When you watch your favorite movies, you might not think about science. Of course, there's a lot of science behind movies like The Mars or Harry Potter and also cartoons like Frozen or Mulan.
Cartoons use a lot of science and math to make things look as real as possible. For example, snow was used in many parts of the movie Frozen, but making the snow look real was a challenge. The snow needed to act differently in different situations, like if it was melting or blowing in the wind.
Mathematicians had to create a computer program to make the snow look more natural. The mathematician Joseph faced this challenge with Frozen.
He and his team used math equations(等式) to treat snow like many different pieces instead of one large thing, as movies did in the past. They worked for months to make a computer program do this.
Science is important for superhero movies, too. Superheroes should have special powers that can't be explained. But movie makers still want to make their actions as real as possible. For example, Burks, a chemistry professor, told the Daily Mail that some of the science behind The Avengers could be real. Iron Man's coat is also possible to be real because it can be made of a light but strong material. In the movie, Tony makes new things by making atoms collide(使原子对撞), much like scientists do in real life.
So next time you see a movie, don't forget to think about the science behind it.
16.According to the article, there is much ____ behind movies.
A.Internet B.project C.science D.light
17.The underlined word Mathematicians probably means ____.
A.scientist of music B.scientist of math
C.scientist of computer D.scientist of physics
18.____ and his team made the snow in Frozen looked real with the knowledge of math.
A.Joseph B.Burks C.Iron Man D.Tony
19.Which of the following is TRUEabout the movies
A.Science is also important for "superhero movies".
B.Cartoons use a lot of medicines to make things look as real as possible.
C.All of the science behind The Avengers wasn't real.
D.Superheroes have special powers that can easily be explained.
20.Which one can be the best title for the article
A.Interesting movies and cartoons
B.Real things in movies
C.Movies or cartoons, which would be real
D.Science in movies and cartoons
