Do you like Chinese traditional painting and dance They are two important parts of the traditional Chinese art. But what about when they meet each other
This year, a dance drama titled Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》) was staged on CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala and became popular.
According to CCTV, this poetic dance program was inspired by the 900-year-old Chinese painting A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》), created by Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng at about 18. The painting is amazing in its sweeping size, rich coloration and the expressive details, reported by CCTV. It shows a Chinese blue-green landscape: mountains and groupings of infinite (无限的) rise and fall between cloudless sky and rippling (涟漪的) water.
When the dancers moved elegantly, audiences seemed to be looking at the moving mountains and rivers. “It brings me a pure experience of beauty. It is not only a drama but also an exhibition. Vast mountains and rivers are coming to life!” Internet user Mo Weisha wrote in a review. “More than a thousand years later, green mountains and rivers still impress people as they did long ago.” Some people even decided to watch the dance again when it was staged in the theaters later. In fact, in recent years, more and more modern shows have featured Chinese traditional culture and received warm welcome. As for the reason, it is due to people’s great love for traditional culture.

Fresco(湿壁画) refers to painting techniques used on plaster(灰泥). Popular during the Renaissance period, especially in Italy, frescoes were usually used to decorate walls of public buildings.
The purest type of fresco painting, also known as “buon fresco”, involves mixing pigments(颜料) directly with wet plaster. The color is thus actually part of the material, rather than a coating on top of it, as is the case with “fresco a secco” or with regular painting. The colors of a buon fresco are especially vibrant and long-lasting; the Bull-Leaping Fresco in Knossos, Crete was created around the 17th—15th centuries BCE, but the colors are still clear today. However, this technique is not without its unique disadvantages. For one thing, colors look different when they are wet than when they are dry. Artists of the time typically mixed their own plaster and color mixtures, working quickly to finish a part of a mural(壁画) before the plaster dried. The mixture they created the next time might have been a slightly different shade. If you look carefully at the frescoes on the Sistine Chapel, you can see which parts must have been completed in a single session by the faint differences in colors.
Fresco a secco requires something to be added to the paint to make it stick to the dry plaster. This technique is sometimes used to repair a buon fresco that has been damaged, although the colors are generally not as bright. However, some colors actually worked better with the fresco a secco. During the Renaissance period, the available pigments for creating blue did not mix well with wet plaster; for this reason, skies, water, and blue clothing sometimes were painted as secco frescoes after the buon fresco had dried.
In 1997, the frescoes by Giotto di Bondone in the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy were damaged in an earthquake. 150 restorers, of whom most are volunteers, spent five years gathering 60,000 pieces that they could find and set them back into place, much like a puzzle, although about 35 percent of the fresco remains incomplete.

C.It took time for painters to create their unique colors.
D.It was hard to create the exactly same color every time.

B.The reasons why painters preferred blue.
C.The characters and uses of fresco a secco.

Look carefully and you’ll find musicians at the top of almost any industry. The television broadcaster Paula Zahn(cello) and the NBC chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd (French horn) attended college on music scholarships; Both Microsoft’s Mr. Allen and the venture capitalist Rogar MeNamee have rock bands. Lorry Page, a co-founder of Google, played saxophone in high school. The former World Bank president James D.Wolfensohn has played cello at Carnegie Hall.
The connection isn’t a coincidence. I know because I asked. I put the question to top-flight professionals in industries from tech to finance to media, all of whom had serious (if often little-known) past lives as musicians. Almost all made a connection between their music training and their professional achievements.
Will your school music program turn your kid into a Paul Allen, the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft (guitar) Or a Woody Allen(clarinet) Probably not. These are outstanding achievers. But the way these and other visionaries (有远见的人) I spoke to process music is interesting.
But the key question is: why does that connection exist Paul Allen offers an answer. He says music “establish your confidence in the ability to create.” He began playing the violin at age 7 and switched to the guitar as a teenager. Even in the early days of Microsoft, he would pick up his guitar at the end of marathon days of programming. The music was the emotional analog (类比) to his day job, both of them show his different creativity. He says, “something is pushing you to look beyond what currently exists and express yourself in a new way.”
For many of the high achievers I spoke with, music functions as a “hidden language,” as Mr. Wolfensohn calls it, one that enhances the ability to connect different or even opposite ideas. When he ran the World Band, Mr.Wolfensohn traveled to more than 100 countries, often taking in local performances (and occasionally joining in on a borrowed cello), which helped him understand “the culture of people”.
Consider the qualities these high achievers say music has sharpened: cooperation, creativity, discipline and the capacity to coordinate (协调) conflicting ideas. All are qualities obviously absent from public life. Music may not make you a genius, or rich, or even a better person. But it helps train you to think differently, to process different points of views - and most important, to take pleasure in listening.
27.The reason why the author quote so many outstanding people as examples in the first paragraph is
A.to prove the popularity and the charm of music
B.to prove all winners are musicians before
C.to encourage kids to choose school music program
D.to prove the connection between success and music
28.What question did the author put to top-flight professionals
A.Are success related to music or not
B.Why do you choose music training
C.What’s the benefit of learning music
D.Why do you give up the career as a musician
29.Which of the following is true
A.Everybody knows those well-known people are musicians before.
B.Musicians exist in all industries.
C.Music can certainly make you become a better person.
D.Music helps Mr. Wolfensohn have a better understanding of the different culture.
30.The main idea of this passage is that
A.many musicians are found at the top of almost any industry
B.music plays an important role in achieving success
C.music can provide a new way to express yourself
D.music is an absolute necessity for everyone
31.The author develops the passage mainly________
A.by classification B.by comparison C.by example D.by process

【分析】
本文是说明文。文章介绍了兴盛于欧洲文艺复兴时期的两种壁画的绘画技巧。
【详解】
23. 词义猜测题。根据第二段的“The colors of a buon fresco are especially vibrant and long-lasting; the Bull-Leaping Fresco in Knossos, Crete was created around the 17th—15th centuries BCE, but the colors are still clear today.(布恩壁画的色彩尤其……持久;克里特岛克诺索斯的跳牛壁画创作于公元前17至15世纪左右,但其色彩至今仍然清晰。)”可知,布恩壁画的色彩能够持续很久,这说明了它的色彩特别“鲜艳的”,才让今天的人们得以目睹其效果。故选A。
24. 推理判断题。根据第二段的“The mixture they created the next time might have been a slightly different shade. If you look carefully at the frescoes on the Sistine Chapel, you can see which parts must have been completed in a single session by the faint differences in colors.(他们下一次创造的混合物可能有点不同。如果你仔细看西斯廷教堂的壁画。通过颜色上的微弱差异,你可以看到哪些部分一定是在同一时间内完成的。) ”可知,作者提到西斯廷教堂的壁画是想说明对于画匠而言,每次都调配出一模一样的颜色是很困难的。故选D。
25. 段落大意题。根据第三段“Fresco a secco requires something to be added to the paint to make it stick to the dry plaster. This technique is sometimes used to repair a buon fresco that has been damaged, although the colors are generally not as bright. However, some colors actually worked better with the fresco a secco. During the Renaissance period, the available pigments for creating blue did not mix well with wet plaster; for this reason, skies, water, and blue clothing sometimes were painted as secco frescoes after the buon fresco had dried.(干壁画需要在油漆中添加一些东西,使其粘在干燥的石膏上。这种技术有时用于修复损坏的彩绘壁画,不过颜色通常不那么鲜艳。然而,有些颜色实际上更适合干壁画。在文艺复兴时期,用于创造蓝色的颜料不能很好地与湿石膏混合;由于这个原因,天空、水和蓝色的衣服有时会在彩绘壁画干燥后被画成干壁画。)”可知,第三段的主要内容是干壁画技法的特点和用法。故选C。
26. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“In 1997, the frescoes by Giotto di Bondone in the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy were damaged in an earthquake. 150 restorers, of whom most are volunteers, spent five years gathering 60,000 pieces that they could find and set them back into place, much like a puzzle, although about 35 percent of the fresco remains incomplete.(1997年,意大利阿西西圣弗朗西斯大教堂的乔托·迪·邦多纳的壁画在地震中受损。150名修复者,其中大多数是志愿者,花了五年时间收集了6万件他们能找到的碎片,并把它们放回原位,就像拼图一样,不过大约35%的壁画仍然不完整。) ”可知,修复乔托在圣弗朗西斯大教堂的壁画的过程“费时费力”。故选D。

28.推理判断题。根据第二段“The connection isn’t a coincidence. I know because I asked. I put the question to top-flight professionals in industries from tech to finance to media, all of whom had serious (if often little-known) past lives as musicians. Almost all made a connection between their music training and their professional achievements. (这种联系并非巧合。我知道,因为我问过。我向从科技、金融到媒体等行业的顶级专业人士提出了这个问题,他们都曾是严肃的音乐家(尽管往往鲜为人知)。几乎所有人都把他们的音乐训练和他们的职业成就联系起来。)”可知,作者进一步论述了成功和音乐之间的关系,所以这个问题应为“成功和音乐到底有没有关系呢?”故选A。
29.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段最后一句话“When he ran the World Band, Mr.Wolfensohn traveled to more than 100 countries, often taking in local performances (and occasionally joining in on a borrowed cello), which helped him understand “the culture of people”. (当他管理世界乐队时,沃尔芬森先生游历了100多个国家,经常参加当地的演出(偶尔也会用借来的大提琴加入演出),这有助于他了解“人民的文化”。)”可知,音乐帮助沃尔芬森先生更好地理解不同的文化。故选D。

Chair Transformation Number 20B, made in 1996 — by Lucas Samaras
Here, Samaras explores the double meaning of “flight”, referring to both the starlike form created by the stacked chairs, and the movement of a single chair moving through space. From different viewpoints, the sculpture appears to be upright, leaning back, or springing forward. From the side, it even appears like a zigzagging (之字形的) line.
Typewriter Eraser, Scale X, made in 1998 — by Coosje van Bruggen
The artist chose the typewriter eraser as his model for this work based upon childhood memories of playing with the object in his father’s office. Here the brush arcs (作弧形运动) back, conveying a sense of motion, as if the wheel like eraser were rolling down the hill and making its way towards the gate of the garden.
Moondog, model 1974, made in 19981999 — by Tony Smith
The title itself comes from two sources: Moondog was the name of a blind poet and folk musician who lived in New York City, and Smith has also compared this sculpture to Dog Barking at the Moon, a painting by Joan Miro. He first created Moondog in 1974 as a 33 inch cardboard model and cast it in bronze as a garden sculpture in 1980. This version was designed by Smith, but it was not completed until after his death.

Daniel Brush,an astonishing worker in gold, jewels and steel died on November 2022,aged 75.Students from a jewellery school once came to Brush’s studio,a loft in mid-Manhattan,awed to be meeting a figure who,to them, was a worker of miracles.
For 45 years in that loft,he had pursued his calling. His wife Olivia was the only company. He produced hundreds of objects of all sorts, most of them exquisite and many astonishingly small.Rather than use electricity,he laboured alone in a forest of antique machines and when tools frustrated him he made his own, displaying them in cupboards as art in themselves.
Above all else,he worked in gold. His obsession took fire when at 13 he saw an Etruscan gold bowl in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The ancient technique of applying gold beads as fine as sand-grains to a curved gold surface without solder(焊接),was stunning, but so was the lightness of spirit.
He resolved then that he would make such a bowl, and gold became the study of his life.Simply to watch it melt, turn to red-hot and white-hot,then glow purple, was magical. To hold pure gold grain and let it move slowly through his fingers restored his calm of spirit. His chief motivation,he said, was to understand the material and, through that, himself. He wondered why his heart had beaten so fast in the museum that day.Gold in particular had a message for him.His contact with this glorious metal might focus all his attention and help him to hear it.
He developed delicate craftsmanship, with each object virtually a museum piece. For Daniel Brush,he loved the idea that one might take a piece made by Brush out of a pocket, let its beauty pass from mind to mind, and smile. That too was what its maker was after.

The word “art” usually evokes (唤起) images of white-walled galleries, abstract paintings costing millions of dollars and wealthy people, far removed from our everyday experience. Yet, art in 21st century is a different story.
The Internet has weakened the idea that art appreciation is only for the rich, It has enabled more people than ever to have access to izens are not only consumers of art but creators and participants, too. The social media has made it much easier to share unprofessional work with the whole world. An unprofessional artist can now sell work or get advertising money from online videos.
“A picture is worth a thousand words” is the motto of data visualisation (可视化) fans. The amount of information available today can be huge, so some people are working on presenting data using visually appealing diagrams that are easy for the public to understand. Of course, diagrams can also be used by dishonest people to mislead the audience, so we need to take care to interpret them the right way.
Another way that art advances education is by enabling us to understand concepts that are invisible to the naked eye. For most biology students, the names and functions of dozens of proteins go in one ear and out the other, but unforgettable videos like “The Inner Life of the Cell” turn proteins into tiny people with different jobs in a city of large machinery. The same goes for concepts in physics such as black holes- we can understand them better with the help of artists who have backgrounds in both art and science.
Even though most people may not be consciously aware of it, art is all around us. As most of our surrounding environment is man-made, everything in it contains some element of art and can influence our behaviour—telling us where to go or how to interact with objects, feeding us true or false information and controlling our emotions. Art indeed has a greater impact than many would believe it does.;
27.What is the second paragraph mainly about
A.How the Internet provides service for the rich.
B.How the Internet brings art closer to everyone.
C.How netizens can contribute to art.
D.How people appreciate and use art.;
28.What’s the author s attitude towards using diagrams in paragraph 3
A.Optimistic. B.Disapproving. C.Objective. D.Indifferent.;
29.What can be inferred from paragraph 4
A.Videos turn proteins into tiny people.
B.Videos explain concepts better than pictures.
C.Art helps students understand some concepts.
D.Art helps artists have more backgrounds.;
30.Which of the following best describes art in the 21st century
A.Accessible and powerful. B.Abstract and graceful.
C.Expensive and digital. D.Traditional and controversial.
三、七选五阅读(本大题共1小题)
It’s happened to all of us: a song comes on the radio, and we are immediately transported back to a time in our past. 31
There are a few things that connect tunes with our memories. Music is often a necessary element of many important life events, and it is also very effective in arresting our attention. 32 Besides, the emotional nature of music helps make it particularly memorable.
We often become familiar with a piece of music because we hear it as background music. The more familiar a piece of music is, the more effective it is in bringing back memories. 33 The reason is that we are far more likely to hear a song over and over again than to watch a film or a TV programme in the same way.
Tiffany Jenkins, writing for a culture column, has a different opinion: 34 She tells us how throughout history oral cultures have passed important knowledge from generation to generation through songs because of this characteristic. The rhythm (韵律) and rhyme in lines of songs all serve as memory aids.
35 This fact corresponds with what many experts call the “reminiscence bump (怀旧性记忆)”, where older adults (over forty) have increased recollection of events that occurred during their adolescence and early adulthood.
It’s clear that our memories and music are closely linked — to the point that music is being used to help Alzheimer’s disease sufferers access memories that they thought they had lost.
A.Familiarity is important.
B.Music itself is easy to remember.
C.But what makes music so effective in doing this
D.Our musical preference usually forms during our teens.
E.This applies to music more than other cultural products.
F.Pop music especially can be connected with an important memory.
G.Music and these life events are likely to be linked together in our memories.

72.【答案】Possible version one:
E-books or Printed books
Nowadays, e-books have been gaining ever-increasing popularity with its portability and easy accessibility. However, I still have an undeniably strong preference for reading printed books.
Firstly, reading physical books facilitates comprehension. Without distractions popping up, readers are more likely to be absorbed in the reading, which lays the foundation for a sound grasp of knowledge. Additionally, it is really an engaging experience to leaf through the pages and even highlight your favorite lines.
To sum up, under no circumstances will physical books be replaced by e-books. Why not pick a book and immerse yourself in the awesome experience!
Possible version two:
E-books or Printed books
The debate about printed books or e-books has been an age-old one. As for me, I stand up for the latter. On top of edges like portability, easy updates and customized services, two other advantages shine through.
First and foremost, e-books totally eliminate the paper publishing and shipping processes, which means more trees saved from being chopped down and less emissions released into air. Thus, e-books are better for the environment on the whole. Furthermore, e-books provide readers with multimedia elements, such as audio or video options, especially friendly to users with learning disability or visual impairment.
In conclusion, e-books offer numerous advantages over printed versions, making them an ideal alternative for readers.

二、阅读单选(本大题共4小题)
Artists are continually trying to find creative ways to show their talent. Some, like Iris Scott, paint with their bare fingers. Now Turkish artist Garip Ay has become well-known worldwide by adopting Ebru, an ancient technique that allows him to create amazing paintings on water.
Believed to have originated in Central Asia in the 13th century, Ebru made its way to Turkey by the 16th century, where it was perfected. The art form remains popular in Turkey, with many painters using the technique to create attractive pieces, coveted by both collectors and tourists.
Ebru artists begin by adding some gum to water to help increase the water's viscosity(黏 度)and prevent it from mixing with the paint. The solution (溶液)is then poured into a wooden container with the same dimensions as the solid surface on which the painting will finally rest. To keep the colors afloat, and improve their ability to spread across the water's surface, some drops of ox bile(胆汁)are mixed in with each color.
To create the paintings, the artists first splash(泼洒)the paints on the water using brushes made with horsehair. They then use droppers(滴管)to carefully shape the colors and create the perfect designs. When complete,an absorbent surface, such as paper, is carefully placed on top to get the painting. Once dry, the artwork is flattened and polished by hand.
Ebru was initially used for book covers or to decorate the inside pages with wildly colorful papers. However, artists like Ay have added a modern twist by using absorbent fabrics, glass, and wood as solid surfaces.
Though Ay has created several amazing paintings since he began using Ebru in 2007, the most famous is his 2016 recreation of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. Those seeking a more modern Ebru creation is pleased to know that in 2017. The artist also painted characters from the popular Netflix series, Stranger Things.

Don’t ever tell Angela Alvarez it’s too late for dreams to come true. The old woman just brought home a Latin Grammy for best new artist, becoming the musical award show’s eldest winner ever.
The Cuban American musician’s crowning moment came after decades of writing songs but performing them only for friends and family. Until she was 90 years old, she went to the Avalon and gave her first concert.
“I loved music very much,” Alvarez says. “When I was a child, I had two aunts that played the piano and taught me how to sing. Whenever there was a family gathering, I was the artist; they made dresses for me and I always liked to perform.” Music was always there for her, as it helped her cope with the ups and downs of life: from love and motherhood, to her relentless efforts to reunite her family and the eventual loss of her beloved husband and, years later, of her only daughter, both to cancer.
Listening to many of these songs while growing up was especially influential on her grandson Carlos José Alvarez, a professional composer and producer based in Los Angeles who owes his love of music largely to his Nana, as her grandchildren called her. As Angela was getting on in years without ever recording any of her work, he had an inspiration that made him fly quickly to Louisiana to document each and every one of her songs, for “the legacy of our family”.
“I hope this entire project inspires young people to sit down and talk to their elders. Ask them questions. Ask them about the dreams they had once upon a time. They will be surprised at what they will find,” Carlos concludes. “If we don’t ask them, they won’t tell us, and their wisdom and dreams will leave with them.”
“There are people who give up, but I did not give up, and I always fought,” Angela said during her wining speech. “I promise you that it’s never too late.”

Researchers at the Université de Montreal have found that our favorite music, particularly the emotions brought on by listening to bittersweet music, might be an effective, drug-free way of lowering our perception of pain.
Music has long been known to have a hypoalgesic effect, meaning that it causes a decreased sensitivity to painful stimuli (刺激物). But to test which kind of music was most effective for reducing pain, 63 participants received moderately painful heat stimuli to the inner forearm, resulting in a sensation similar to a hot teacup being held against the skin. The pain was paired with short pieces of music, each lasting around seven minutes.
Listening to their favorite music strongly reduced pain intensity and unpleasantness in participants, compared to control tracks or silence. Unfamiliar relaxing tracks did not have the same effect.
The researchers then interviewed participants about their favorite songs and conducted an analysis about four themes related to categories of emotional experience: energizing/activating, happy/cheerful, calming/relaxing, and moving/bittersweet. They wanted to see whether emotion themes couldmodulatethe hypoalgesic effect of favorite music. “We found that reports of moving or bittersweet emotional experiences seem to result in lower ratings of pain unpleasantness, which was driven by more intense enjoyment of the music and more musical chills,” said Valevicius.
While they don’t define “musical chills” in their paper, the researchers point to previous neurological studies that suggest a dopamine (多巴胺) pathway in the brain may be fundamental to both the enjoyment of music and music-induced chills. In some people, the researchers say, chills can appear as a tingling sensation, shivers, or goosebumps.
24. What is the common view about music

D.They contribute little to the enjoyment of music.
27. What’s the text mainly about
A.Listening to music can make us more focused.
B.Music is a powerful tool for boosting our mood.
C.Emotional pain has an impact on our physical health.
D.Our favorite bittersweet music may help relieve pain.
Even though most people may not be consciously aware of it, art is all around us. As most of our surrounding environment is man-made, everything in it contains some element of art and can influence our behaviour—telling us where to go or how to interact with objects, feeding us true or false information and controlling our emotions. Art indeed has a greater impact than many would believe it does.;
28.What is the second paragraph mainly about
A.How the Internet provides service for the rich.
B.How the Internet brings art closer to everyone.
C.How netizens can contribute to art.
D.How people appreciate and use art.;
29.What’s the author s attitude towards using diagrams in paragraph 3
A.Optimistic. B.Disapproving. C.Objective. D.Indifferent.;
30.What can be inferred from paragraph 4
A.Videos turn proteins into tiny people.
B.Videos explain concepts better than pictures.
C.Art helps students understand some concepts.
D.Art helps artists have more backgrounds.;
31.Which of the following best describes art in the 21st century
A.Accessible and powerful. B.Abstract and graceful.

六、应用文写作
【知识点】一般现在时、学校生活、日常活动、演讲稿
73.【答案】Possible version one:

I was 68 when I first stepped on stage as a standup comedian in 2003. I’d never set foot in a comedy club before. I’ve always been a performer — I’ve worked as a singer, actor and musician — but all that came to an end after 911. I live in New York, and we watched the twin towers fall from my apartment building. For a year afterwards, nobody wanted to go out or be entertained.
It was then that I started to think about comedy. I realised people needed to laugh, to enjoy themselves again, and thought that with a little training I could do it. I took a few classes, tried to work out a routine, and finally plucked up the courage to get up on stage. That first time was terrifying. I had no idea what the audience would make of me.
In New York, comedians are typically young men with beards. It’s hard enough to break through as a woman, even harder as someone old enough to be their grandmother. As I stepped on stage that first time, people laughed nervously. They were clearly surprised to see me. I introduced myself, stated my age and tried my first joke. There was silence. But by the time I got to the third line, people were properly laughing, I was addicted.
Now my sets differ. I might be on stage for 10 minutes in front of a dozen people, or my one-woman show is a full hour in front of a crowd of 100. Even today, I’m nervous before I step out. My first line is, “Hello, everybody. I’m 88 and three-quarters years old. I’m telling you that in case I don’t make it all the way through the show.” Then people laugh and I relax.
After a show, people young and old come up to me, saying what an inspiration I am. They say they want to be as active as me when they reach my age. I’m pleased I can show that as an older person you don’t need to take a back seat in life.
I’ve no intention of stopping comedy. I’m taking all these pills, trying to stay alive, and I hope to still be performing when I’m 100. My goal is to still be up there making people laugh. It’s hard work, but it stops me being bored. I’d only be playing golf otherwise.

“Everybody is talented because everybody who is human has something to express,” said American journalist Brenda Ueland. However, sometimes strict teachers or art world could kill creative spark in those who might not meet academic or art world expectations.
From a young age, Emily’s parents introduced her to art. Her father took her to world-renowned galleries in Germany, Italy, or France. Although her father loved and focused on Medieval and religious art, nine-year-old Emily was taken aback by the Modern Art. “I would go to the Modern Art section on my own. The paintings were fantastic, and my heart flew looking at them,” said Emily.
Although she loved arts and took creative subjects at school, she never had enough time to dedicate to painting. Only after she completed her Ph.D.in systematic theology (神学) at The University of St. Michael’s College in Canada, she found time to paint in 1996. “I was already teaching theology, and I enrolled (报名) in a watercolour class. Once I started, I could not stop,” she said.
Emily works as an independent fundraiser consultant for non-profit organizations, in addition to her responsibilities as a Fund Developer at Cardinal Felix Foundation. She regularly takes art classes or paints at home, but she packs her colours on every trip. “Painting helps me to get in touch with my true self. It has made my life richer,” she said.
In her painting, she likes to focus on a single object and draw attention to its details. “I like to see what is unique about an object and how it complements its surrounding,” she said. Emily enjoys creating colourful and novel scenes. She ignores remarks of those who follow strict art concepts and who is considered a genuine artist. Emily views art and creativity as a unique language that introduces her to different aspects of life and people. “Art is also my best friend. It is always here for me,” she said.

A.At a young age. B.During the trip to France.
C.In the University of St. Michael’s College. D.After obtaining her Ph. D. in Canada.
28.How did Emily react to the strict art critics
A.Turn a deaf ear and be true to herself.
B.Follow their professional and far-reaching advice.
C.Learn from their educational and creative remarks.
D.Adopt critical thinking to handle the criticism.
29. What is the common view about music
A.It has a pain-decreasing effect. B.It can enhance brain development.
C.It is a universal language of mankind. D.It may reduce feelings of pressure and depression.
30. What does the underlined word “modulate” in paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Ruin. B.Improve. C.Judge. D.Adjust.
31. What can be learned about musical chills
A.They will be further studied by researchers.
B.They have been defined in previous studies.
C.They may be related to dopamine in the brain.
D.They contribute little to the enjoyment of music.
32. What’s the text mainly about
A.Listening to music can make us more focused.
B.Music is a powerful tool for boosting our mood.
C.Emotional pain has an impact on our physical health.
D.Our favorite bittersweet music may help relieve pain.
33.The reason why the author quote so many outstanding people as examples in the first paragraph is
A.to prove the popularity and the charm of music
B.to prove all winners are musicians before
C.to encourage kids to choose school music program
D.to prove the connection between success and music
34.What question did the author put to top-flight professionals
A.Are success related to music or not
B.Why do you choose music training
C.What’s the benefit of learning music
D.Why do you give up the career as a musician
35.Which of the following is true
A.Everybody knows those well-known people are musicians before.
B.Musicians exist in all industries.
C.Music can certainly make you become a better person.
D.Music helps Mr. Wolfensohn have a better understanding of the different culture.
36.The main idea of this passage is that
A.many musicians are found at the top of almost any industry
B.music plays an important role in achieving success
C.music can provide a new way to express yourself
D.music is an absolute necessity for everyone
37.The author develops the passage mainly________
A.by classification B.by comparison C.by example D.by process
三、七选五阅读(本大题共1小题)
It’s happened to all of us: a song comes on the radio, and we are immediately transported back to a time in our past. 38
There are a few things that connect tunes with our memories. Music is often a necessary element of many important life events, and it is also very effective in arresting our attention. 39 Besides, the emotional nature of music helps make it particularly memorable.
We often become familiar with a piece of music because we hear it as background music. The more familiar a piece of music is, the more effective it is in bringing back memories. 40 The reason is that we are far more likely to hear a song over and over again than to watch a film or a TV programme in the same way.
Tiffany Jenkins, writing for a culture column, has a different opinion: 41 She tells us how throughout history oral cultures have passed important knowledge from generation to generation through songs because of this characteristic. The rhythm (韵律) and rhyme in lines of songs all serve as memory aids.
42 This fact corresponds with what many experts call the “reminiscence bump (怀旧性记忆)”, where older adults (over forty) have increased recollection of events that occurred during their adolescence and early adulthood.

二、阅读单选(本大题共4小题)

A.It has a pain-decreasing effect. B.It can enhance brain development.
C.It is a universal language of mankind. D.It may reduce feelings of pressure and depression.
25. What does the underlined word “modulate” in paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Ruin. B.Improve. C.Judge. D.Adjust.
26. What can be learned about musical chills
A.They will be further studied by researchers.
B.They have been defined in previous studies.
C.They may be related to dopamine in the brain.
D.They contribute little to the enjoyment of music.
27. What’s the text mainly about
A.Listening to music can make us more focused.
B.Music is a powerful tool for boosting our mood.
C.Emotional pain has an impact on our physical health.
D.Our favorite bittersweet music may help relieve pain.
28.The reason why the author quote so many outstanding people as examples in the first paragraph is

C.to encourage kids to choose school music program
D.to prove the connection between success and music
29.What question did the author put to top-flight professionals
A.Are success related to music or not
B.Why do you choose music training
C.What’s the benefit of learning music
D.Why do you give up the career as a musician
30.Which of the following is true
A.Everybody knows those well-known people are musicians before.
B.Musicians exist in all industries.
C.Music can certainly make you become a better person.
D.Music helps Mr. Wolfensohn have a better understanding of the different culture.
31.The main idea of this passage is that
A.many musicians are found at the top of almost any industry
B.music plays an important role in achieving success
C.music can provide a new way to express yourself
D.music is an absolute necessity for everyone

A.by classification B.by comparison C.by example D.by process
三、七选五阅读(本大题共1小题)
It’s happened to all of us: a song comes on the radio, and we are immediately transported back to a time in our past. 33
There are a few things that connect tunes with our memories. Music is often a necessary element of many important life events, and it is also very effective in arresting our attention. 34 Besides, the emotional nature of music helps make it particularly memorable.
We often become familiar with a piece of music because we hear it as background music. The more familiar a piece of music is, the more effective it is in bringing back memories. 35 The reason is that we are far more likely to hear a song over and over again than to watch a film or a TV programme in the same way.
Tiffany Jenkins, writing for a culture column, has a different opinion: 36 She tells us how throughout history oral cultures have passed important knowledge from generation to generation through songs because of this characteristic. The rhythm (韵律) and rhyme in lines of songs all serve as memory aids.
37 This fact corresponds with what many experts call the “reminiscence bump (怀旧性记忆)”, where older adults (over forty) have increased recollection of events that occurred during their adolescence and early adulthood.
