if 在此作连词,意为“如果”,引导条件状语从句,从句可以放在主句前,也可以放在主句后。
在含有if引导的条件状语从句的复合句中,如果主句用一般将来时,从句要用一般现在时表示将来,即遵循“主将从现”的原则。

Keeping the rules 在本句中作主语。单个动词-ing(短语)作主语时,谓语动词通常用单数形式。

lend 意为“借给,借出”, 指主语把自己的东西借出去给别人使用。
短语:lend sb. sth. = lend sth. to sb. 把某物借给某人
borrow 意为“借,借用”,指主语从别人处借入东西自己使用。
短语:borrow sth. from sb. 向某人借某物
lend与borrow是短暂性动词,不能与表示一段时间的状语连用。表示“借用某物一段时间”时,要用keep sth. for + 时间段。

写作维度分析
本单元的主题是“规章制度”,我们常接触到的有家规(family rules)、校规(school rules)、班规(class rules) 和交通规则(traffic rules)。与此相关的写作通常有:①写有关规章制度的求助信;②介绍家规/校规/班规等;③对别人提出的有关规章制度的问题给出建议。
