This year some twenty-three hundred teenagers (young people aged from 13-19) from all over the world will spend about ten months in US homes. They will attend US schools, meet US teenagers, and form impressions of the real America. At the same time, about thirteen hundred American teenagers will go to other countries to learn new languages and gain a new understanding of the rest of the world.
Here is a two-way student exchange in action. Fred, nineteen, spent last year in Germany with George’s family. In turn, George’s son Mike spent a year in Fred’s home in America.
Fred, a lively young man, knew little German when he arrived, but after two months’ study the language began to come to him. School was completely different from what he had expected—much harder. Students rose respectfully when the teacher entered the room. They took fourteen subjects instead of the six that were usual in the United States. There were almost no outside activities.
Family life, too, was different. The father’s word was law, and all activities were around the family rather than the individual. Fred found the food too simple at first. Also, he missed having a car. “Back home, you pick up some friends in a car and go out and have a good time. In Germany, you walk, but you soon learn to like it. ”
At the same time, in America, Mike, a friendly German boy, was also forming his idea. “I suppose I should criticize American schools,” he said. “It is far too easy by our level. But I have to say that I like it very much. In Germany we do nothing but study. Here we take part in many outside activities. I think that maybe your schools are better in training for citizens. Architecture in Rotterdam
Rotterdam, the second largest city in the Netherlands, offers anything from unique food to wonderful landscapes. However, it’s incredible architecture that makes the city stand out.
Markthal
The building, the scale (规模) of which is impressive, is home to almost 100 fresh food stalls (摊位), shop units, restaurants and over 200 apartments. Opened in 2014, it was built near where Rotterdam was first founded in 1270. Besides delicious food, you shouldn’t miss its large walls and ceiling covered with images of flying fruits, flowers and insects. Named after the city’s famous scholar Desiderius Erasmus, the bridge is 808 meters long and weighs as much as 1,700 adult elephants. The bridge has a nickname—de zwaan (the swan). It does require a bit of imagination to see how this giant piece of steel resembles an actual swan, but if you look at it from above, it becomes a bit clearer.

When you think of a map, is north on the top or the bottom Usually, maps are designed with north on top, though when we think about it, there is no logical reason for this bias. After all, there is no up or down in space. So what is wrong with south, east or west being on the top of the map The answer is:nothing at all. In fact, north-up maps only became the norm in the last few hundred years.
Ancient Egyptian maps had south at the top because the Nile River flows downhill from mountains in the south to the Mediterranean Sea in the north. Mecca was to the south of most early Muslim civilizations, and south-up maps were designed so that viewers would look up to see Mecca. Medieval Christian maps had east at the top, as they believed the Garden of Eden was in the east. The only early maps that had north at the top were those of early China because the emperor lived in the north.
North seems to have settled at the top of maps during the 16th century, largely thanks to a Flemish mapmaker, Mercator. Mercator was a great admirer of an early Greek mapmaker, who, for reasons now unknown, put north at the top of maps, so Mercator did, too. When Mercator s world map became the standard map to navigate the oceans, north up became standard as well.
What is the implication of this north-view of the world Psychologically, people tend to think of up as good and down as bad. Just think of words and phrases like “upmarket”,“upbeat” and “moving up in the world", and how they contrast with their opposites. Because north is so consistently put at the top of maps, people now think of north as good, too.
Several attempts have been made in recent years by introducing south-up maps to the market. These maps not only give us a chance to see the world differently, but also give everyone the chance to see themselves on top.
27.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs
A.North-up maps were rare in ancient times.
B.Deciding up or down in space is ridiculous.
C.Mecca maps were based on a legend.
D.The south-up map first appeared in ancient Egypt.
28.Why is north associated with good
A.An illogical reason.
B.The spread of Mercator' s maps.
C.People's preference for up.
D.An age-old tradition in Greece.
29.What is the authors attitude to south-up maps
A.Cautious. B.Supportive. C.Uncaring. D.Disapproving.
30.What's the main purpose of the text
A.To explain a phenomenon.
B.To compare various facts.
C.To correct a cultural bias.
D.To argue for a viewpoint.

由文章第二段“Ancient Egyptian maps had south at the top because the Nile River flows downhill from mountains in the south to the Mediterranean Sea in the north. Mecca was to the south of most early Muslim civilizations, and south-up maps were designed so that viewers would look up to see Mecca. Medieval Christian maps had east at the top, as they believed the Garden of Eden was in the east. The only early maps that had north at the top were those of early China because the emperor lived in the north.(古埃及地图的顶部是南,因为尼罗河从南部的山脉流向北部的地中海。麦加位于大多数早期穆斯林文明的南部,因此人们设计了向南的地图,这样人们就可以抬头看到麦加。中世纪的基督教地图上有东方,因为他们认为伊甸园在东方。只有早期的中国地图,上面有北方,因为皇帝住在北方。)”可知,古代大部分国家的地图的顶部是南或者东方,只有中国将北作为地图的顶部,所以以北为上的地图在古代是很少见的。故选A项。
由文章第四段“What is the implication of this north-view of the world Psychologically, people tend to think of up as good and down as bad. (这个世界向北的观点意味着什么 心理上,人们倾向于认为向上是好的,向下是坏的。)”可知,为什么北方和好有关是因为人们对向上的偏好。故选C项。

These maps not only give us a chance to see the world differently, but also give everyone the chance to see themselves on top.(近年来,通过将南向地图引入市场,已经进行了几次尝试。

Food serves as a form of communication in two fundamental ways.Sharing bread or other foods is a common human tradition that can promote unity and trust.Food can also have a specific meaning, and play a significant role in a family or culture’s celebrations or traditions. The foods we eat—and when and how we eat them—are often unique to a particular culture or may even differ between rural and urban areas within one country.
Sharing bread, whether during a special occasion(时刻) or at the family dinner table,is a common symbol of togetherness. Many cultures also celebrate birthdays and marriages with cakes that are cut and shared among the guests.Early forms of cake were simply a kind of bread,so this tradition has its roots in the custom of sharing bread.
Food also plays an important role in many New Year celebrations. In the southern United States, pieces of corn bread represent blocks of gold for prosperity(兴旺) in the New Year.In Greece, people share a special cake called vasilopita.A coin is put into the cake, which signifies(预示) success in the New Year for the person who receives it.
Many cultures have ceremonies to celebrate the birth of a child, and food can play a significant role.In China, when a baby is one month old, families name and welcome their child in a celebration that includes giving red-colored eggs to guests. In many cultures, round foods such as grapes, bread, and moon cakes are eaten at welcome celebrations to represent family unity.

Sam is a fourth year student at Harvard Medical School, but poetry is still a big part of his life, now with a new teacher, Rafael Campo, who believes poetry can benefit every doctor's education and work. Rafael is a physician, professor and a highly respected poet.
“Poetry is in every encounter (邂逅) with my patients. I think healing really in a very great way is about poetry. And if we do anything when we're with our patients, we're really immersing (沉浸在) ourselves in their stories, really hearing their voices. And, certainly, that's what a poem does,” he said.
Rafael worries that something important has been lost in medicine and medical education today:humanity, which he finds in poetry. To that end, he leads a weekly reading and writing workshop for medical students and residents
He thinks medical training focuses too much on distancing the doctor from his or her patients, and poems can help close that gap.
Third year resident Andrea Schwartz was one of the workshop regulars. She said, “I think there's no other profession other than medicine that produces as many writers as it does except writing itself. And I think that is because there's just so much power in doctors and patients interacting when patients are at their most vulnerable (脆弱的).”
Rafael said, “I was afraid of how people might judge me, actually. In the medical profession, as many people know, we must always put the emergency first. But, you know, that kind of treatment, if it's happening in the hospital, very regrettably, sadly, results in a bad outcome. The family is sitting by the bedside. The patient hasn't survived the cancer. Don't we still have a role as healers there?”
In a poem titled “Health”, Rafael writes of the wish to live forever in a world made painless by our incurable joy. He says he will continue teaching students, helping patients and writing poems, his own brand of medicine.

Take It from Nature
Scientists are borrowing ideas from nature to solve tough design problems.
Japan's Shinkansen bullet train sped along the rails at lightning speed. 30 To solve the train's noise trouble, Eiji Nakatsu, an engineer, looked to the kingfisher bird.
Nakatsu noticed that the kingfisher could dive through the air and into the water with barely a splash(落水声). The bird could do this because of its streamlined beak Nakatsu suggested the train's nose be modelled after the beak. And then the loud noise was gone. 31 “If you want the answer to a tough question, ask nature first. You'll find in the natural world an unbelievable library of solutions,” Nakatsu said.
The science behind nature-inspired inventions is called biomimicry(仿生学). 32 Since she cofounded the Biomimicry Institute in 2006, she has worked with hundreds of companies to develop products based on nature.
Scientist Brent Constantz was inspired by coral reefs (珊瑚礁) to create concrete that's better for the planet. Concrete, made up of cement and sand, is a top building material. The problem Making one ton of concrete produces one ton of CO2.
Constantz decided to borrow an idea from corals. When the tiny animals die, their bones form the foundation for colourful reefs. Saltwater mixes with CO2 to make these formations. To make his concrete, CO2 from power plants is mixed with saltwater. 33 “This is a huge win for the planet,” says Constantz.
The possibilities for copying nature are limitless. 34 That amounts to thousands of lessons lost. “The more we learn from nature, the more we'll want to protect it,” says Constantz.
A.But it made a loud noise.
B.It is used in bridges and miles upon miles of highways.
C.The process actually removes polluting CO2 from the air.
D.We have to fall in love with all these wonderful creatures.
E.Trouble is, thousands of animals and plants die out each year.
F.Scientist Janine Benyus is a longtime supporter of this branch of science.
G.What's more, the new train travels 10% faster and uses 15% less electricity.

Theaters of the Past
The Greek Theater
Theaters developed in many parts of Greece. Ancient Greek theaters were built in natural open air sites on conveniently shaped hills. This allowed a lot of people to enjoy a show at a time. Due to this, actors placed emphasis on exaggerated (夸张的) action and speech. And, colorful symbolic masks and costumes were used.
The Medieval Theater
The Medieval theater started in churches. That’s why medieval plays were about Bible stories. At first, it was a tradition for priests (牧师) to act out brief scenes during Christmas and Easter. Later the church didn’t allow priests to participate in any such events again, so ordinary people began these performances outside. Performances were set in the town square, with several stage settings around it.
The Elizabethan Theater
The main feature of Elizabethan theater was the stage. It has three parts: The fore stage for outside scenes; the inner stage for scenes inside a building; an upper stage for various purposes. The reason for this design is that there were no scene changes, or breaks during the play. Very little scenery was used, so the actors had to create a scene through their voices and dialogues.

As with many etymologies(词源), the exact root of this word is difficult to say with one hundred percent certainty. However, the leading theory is extremely believable and backed up by a fair bit of documented evidence. Specially, it is thought that a dollar is called a “buck” thanks to deer.
One of the earliest references of this was in 1748, 44 years before the first US dollar was created, where there is a reference to the exchange rate for a cast of alcoholic drink traded to Native Americans being “5 bucks”, referring to deerskin.
In yet another documented reference from 1748, about Conrad Weiser, while traveling through present day Ohio, noted in his journal that someone had been “robbed of the value of 300 Bucks”.
At this time , a buck skin was a common medium of exchange. There is also evident that a “buck” didn’t simply mean one deerskin, but may have meant multiple skin, depending on quality. For instance, skin from deer killed in the winter were considered superior to those killed in the summer, due to the fur being thicker. It is thought that the highest quality skins generally had a one to one value at a single buck. The specific value for given sets of skins was then set at trading. In addition, when the skin was from another animal, the number of skins required to equal a buck varied based on the animal and the quality of the skins. For instance, there is one documented trade where twelve high-quality rabbit skin equaled one buck.
This use of skins as a medium of exchange gradually die off over the next century as more and more Europeans moved in and built towns and cities. Once the US dollar was officially introduced after the passing of the Coinage Act of 1782, it quickly became the leading item used as a medium of exchange, but the term “buck” stuck around and by the mid-nineteenth century was being used as an informal term for dollar.
19.It can be inferred from the text that _______.
A.the first dollar was made from a deerskin
B.a skin from any animal was valued at a buck
C.the quality of a deerskin varied with the change of seasons
D.deerskins were the only medium for trading in the 1970s
20.When did the use of skins as a common medium of exchange die off
A.As more and more Europeans settled in America.
B.When the Coinage Act of 1792 was passed.
C.When the bucks died out in the 1950s.
D.As the US dollar was officially introduced.
21.The author develops this text mainly by _______.
A.analyzing causes B.following the order of importance
C.making comparison D.following the order of time
22.The text is mainly about_______.
A.when the dollar first appeared B.why a dollar is called a buck
C.What a dollar was worth in the past D.how the word dollar came into being

26. B
27. E
28. F
29. C
30. D
26. 上文“Has your mother or friend told you that you’re an ungrateful person Do you feel unable to appreciate the world or people around you Are you obsessed (着迷) with things you don’t have instead of being thankful for what you do have (你的母亲或朋友有没有告诉你你是一个不懂的感恩的人?你是否觉得无法欣赏周围的世界或人?你是否执着于你所没有的东西,而不去感激你所拥有的?)”提出了三种生活中常见的情况。下文“If so, then you will definitely need to work on being a more grateful person. (如果是这样,那么你肯定需要努力成为一个更感恩的人)”。所以选项B“你也许发现你符合其中的一种情况”,起到承上启下的作用,符合句意和逻辑要求,故选B。
27. 上文“Although such encouragement is morally meaningful, it seems still to be too abstract. So, how can you make giving thanks part of your daily routine (虽然这样的鼓励在道德上是有意义的,但似乎还是太抽象了。那么,你怎么能让表达感恩成为你日常生活的一部分呢?)”可知接下来会给我们介绍感恩的方法,所以选项E “有一些小贴士可以帮助你练习感恩”承接了上文,故选E。
28. 根据上文“Stopping playing the victim is the first step you’re supposed to take. (拒绝扮演受害者是你应该采取的第一步)”以及下文“If you want to be grateful, stop complaining to the world, your teachers, your friends and your family about not putting themselves in your shoes, and focus on how much they’ve helped and cared about you. (如果你想感恩,就不要向世界、你的老师、你的朋友和你的家人抱怨他们没有设身处地为你着想,而要关注他们对你的帮助和关心)”可知,选项F“不懂得感恩的人总是把问题归咎于世界,把所有的过错都归咎于别人”在句意和逻辑上起到衔接上下文的作用。故选F。
29. 上文“Volunteering in your community is another effective way to show how grateful you are for what the world has given you. Whether you’re helping clean up a local park, working in a soup kitchen, or teaching children or adults in your community to learn to read, your viewpoints on life will change positively. (在你的社区里做志愿者是另一种有效的方式来表达你对世界给予你的一切的感激之情。无论你是在帮助清理当地的公园,在厨房里工作,还是教社区里的孩子或成年人学习阅读,你的人生观都会发生积极的变化)”,选项C“渐渐地,你会更加感激回报社会的机会”承接上文,表示上文行为的结果,也对应本段主题,通过做志愿者可以让你学会感恩,故选C。
30. 此句是本段主题句。根据下文“You can help a neighbor look for a lost dog. You can also help an old lady carry her groceries. You don’t have to search for these opportunities purposefully. Sometimes they will present themselves. (你可以帮邻居找一只丢失的狗。你也可以帮一位老太太搬运食品杂货。你不必刻意寻找这些机会。有时他们自己就会出现) ”可知,帮助别人并不是有目的寻找机会,帮助别人应该是做一些碰到的事情,能帮就要帮的事。所以选项D“做一个善举也是一个练习感恩的好方法”,能概括本段主题,再对比前两段主题句,选项D在句式上也符合要求,故选D。

Spanish poet Manuel Moya has found an inexhaustible(无穷无尽的) treasure and source of inspiration in the works of some ancient Chinese poets. The grey-bearded 57-year-old never tried to hide his strong love for the famous ancient Chinese recluse(隐士),Tao Yuanming and other poets Wang Wei,Li Bai and Du Fu,and openly emulates their styles,in both his works and life.
In fact, readers can easily recognize the Chinese philosophy of life and literary images in the more than 40 poems that make up Moya’s collection “Impedimenta”.The poems are in deliberate imitation of the Chinese poets.
In “Recalling a Poem by Wang Wei”,Moya transplanted his hometown’s natural views verse by verse to where the Chinese poet put the sunset and birds over autumn mountains.
Such 21st-century Spanish versions of ancient Chinese pastoral poems helped win him a local poetry prize. It added to the many honors, some of them national, granted to him in a span of 34 years, during which he published more than 20 poetry anthologies and 10 storybooks and novels.

You might think about posting what you are looking for on social media, but it probably won't result in a useful response. 29 If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.

It also listed her favorite sports and activities, and provided her phone number. 30

43.Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main point (s) of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.
Wish You Were More Creative Just Pretend!
One great irony about our collective interest in creativity is that we tend to frame it in uncreative ways. That is to say, most of us marry creativity to our concept of self: Either we’re “creative” or we aren’t, without much of a middle ground. “I’m just not a creative person!” a frustrated student might say in art class, while another might blame her talent at painting for her difficulties in math, concluding with a comment such as, “I’m very right-brained.”
Dr. Pillay, an assistant professor at Harvard University, has spent a great part of his career correcting these ideas. He believes that the key to unlocking your creative potential is to forget the advice that urges you to “believe in yourself”. In fact, you should do the opposite: Believe you are someone else.
Dr. Pillay points to a 2016 study demonstrating the impact of stereotypes (刻板印象) on one’s behavior. The authors, educational psychologists Denis Dumas and Kevin Dunbar, divided the college student subjects into three groups, instructing the members of one to think of themselves as “weird poets” and the members of another to imagine they were “strict librarians” (the third group was the control). The researchers then presented all the participants with ten ordinary objects, including a fork, a carrot, and a pair of pants, and asked them to come up with as many different uses as possible for each one. Those who were asked to imagine themselves as weird poets came up with the widest range of ideas, while those in the strict-librarian group had the fewest. Meanwhile the researchers found only small differences in students’ creativity levels across academic majors. In fact, the physics majors imagining themselves as poets came up with more ideas than the art majors did.
These results, write Dumas and Dunbar, suggest that creativity is not an individual feature but a “product of context and perspective”. Everyone can be creative, as long as he or she feels like a creative person. Dr. Pillay’s work takes this a step further: He argues that simply identifying yourself as creative is less powerful than taking the bold, creative step of imagining you are somebody else. This exercise, which he calls psychological Halloweenism, refers to the conscious action of inhabiting another persona. An actor may employ this technique to get into character, but anyone can use it.
Unfortunately, those ideas often get drowned out because most of us spend way too much time worrying, and about two things in particular: how successful/unsuccessful we are and how little we’re focusing on the task at hand. These twin worries feed on each other an unfocused person is an unsuccessful one, we believe — and so we don’t allow our minds to wander into its quietly fertile fields.

“Five Reasons to Thank Your Workout Partner.” One reason was: “You'll actually show up if you know someone is waiting for you at the gym,”可知,此处阐述了感谢健身搭档的理由。
由此段第一句中的decide what you want from that person可知,此段主要讲要根据自己的需求寻找健身搭档。
If you plan on working out in a gym, that person must belong to the same gym.

A
As a young boy,I knew what people said was not always what they meant or were feeling. And I knew it was possible to get others to do what I wanted if I read their real feelings and responded suitably to their needs. At the age of eleven,I sold sponge rubber(海绵橡胶) door-to-door after school and quickly worked out how to tell if someone was likely to buy from me.When I knocked on a door,if someone told me to go away but their hands were open and they showed their palms,I knew it was safe to continue with my show because they weren’t angry or threatening although they may have a cold attitude. If someone told me to go away in a soft voice but used a pointed finger or closed hand,I knew it was time to leave.
As a teenager,I became a pots and pans(锅碗瓢盆) salesperson, and my ability to read people earned me enough money to buy my first house.Selling gave me the chance to meet people and study them close and to know whether they would buy or not, simply by watching their body language.
I joined the life insurance business at the age of twenty. And I went on to break several sales records for my company, becoming the youngest person to sell over a million dollars’ worth of business in my first year.I was lucky that the skills I’d learned as a boy in watching body language while selling pots and pans could be used in this new area, and were directly related to the success I could have in any business closely connected with people.

After years of observing human nature, I have decided that two qualities make the difference between men of great achievement and men of average performance curiosity and discontent. I have never known an outstanding man who lacked either. And I have never known an average man who had both. The two belong together.
Together, these deep human urges(驱策力)count for much more than ambition. Galileo was not merely ambitious when he dropped objects of varying weights from the Leaning Tower at Pisa and timed their fall to the ground. Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”
Fortunately, curiosity and discontent don't have to be learned. We are born with them and need only recapture them.
“The great man,” said Mencius(孟子), “is he who does not lose his child's heart.” Yet most of us do lose it. We stop asking questions. We stop challenging custom. We just follow the crowd. And the crowd desires restful average. It encourages us to occupy our own little corner, to avoid foolish leaps into the dark, to be satisfied.
Most of us meet new people, and new ideas, with hesitation. But once having met and liked them, we think how terrible it would have been, had we missed the chance. We will probably have to force ourselves to waken our curiosity and discontent and keep them awake.
How should you start Modestly, so as not to become discouraged. I think of one friend who couldn't arrange flowers to satisfy herself. She was curious about how the experts did it. How she is one of the experts, writing books on flower arrangement.
One way to begin is to answer your own excuses. You haven't any special ability Most people don't; there are only a few geniuses. You haven't any time That's good, because it's always the people with no time who get things done. Harriet Stowe, mother of six, wrote parts of Uncle Tom's Cabin while cooking. You're too old Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel, and that Grandma Moses showed her first pictures when she was 78.
However you start, remember there is no better time to start than right now, for you'll never be more alive than you are at this moment.

Unlike many other exchange programmes, my school focused on arts such as singing, acting, dancing, and many other talents, so there wasn't much room for sports. Honestly, in the beginning, I was a little sad because I wanted to participate in basketball. However, I did not let that disappoint me. After a while, I took a pause for some self-reflection. I remembered how much I like to sing even though I don't think I'm good at it. I then thought to myself, “Why not be the one to try acting?”
After my first week, I loved the school! My art classes feel like a break from reality and the scenery at my school makes me feel as though I am in some talent-based American high school movies. Every morning, we are welcomed with the beautiful voices from my teachers. At lunch, we are entertained with musical performances by any student who wishes to sing.
During my second week of school, I was required to perform my first five-minute play with my class partner. I was a bit nervous, but I gathered courage and did it. By chance, a staff person from the school office saw my performance. After school, on my way to the bus, she called me and informed me she had recommended me and some other students to participate in an upcoming two-day workshop. I first thought she was teasing me. When I got home, I found out she'd also sent an email to my host mum.
My host mum is very busy, but she planned her schedule around the activity. She picked me up from school and drove me to the workshop which was an hour's drive from my school. After the workshop, we were presented with tickets to watch the play the following day. After the show, I met with the actors, thanked and congratulated them. On our way home, I was smiling so much that my cheeks hurt. I appreciate my host family and school for giving me this experience.

A. coverage覆盖;B. use 使用;C. benefit 益处;D. responsibility 责任。 故选A。

A. walls of ear耳壁;B. seeing is believing 眼见为实;C. word of mouth 口碑;D. grave of teeth 牙齿的坟墓。 People rely much no friends’ advice in choosing films,可知人们会根据朋友建议来选择观看的电影,因此电影院必须做好宣传,让电影有好的口碑,以此来吸引更多的观众走人电影院。故选C。
A. drives out 驱逐 淘汰;B. wears out 磨损 筋疲力尽;C. pays off 还清 回报;D. dies away (声音)变弱 逐渐消失。根据Talk first degrades to whisper ,可知本句在描述声音由大变小的过程,故选D。

A. imitate模仿;B. guide 引导;C. exploit开采;D. replace 取代。根据本段第一句the cinema is learning from the theatre可知电影院只不过是在学习模仿剧院,故选A。
A. refer to谈及 涉及;B. compare with 与……相比;C. suffer from 遭受;D. persist in 坚持。

After years of observing human nature, I have decided that two qualities make the difference between men of great achievement and men of average performance curiosity and discontent. I have never known an outstanding man who lacked either. And I have never known an average man who had both. The two belong together.
Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”(像伽利略一样,历史上所有的伟人都感到好奇,并不满地问:“为什么?为什么?为什么?”) 可推断,伽利略的例子告诉我们,伟大来自于持久的探索欲望。故选D。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段中的Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”(像伽利略一样,历史上所有的伟人都感到好奇,并不满地问:“为什么?为什么?为什么?”) ;以及第四段中的“The great man,” said Mencius (孟子), “is he who does not lose his child's heart.” Yet most of us do lose it. I have never known an outstanding man who lacked either. And I have never known an average man who had both. The two belong together. 所以“The Keys to Achievement(成就的关键)”作为文章标题最为合适。

31. B
32. E
33. F
34. C
35. D
34. 上文“Volunteering in your community is another effective way to show how grateful you are for what the world has given you. Whether you’re helping clean up a local park, working in a soup kitchen, or teaching children or adults in your community to learn to read, your viewpoints on life will change positively. (在你的社区里做志愿者是另一种有效的方式来表达你对世界给予你的一切的感激之情。无论你是在帮助清理当地的公园,在厨房里工作,还是教社区里的孩子或成年人学习阅读,你的人生观都会发生积极的变化)”,选项C“渐渐地,你会更加感激回报社会的机会”承接上文,表示上文行为的结果,也对应本段主题,通过做志愿者可以让你学会感恩,故选C。
35. 此句是本段主题句。根据下文“You can help a neighbor look for a lost dog. You can also help an old lady carry her groceries. You don’t have to search for these opportunities purposefully. Sometimes they will present themselves. (你可以帮邻居找一只丢失的狗。你也可以帮一位老太太搬运食品杂货。你不必刻意寻找这些机会。有时他们自己就会出现) ”可知,帮助别人并不是有目的寻找机会,帮助别人应该是做一些碰到的事情,能帮就要帮的事。所以选项D“做一个善举也是一个练习感恩的好方法”,能概括本段主题,再对比前两段主题句,选项D在句式上也符合要求,故选D。
