I love autumn! The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. It is on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
We also call it the Moon Festival. We believe that the moon is at its roundest and brightest at this time of the year.
The Mid-Autumn Festival dates back more than two thousand years. It was to celebrate the harvest of the year. Later, the
festival gained more cultural meanings. It is now a symbol of family reunion and gratitude. On this day, my whole family always gets together, has a wonderful dinner, and watches the full moon.
When I was a little boy, my grandma told me the story of Change. I would look up and try to find her on the moon while enjoying delicious mooncakes.
Many great poets in China wrote about the festival. I like this poem best:
The sea mirrors the rising moon bright tonight;
Far apart from each other, our hearts share the moment.
