.Walk around to offer help if students have difficulties in finding information,organising ideas or using language.
Step 3 Debate and voting
1.Have the groups hold the debate in class.One group from each side presents their arguments in turn.Encourage the audience to listen carefully and take notes.
2.After all the presentations,have a question and answer session where students can ask questions or challenge the opposing side’s views.
3.Vote in class on the best team.
Step 4 Reflection
1.Have students think about what they have learnt in this unit.
2.Ask some students to share their ideas about the unit learning.
3.Distribute a self evaluation form for students to evaluate their learning in this unit.The form can include items like the use of words and expressions,the mastery of grammar,the ability to describe digital life,and the performance in the debate.

2.Share a short anecdote about a person having trouble with digital technology in a foreign country to introduce the reading passage.
Step 3 Work on Activity 2 to 4
1.Have students read the passage quickly to check their predictions and answer the question:“What problems did the writer come across ”
2.Ask students to read the passage again carefully.This time,they need to choose another suitable title for the passage in Activity 3 and complete the diagram about the writer’s digital shock in the UK in Activity 4.
3.Check the answers.
