(2025·浙江省金华市高一阶段性考试)
For people suffering from depression (抑郁),there’s an all-natural treatment they should use—getting more exercise. It could help fight depression, even if people have a genetic risk, new research shows.
For the study, researchers collected information from nearly 8,000 people and found those with related genes (基因) were more likely to have depression over the next two years after examining them. But that was less likely for people who were more active at the study’s start, even if they had a family history of depression.Higher levels of physical activity helped protect even those with the highest genetic risk of depression.
Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities were associated with a reduced risk of depression.Adding four hours of exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段经历) of depression by 17%,according to the study.“Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi.“On average, about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”
Depression is a common mental illness globally, with more than 264 million people affected.“Depression is so ubiquitous, and that underlines the need for effective approaches that can impact as many people as possible,” Choi said. And mental health and primary care providers can use the findings to advise patients that there’s something meaningful they can do to lower their risk of depression.

(2025·吉林市高一期中检测)
Over the past few decades, children have been taking part less in free play and more in organized sports. While doing organized sports has both social and physical benefits for young children, worries about safety and benefits increase.
Though most children are naturally likely to be physically active, not all kids are willing to get up and move.Soccer coach Joseph Luxbacher says,“Every kid has the possibility of being a good sportsman in different kinds of sports.Participating (参加) in organized sports such as the school soccer team introduces direction to children’s physical activities.Following a team schedule gives kids a set time and place to exercise. As a result, kids can be safe from accidents and be protected against physical harm.”
What’s more, participating in organized sports gives children time to communicate with others and shows good sportsmanship. For young children who may still be very self-centered,participating in team sports teaches them to think about the group and encourages them to be glad about the success of their teammates.Kids can also benefit from spending time with their coach and having a chance to develop a positive (良好的) relationship with an adult other than their parents, especially if the coach is both skilled and devoted (全心全意的) to being a positive instructor.
Playing organized sports requires a lot of time for practice and games,so it would seem that this could influence students’ study.Actually it can ameliorate students’ test performance. That’s because to play organized sports well, players have to memorize information,do repetitive actions, and learn from teammates. All these types of learning skills can make students score higher.
Since stress can come from many different sources—parents, coaches, teammates or themselves—many children who participate in organized sports feel pressured to succeed. While a little stress can be helpful in leading children to perform with increased focus and strength, too much stress will leave young kids feeling very tired.Organized sports are more likely to put the right amount of pressure on them.

Ever wondered how many steps you should really be aiming for each day to stay healthy A study, led by the University of Granada (UGR) and published in one of the world’s leading journals, identifies for the first time the number of steps at which most people obtain the greatest benefits.
The study has provided the first scientific proof for daily step count to significantly reduce the risk of premature (过早的) death:8,000.It contradicts the popular belief that one should aim for 10,000 steps a day—an idea that came out of Japan in the 1960s but had no basis in science.“We have shown that the more steps you take, the better, and that there is no extra number of steps that has been proven to be harmful to health,” explains Francisco B.Ortega, the lead author of the study.
The findings are based on a comprehensive analysis of data from twelve international studies involving over 110,000 participants. The study reveals that even small increases in the daily step count can lead to measurable health benefits. For those who lead a less active lifestyle,an additional 500 steps can already result in health improvements.“This is good news because not everyone can walk almost 9,000 steps a day,at least not at first,so you can set small, reachable goals and gradually make progress and increase the number of steps per day,” the researchers suggest.
So,should we stop walking when we reach 9,000 steps “Absolutely not,” insists Ortega.“More steps are never bad.Our study showed that even as many as 16,000 steps a day does not pose a risk.” However, they also note that the daily step target should be age-appropriate.
“Our study gives people clear and easily measurable goals,” Ortega concludes.“Counting steps is much simpler, especially since most people have a smartphone or smartwatch these days. The significance of our study lies in providing concrete and measurable targets for the number of daily steps and thereby contributing to people’s health.”

Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities were associated with a reduced risk of depression.Adding four hours of exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段经历) of depression by 17%,according to the study.“Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi. “On average, about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”

Playing organized sports requires a lot of time for practice and games,so it would seem that this could influence students’ study. Actually it can ameliorate students’ test performance. That’s because to play organized sports well, players have to memorize information, do repetitive actions, and learn from teammates. All these types of learning skills can make students score higher.
Since stress can come from many different sources—parents, coaches, teammates or themselves—many children who participate in organized sports feel pressured to succeed. While a little stress can be helpful in leading children to perform with increased focus and strength, too much stress will leave young kids feeling very tired. Organized sports are more likely to put the right amount of pressure on them.

Ever wondered how many steps you should really be aiming for each day to stay healthy A study, led by the University of Granada (UGR) and published in one of the world’s leading journals, identifies for the first time the number of steps at which most people obtain the greatest benefits.
The study has provided the first scientific proof for daily step count to significantly reduce the risk of premature (过早的) death: 8,000.It contradicts the popular belief that one should aim for 10,000 steps a day—an idea that came out of Japan in the 1960s but had no basis in science.“We have shown that the more steps you take, the better, and that there is no extra number of steps that has been proven to be harmful to health,” explains Francisco B.Ortega, the lead author of the study.
