Robots have come a long way. Let's meet some famous robots from history!
Robotic Knight Italian artist and engineer, Leonardo da Vinci came up with the idea after studying the human body. The robot could stand, sit and move its arms. However, da Vinci only drew the plans. The robot was built for the first time in the 1990s.

Once upon a time there was a farmer who lost his watch in his barn (谷仓) . The farmer was worried because the watch was important to him. After searching for a long time, he gave up looking for the watch by himself and asked a group of children to help him look for it.
He promised them that whoever found the watch would get a great lunch for free. Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn and searched in the hay (干草) . But none of them could find the watch. Just when the farmer thought he would never get his watch back, a little boy went up to him and asked if he could give it another go.

On April 3, 2005, Chinese snooker (斯诺克) player Ding Junhui won the champion (冠军) . Eight-year-old Zhao Xintong, who looked up to Ding as his hero, watched this exciting win.
Twenty years later, on May 6, in Bejing, 28-year-old Zhao made history. After beating three-time world champion Mark Williams, Zhao became the first Asian player to win the World Snooker Championship (锦标赛) . “I've got nothing but admiration (钦佩) for what he's done. He is a new superstar of the game,” Williams told China Daily after the final match.
Born in Xi'an, Shanxi Province, Zhao's talent for snooker showed from age 6 when he first played snooker. In 2016, he started his professional snooker career (生涯) and did well in many competitions. In 2021, he became the second Chinese player to win the UK Championship.
Snooker is a sport played with 22 balls. Players hit the cue ball (母球) to pot (击落) other balls in the right order. They must control the cue ball's speed and direction (速度和方向) carefully. By changing how and where they hit the ball, they can, control the game. Zhao is great at this and can even control the friction (摩擦) between the cue ball and the table, which makes him a strong player.
From a young fan of Ding Junhui to a world champion, Zhao Xintong has made snooker history. He shows that dreams can come true with love and hard work.

①A new report from the United Nations said that glaciers (冰川) are melting (融化) faster than ever before. This is a problem because many people depend on these glaciers for their food and water. To solve it, China is using some smart ideas to make glaciers melt slowly.
②One idea is to use special glacier blankets (毯子) . At Dagu Glacier in Sichuan, scientists covered a 500-square-meter area with blankets made of geotextiles (土工织物) . The blankets stopped the glacier from getting too hot from the sun, which slowed melting by about 34% from August 2020 to October 2021. Another test used very thin, high-tech blankets on Glacier No. 1 in Xinjiang. They worked best in summer. The test showed they slowed melting by up to 70% during the hottest months.
③Scientists also create artificial snow (人造雪) to help glaciers stay cooler and melt more slowly. In April and May 2023, scientists did this in the Bailanghe Glacier in the Qilian Mountains. This project used rockets to make snow. The glacier grew 5. 9% bigger.
