Chinese New Year is one of the biggest festivals in China. We call it the Spring Festival. It is in late January or early February. The holiday is just one week, but there is so much to do!

At the Spring Festival, people always visit their family and have big meals. There are many kinds of lucky food: dumplings, rice cakes, spring rolls and yuanxiao. They are so good!

幸运的食物有很多种: 饺子、年糕、春卷和元宵。
There are many kinds of lucky food: dumplings, rice cakes, spring rolls and yuanxiao.
年糕又称“年年糕”,与“年年高”谐音，吃年糕寓意人们的工作和生活一年比一年高。
元宵寓意全家人团团圆圆，和睦幸福。
春卷寓意迎春纳福、万象更新、蓬勃长久，祈求家人平安健康；包春卷的过程从头包到尾，我们称之为有头有尾，寓意吉祥。
“饺”与“交”谐音，有“更岁交子”之意。而且饺子外形如元宝，春节吃饺子寓意“招财进宝”，象征财源如汤水滚滚而来。
