World War Il lasted from 1939 to 1945. In Russia, it's called the“Great Patriotic War”. It was a crucial war.
The Soviet Union, the old name of Russia, suffered heavy losses.About 27 million Soviet people died. But they played a huge role in beating Nazi Germany.
This victory is very important to Russian people and part of their national spirit. Every year on May 9th, Russia has a big parade in Red Square to remember it.
In 2025, the 80th anniversary parade was amazing. Many world leaders came. The parade showed Russia's strong army.
