重读与弱读是两种不同的发音方式。为了使短语有节奏,常常会把句子中的一些虚词或者非重点词弱读。

Strong and weak form
Some words (e.g. do, the, of, and, can, for, to) have both a strong form and a weak form. Listen and read after it.
In most sentences, we use the weak forms of these words.
S1: You can’t dance.

Sometimes we use the strong forms for emphasis.
He went to the hospital and visited a friend.

在连贯语句中(不是读单个词时),弱读是比重读更常见的现象。
在英语中大约有50个最常用的单音节词,如a, of, from, as, and等。每个词都有两种形式的读音,一种叫重读,另一种叫弱读。当读单词时,或者在连贯语句重读时用重读形式。弱读形式用于非重读的情况。
※关于弱读,首先应了解以下几点:
在连贯语句中(不是读单个词时),弱读是比重读更常见的现象。
把弱读形式读成重读形式会影响说话的流利程度,会使说话听起来没有节奏,像是读单词;也会使应该重读的词不能突出,造成交际时对方的误解。
1) 弱读形式的元音和重读形式不同。
大多数有弱读形式的单词中元音变成/ /。如: an / n/, can /k n/, of / v/, for /f / 等。
少数单词的弱读形式中,元音变成了/i/。如: he /hi/, me /mi/, the / i/(在元音前,如: the answer / i 'ɑ:ns (r)/)等。
连贯句中单词的弱读形式主要有以下几种情况:
2) 弱读形式中省略了某一个音。
省略一个元音。如: am /m/, is /z, s/等。
省略一个辅音。如: and / n/, have / v/等。
